I agree with you. I remember sitting in one on the showroom floor when i was in the process of buying my 91 Accord. Pure ecstacy, I don't need to get to 150+ or 3 seconds to 60, just a beautiful, reliable car.
I am the fortunate owner of a 2004 Laguna Beach Blue NSX. I love my NSX. It is my 3 season daily driver. When I bought it, I was looking for a Ferrari 348. After hearing the horror stories of reliability, I realized I did not want a garage queen. The idea that I can have a car that is wonderful to drive and has the reliability of an Accord sold me. Thanks for the great review!
NSX prices have bottomed out and likely will not go anywhere but up. A $40K NSX today will never dip below that figure again. We're finally in the stage of Japanese classics.
I owned a 981 Bosxster S and it was a dope car, with some snows on it even a good winter car. Compared to a NA2, the Porsche requires less maintenance, great handling, good acceleration, great breaks, great interior, lots of tech, great build quality, and worth every penny..............at the end of the day, it’s a Porsche. With all that said, hands down I’d rather have a NA2 Targa. I’ve alotta seat time in both and there’s just something about a Honda.
These cars are legendary. The fact that an almost 20 year old NSX is still above 30 grand shows you the value of this car. Up here in Canada, Supra's and Skyline's are also starting to go over 30 grand in prices for the good ones. Yes you can get a showroom car for that much money with modern technology, but these sportscars are legendary forever and will always hold their value. Plus how many cars can you name today that drive as good or better than the NSX, in that price range. Please don't reply with your stupid paddle shifter and nanny-powered 1000 hp cars. Drivers cars please !! P.S. Everyday Driver, so glad you guys are back at making amazing videos for us. Cheers !!
Alive and well thanks for asking. How’s life treating you ? Still a car / motorcycle guy at heart and still enjoying whatever I can before the world goes to shit. Life during my original comment was a lot better actually 😂
I have my second one with over 500 rear wheel hp that will smoke anything under half a million dollars, including the new model coming out 2015. Once you've owned one, you will always want another. Now with true modern super car power and brakes, I'm satisfied. My Corvettes were pinky ring cars, my Porsches finicky and expensive. My Mercedes SL is smoother and more luxurious, yet… this beauty increases with value like real estate, and increases in enjoyment as I become a better driver. One of the rarest things in automobiles, a timeless, brilliant ride that thrills one every time you get in, and is as reliable as a honda accord. Cruize around quietly with 25 mpg, or put your foot in it and eat a Viper. It doesn't get better than this.
The interior of that NSX is just perfect in every single way. Actually, the interior in basically every old Honda is perfect, from the driving position in every single one of them, through the canted window controls in the NSX, to the door lock and handle position in the Accord - yes, I miss my old Accord Wagon badly. LOL Great video, guys!
The difference between a Cayman and a NSX when both are $37K is that the Cayman will cost half that much within five years while the NSX will persist at roughly that value.
Absolutely. I haven't quite owned one for a year yet and already, I can assure you, people notice an NSX. Not the club kids, not the hip crowd, not the ladies for sure. But genuine car guys know it and respect it for what it is. Definitely a conversation starter. People will want to ask you about it. Of course, if that doesn't sound appealing (can't say I blame you, it's tiring sometimes - which is one reason I don't drive it every day), there's always the Porsche/Corvette/etc.
@@kotomile My girlfriend and I were out for a spin around a high in part of Atlanta in my '91. At a intersection a guy in a shiny new Ferrari gave me a thumbs up.
It's truly a visceral experience, I've spent a good amount of time driving my friend's 96 NA1 and it definitely takes time to get used to. I have an AP1 S2000 and expected a LOT my first time in the seat and was left a little disappointed, it wasn't until my third or fourth time taking it out that I understood the differences. The steering ratio REALLY takes time to get used to, second gear is too tall on the 5-speed for tight canyon runs, and it just feels SOFT in the canyons compared to an AP1. I think the car really shines at higher speeds, as mentioned in the review, versus hitting tight switchbacks in the canyons. You just have to hit a long sweeper and let the engine scream behind your head. My dream is to park one next to my S2000 one day...
This Thanksgiving, lets all give thanks to Honda for building such a revolutionary, desirable, timeless, good looking supercar. And lets enjoy a feast *not* for the *taste*, but for the eyes and ears. And lets also give thanks to EverydayDriver for yet again presenting us with another *swell* review!
