The worst part of Julia's attempt to hire a hitman to kill her husband (because ya know, divorce is too cruel) was that her husband asked the judge to show her mercy and called her a "godly woman." *I JUST CAN'T*

He is the ultimate simp. "Sure you tried to kill me, honey, but I probably can't do any better" is how I picture their jailhouse conversation going after her arrest. I can't even imagine how anyone could have such low self-esteem and a complete utter disregard for their own personal safety to stay with a partner who tried to have you killed. Doesn't he have any friends or family to talk some sense into him?

Yes, the judge does have to say there is enough information for them to grant the restraining order, however, as stated they don't require the same burden of proof as a conviction and cannot be equated to a conviction.

Since men commit the vast majority of crimes, we're used to seeing harsh sentences, more in line with what one would expect for these awful acts.

@@slanigrad Tim Lambesis from As I Lay Dying was convicted of the same crime and was sentenced to 6 to 12yrs, but that's a bad example because his pockets are deep enough to benefit from the only color that matters in the legal system! Typically if the victim wasn't injured the sentence ranges between 0 and 10yrs, now if the victim is harmed in any way the sentence ranges between 0 and 20yrs. Also and I'm not exactly sure, but if solicitation for murder for hire is considered a violent offense the defendant would have to serve 85% of whatever the sentence is before parole eligibility. For a normal man without deep pockets the sentence would probably be somewhere around a 7 to 15... so yeah, a man would receive a harsher sentence because for some reason we are held to a different standard!

There's a point where they play video of her telling with the assassin and she completely denies it's her over and over either though it's plainly her, then when she gets put in prison she blames her husband and keeps saying its his responsibility to make sure her mum is looked after financially. I’ve heard that you have to drink it, of course unknowingly, several times a day for a few days, become violently ill vomiting and shitting and sleeping in between being sick, not knowing that your organs are slowly shutting down. This seems to be happening more and more so don’t accept bottled drinks from especially family unless the bottle has never been opened. Pour and fix your own food and drinks. I know once you are dead you are dead but I will try to find a way to torture my murderer for the rest of their life. Don’t know how, but I would try. Why are people so evil over ‘things’. Thankfully, ‘I am not a have to have ‘things’ person. I have what I need, purchased myself, and that’s all that matters. Things don’t make a person whole. What’s in your heart, how you care and treat others is what defines a person. I love all people, don’t care about color, shape, size, etc. Treat me the way you want to be treated and we can be friends. We know how to agree to disagree and that’s having a true friend.

I just watched Valerie’s case on dateline and she actually wanted her current bf’s 13 year old daughter killed, along with her ex-husband. The ex and the 13 year old weren’t connected to each other, outside of being Valerie’s targets.
She kept pushing her boyfriend to find a hit man to take care of both of them. She didn’t want to share marital assets with her ex and the motive for the bf’s daughter was her obsessive jealousy of this child. She even had her bf get the tattoo of his child’s name removed and HE DID! In the undercover recording she called his daughter a whore directly to him. Luckily he did go to the police finally but the way he kept putting this woman before his daughter was pathetic.

Many moons ago I worked with a guy named Skippy who bragged that he was a hit man, one of many BS stories he used to tell. He also told stories about his connections to organized crime, and other nonsense. We were all in our 20s then, but I was still smart enough to know that organized crime figures don't have much use for a 25 year old auto mechanic that can't keep his trap shut. I also knew that a true hit man wouldn't go around bragging to coworkers that he has only known a few weeks
After I heard enough of Skippy's tall tales, I told him I needed somene "taken care of" and asked how much it would cost. I made up a fake name for my mark and said the guy owed me money for a gambling debt and wouldn't pay up. Skippy's reaction was priceless. He stuttered, and tried to back pedal his way out of it. But, I persisted until he said "can't do it, man. I need to lay low for awhile". Skippy never again bragged about being a hitman or anything else. Thankfully he quit working there a few weeks later.
In hindsight, it wasn't terribly bright on my part. I guess I am lucky that Skippy didn't go to the police with my proposal.