How the hell did Honda go from making this brilliant NSX and the S2000, to making the crap it makes today? I seriously hope Honda can bring some of that edge back with the new NSX.
rjmari They could still make profit while making good cars. They don't have to make supercars or even sportscars (it would be great if they did), but they could still make their current line up better than it is now. Honda right now couldn't hope to compete with Toyota and Nissan, in all areas except "safety". Acura is the same, have you seem Acura's interiors lately? They are hideous compared to Lexus's and Infiniti's.
ewt415 making good sports cars makes a great commercial advertisement honda declared since the 2005s they're gng green and subtle which is ironic since they're great engine makers and extreme sports machines like bikes etc
ewt415 I'd have to disagree with you. The Accord is miles better than the Camry. And it does have a sport version. And the Civic Si is also a very sporty small car. Many call the Honda Fit the best in its class, and it is also quite sporty for what it is. And don't forget that outside of the US, they still sell the Type R. Toyota is so vanilla in comparison. Now NIssan on the other hand...the Altima and Accord are well-matched. And the new NSX will compete with the GT-R. Can't wait for that one. But it is too bad Accord has no answer for the 370z at the moment. Maybe if they bring back the S2000...
rjmari I concur to the Accord part, but keep in mind Toyota has Lexus, which is arguably the leading luxury Japanese automaker, while Acura is extremely poor in comparison.
I've owned my 92 NSX longer than any other car I have owned. Most cars I would be bored with after 3 or 4 years. I've had the NSX for 11 years now and it still makes me grin when I get behind the wheel.
40k for a "20 year old car"? This is no civic. Reviewers hardly have any complaints about the NSX and almost always mention that special something that can't be quantified or put in words about it that puts the NSX in a league of its own. The NSX hasn't lost anything over time, calling it a 20 year old car is a pointless insult.
s0nnyburnett Supersupra87 It certainly is not a Civic. One hell of a car built from some awesome engineering..... safety standards that are different in 2013-14. However S0nny, 90's civics and a 90's NSX were surprisingly similar mechanically, with a different chassis. Light weight and vTEC (all jokes aside a great stride in small liter engine performance).
caymen s reaction from people : oh nice car! *then walks away* nsx reaction from people: WHOA! AN NSX!?!? What year is it? How long have you had it? Can I take a picture with it? etc. etc. That's what you'll be buying when you buy an nsx :D
You guys forgot to mention that all NSX's have the all- aluminum monocoque body and as well as a full-aluminum engine! That really is one of the biggest reasons why the NSX is very unique. Also, inflation made the price of aluminum very high over time. Which is why you can still see pretty ridiculous pricing on many NSXs.
I own a '91, the original owner paid 20K over list (83K). A lot of money now, boatload then. Getting on the expressway one day. A little deep in third, 85/90 mph, when I looked in the mirror, yeah Atlanta's finest. He followed me for about a mile then pulled beside me and gave me a thumbs up, car guy. Trivia, aluminum jack
Not sure why people compares 300zx and 3000gt to an NSX. Those cars can be bought nowdays as low as 6k$. Supra comes to second in terms of resale value. NSX has AMAZING resale value.
You cannot find 300zx for under 6k unless it's a base model, but who wants the base model? I want the fairlady Z twin turbo. Those are 15 and up in a good condition, as for the NSX I found the a 1991 NSX with 35k miles for just 3k, I will check it out to see what's wrong with it and if it worth taking the gamble on it.
There's tons of 300zx in Canada twin turbo under 6000$, no one wants a twin turbo because they always break down and parts are EXPENSIVE because you have to order from japan most of the times. NSX for 3000$? the engine alone is worth more than that lol. Its probably 30k
Well that's people that don't know how to take care of their cars, again a 300zx isn't supposed to be a daily driver, it's a weekend car, same with the NSX. But no joke I found like 3 NSX under 6 k one is a 94 and the other one is a 1991 and one is a 91 NSX-r .
I think part of the price is really the legacy. Although Porsches are AMAZING cars, almost everyone to have driven an nsx can express that there is something about it unidentifiable through words. I think for that very reason, and the fact that Porsches are in great abundance compared to the nsx, is the reason why it has held it's price for a 20+ year old car
Memo to Paul, the $37k you are worried about vs buying a cayman S...you'll get your money back if you ever have to sell the NSX, meanwhile the cayman will loose money for sure...there is a reason early model NSX's are still going for $30-40k.....they are a rare piece of automotive history, not a dime a dozen Porsche ...I am on my 3rd one in the last 11 years and always sold for more then I bought for after enjoying them for three or more years...
Always love your reviews. You guys are way more passionate about your reviews than most other people on youtube. My girlfriend doesn't know much about cars and I let her watch your evo x review and she even admitted your analogies are great. Keep up the good work!
Very attractive... ever since i first saw the nsx it instantly was the best honda ever created and will continue to be for years to come. Even the new NSX that honda is planning on in my opinion doesnt compare. There is a certain feel to the look of this car that no other car can compare to. I definitely think the car is more visibly attractive compared to its power output but thats a sacrifice id be more than willing to make. I think a nice supercharger kit would make this car about 10 times more fun.
A million years ago, I owned the first affordable mid engine sports car--the Fiat X 1/9. It was a '75 and I had it for 3 yrs. Ive been looking for another mid-engine ever since---almost got a Boxter a couple yrs ago. But hey, the NSX is on the list. If you've never driven a mid-engine, there's nothing quite like it. The Fiat was under powered, but I was a kid and it kept me out of too much trouble.
I think what's so appealing about this car is it's simplicity...from the outside in, theres a lot of simplicity to go around. No weird angles to figure out, and no buttons that make you question whether its a spaceship or fun-to-drive car.
The Acura NSX was a machine that rivaled Porsche and Ferrari in a way that the Mazda RX-7, Mitsubishi 3000GT, Toyota Supra, Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota MR2, Nissan 300ZX, and C4 Chevorlet Corvette never could.
So 9 years later, would you still prefer to have either one of these or the Cayman S? I think a significant characteristic of the NSX is it’s comparative rarity vs most mass production cars. The NSX is the obvious choice.
Bravo! Some of your best work ever! An observation: the Cayman, without doubt a great car, may be comparable for less money but it doesn't have the rarity, presence, or historical impact of the NSX. Thats why NSXs cost more now and likely will cost even more in the future.
my dad got the limited edition book from the dealer the first year these came out. I have been wanting one since I found it in his closet when I was six.
I really like that you guys are making the graphics and animation new and different. That said, I would like to see a faster presentation in the beginning with the "everyday driver" logo. It's kinda lethargic considering the channel is about driving cool cars kinda fast. Just my opinion-either way, thanks for working so hard for your subscribers!
The price of the old NSX is high because of it's legendary status. Many examples are actually appreciating in value at this time. It changed the automotive world more than any car of its time, thrusting it into the collector spotlight early. Plus... it's a Honda/Acura product. It's going to last. Say what you want about NSX being a ricer, but one thing is for certain. It's going to last longer, hold value better and turn more heads going down the street than some mullet head in a modern day American muscle car.
Suspension is not too soft, because cars handle better when tires are touching the road. Have driven my NSX since purchased new in 1992. Amazing, unique car that was built for true drivers, not poseurs.
I agree. 30-40k for a NSX is perfect. 60k+ is just a rip off. With that money, you can buy the new C7 Corvette, USED GTR, and many brand new base German sports cars like M3, C63,.
C63? Come on, its a Sedan... Its totally different from the NSX and Id prefer having a nice car, wich is actually a true drivers car instead of a overpowered sedan my grandma could drive.
TheHondaTuner I agree with you mate, you have to DRIVE, LIKE PROPERLY DRIVE the NSX to truly make sense about it, not just stack some stats pulled up on Face-Tube n judge based on that only. How many of us actually fully utilize more than 300bhp on a twisty road?
The reason why the prices are so high is because someone had to give it up at some point. The person that bought it had to pay the price to pry the keys out of the original owners hands. Second owner didn't want to let it go either. 3rd owner had to restore it and replace seals and gaskets. Now it's worth more than he paid and he knows it's the most beautiful/unique car he'll ever have. This car is affordable and reliable. It will snap necks forever as it drives by. Same with a well taken care of Z32 TT because I own one :) (great review btw) Now just do a side by side review with a 95 NSX and a 95 Z32 PLEASE!? TST sent me and I Subscribed.
I don't know why it took me so long to find this video... Acura could learn a lot from this car. If they implemented half the things they kept in mind when making this car on their current lineup, their cars would be so much more desirable.
I've always liked this car. I would take this car over any Ferrari any day. This is the car that inspired Ferrari to be what it is today. Some people will complain that it doesn't have enough power, or doesn't handle as well as sports car today for the price, but remember, this model was released back in 91-97 and it was actually ahead of its time back then.
I had the opportunity to drive one of these once. It was a 95 model. It was very sharp and precise. But I agree it just needs a TINY bit more power. not much more, It's close to where it needed to be. It's a car that shines when you can carry momentum through a corner and really carve it like a surgeon.
I think I'd take the NSX over a Cayman simply because the Porsche may have more reliability/maint costs/downtime compared to the NSX? Especially if you're going to drive the thing how it's meant to be driven!! Also, Comptech makes a supercharger kit (among others) that will get this car into the mid/upper 12's :) As far as the video production goes: I love the work/progress you guys have made! Each video gets even better and better! It would be nice to have some better audio during the panning shots/exhaust notes, maybe a few more out takes, and some voice overs+music, slow motion video+voice overs?... stuff like that, but I'm being picky! Thanks again for all of your work, and own individual styles.
I'm glad they took a moment that is otherwise un-needed in a car review: a moment to acknowledge that there is something un-tangibily special about the NSX.
I have a Supercharged 450rwhp NSX and that is EXACTLY the proper power for the chassis. Feel perfect. The NSX needed a bump in power and most importantly more TQ all across the rpm range.
I’m on my third NSX in the last 18 years.... never sold one for less than I paid for it. My latest one has gone up almost twice what I stole it for 6 years ago. Long live the NSX!!!
you guys do great reviews but every channel I go to including this one, no one ever does a review of the Mitsubishi VR4 (base, SL, GTO) which was once the Ferrari Killer and can and still will beat a Supra, Skyline, NSX, MR2, 300ZX, Impreza STi around a circuit. If you were to get a Base or SL model you'd have by far one of the most durable sports cars from that time mechanically speaking.
These cars are a blast to drive, a friend has a 91 with no A/C or power steering and it's a blast to drive, car is so light it doesn't even need power steering.
The NSX and the S2000 are two amazing Honda vehicles.
and the Prelude and ITR were amazing too. New Civic Si sucks and it is basically a joke for today's sport cars in the same price range.
RAY NL if the prelude was RWD i would call it great
Yes, they are! Ap1 S2k is more agressive to drive than the nsx tho. IMO
Probably my favorite car ever. Something about its ability to do so much with so little, to be so normal yet so exotic.
Nice words about the nsx.
I agree with you. I remember sitting in one on the showroom floor when i was in the process of buying my 91 Accord. Pure ecstacy, I don't need to get to 150+ or 3 seconds to 60, just a beautiful, reliable car.
What also justifies the price is the fact that the NSX will hold it's value EXTREMELY well :)
10 years later you have been proven correct
Acura NSX: Purchased with mid-90's top-40 payola c-notes and fueled by MDMA.
I hope you're able to review one someday. Good or bad, it'll at least be entertaining.
Fueled by MDMA?

There's tons of 300zx in Canada twin turbo under 6000$, no one wants a twin turbo because they always break down and parts are EXPENSIVE because you have to order from japan most of the times. NSX for 3000$? the engine alone is worth more than that lol. Its probably 30k
Well that's people that don't know how to take care of their cars, again a 300zx isn't supposed to be a daily driver, it's a weekend car, same with the NSX. But no joke I found like 3 NSX under 6 k one is a 94 and the other one is a 1991 and one is a 91 NSX-r .
Omar Islas Yes, where did you see a 3 running NSX under 6 k?
Omar Islas Stop the fairy tales.. There is no place on earth where you could buy a (running) NSX even for 10k.
Honda in the late 80s and throughout the 90s was the master of cabin design. The engines weren't bad either. ;-)
Masterful engineering. Way ahead of it's time. Timeless...
I believe the NSX was also the first engine to feature Titanium internals?. Great review guys.
if only this car was still in the price range that you guys mentioned in the video! I would happily pick up two!
Great review, NSX fan forever
Great review! Thanks for putting together an awesome video! 93 Silver NSX, best purchase ever.
I work at honda and yes we are bringing back the nsx and the s2000
A million years ago, I owned the first affordable mid engine sports car--the Fiat X 1/9. It was a '75 and I had it for 3 yrs. Ive been looking for another mid-engine ever since---almost got a Boxter a couple yrs ago. But hey, the NSX is on the list. If you've never driven a mid-engine, there's nothing quite like it. The Fiat was under powered, but I was a kid and it kept me out of too much trouble.
I recall being awed by this car wen it came out and I still love it today.
I think what's so appealing about this car is it's simplicity...from the outside in, theres a lot of simplicity to go around. No weird angles to figure out, and no buttons that make you question whether its a spaceship or fun-to-drive car.
Very happy with mine. I love it.
Wel you wrong, skyline and Supra could do that as well, even in stock form, get some information before you post B.S.
honda engineering at it's best.
Great review .... a real drivers perspective .... A+
The Acura NSX - Fantastic car then... FANTASTIC CAR NOW... end of story.
Yep, the gen one NSX was probably one of the best cars ever made. And the Lexus is a formula one car J listening to 12:30 à
I want this NSX a R34 and Supra TT parked in my garage. All stock. Please do a video on the last gen Supra TT
Beautiful cars!! I would spend 35k for a well-kept NSX w/o hesitation!!
So much want. Thanks for addressing the crazy prices should do an e36 m3 review since it beat out the nsx as best handling car back in the day ;)
I really like that you guys are making the graphics and animation new and different. That said, I would like to see a faster presentation in the beginning with the "everyday driver" logo. It's kinda lethargic considering the channel is about driving cool cars kinda fast. Just my opinion-either way, thanks for working so hard for your subscribers!
I'm lucky enough to even see one by my school everyday. I think these are pretty rare therefore having a high price
It's going to last longer, hold value better and turn more heads going down the street than some mullet head in a modern day American muscle car.
my fav about the nsx is the overall height. low and wide. . . makes an amzing looking sportscar
Suspension is not too soft, because cars handle better when tires are touching the road. Have driven my NSX since purchased new in 1992. Amazing, unique car that was built for true drivers, not poseurs.
Glad to see someone review this great car
Nicely done guys. Agree with you on the prices.
TheHondaTuner
I agree with you mate, you have to DRIVE, LIKE PROPERLY DRIVE the NSX to truly make sense about it, not just stack some stats pulled up on Face-Tube n judge based on that only. How many of us actually fully utilize more than 300bhp on a twisty road?
There's a 5k dollars NSX in my area
CLASSIC!!! I want one
still a great looking car. Timeless!
Same with a well taken care of Z32 TT because I own one :) (great review btw)
Now just do a side by side review with a 95 NSX and a 95 Z32 PLEASE!? TST sent me and I Subscribed.
One more great review guys. I'd take an NSX in a heartbeat. It's the high point of everything Honda's done.
Most beautiful car in the world
I don't know why it took me so long to find this video...
Got the S2000, now just need this...
I think I'd take the NSX over a Cayman simply because the Porsche may have more reliability/maint costs/downtime compared to the NSX? Especially if you're going to drive the thing how it's meant to be driven!! Also, Comptech makes a supercharger kit (among others) that will get this car into the mid/upper 12's :)
As far as the video production goes: I love the work/progress you guys have made!
The first and last true sports car, certainly the most beautiful of them all.
Remember when $40,000 for an NSX seemed too high? The Cayman stayed exactly the same price, but NSXs have TRIPLED.
Seems like a good deal to me for a car that cannot rust, and was hand made!
you guys do great reviews but every channel I go to including this one, no one ever does a review of the Mitsubishi VR4 (base, SL, GTO) which was once the Ferrari Killer and can and still will beat a Supra, Skyline, NSX, MR2, 300ZX, Impreza STi around a circuit. If you were to get a Base or SL model you'd have by far one of the most durable sports cars from that time mechanically speaking.
"Gathered Leather" oh so that's what that is. I don't think it's dated at all, it actually looks quite suptuous!
the only car I would ever race on the Playstation game Gran Turismo. Good memories lol
I had a 6 foot wide poster of a Lotus Espirit on my wall as a kid. Maybe that could be your next review!
These cars are a blast to drive, a friend has a 91 with no A/C or power steering and it's a blast to drive, car is so light it doesn't even need power steering.
The legend continue... The first generation Acura NSX sports cars. #AcuraNSX #NSX #Acura
Great comments and review! Now I'm wondering what you guys would make of the Type-R version.
Wish they still make them
