I’m going crazy in the UK, the duvet is many centimetres smaller than the cover! It’s madness. Nothing makes sense anymore. I used to use regular double size and they were always the same size! Now I use king size and it’s never right, just empty cover flapping around, stressing me out. I have autism and sensory processing disorder, just want to chew my way out of my body sometimes 😩

Glad it was helpful! With todays super thick mattresses many duvet covers will not cover the mattress. Thanks for watching our video, please check out a 150+ bedding care videos here www.verolinens.com/how-to-luxury-bed-sheets-linens-tips/
OBTW, this video is about 15 years old, sorry for the poor quality, however the message makes sense.

Typically a duvet covet should cover the mattress and a portion of the box spring. Most duvet covers will offer you somewhere between 15 an 20 inches of drop. However as if your mattress is 22 thick you box spring is going to show. An inch to three or four is generally what you should attempt to acheive. I hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions - Steve

You can put a king down comforter in a queen duvet cover. My duvet cover is 90" + 4" flange on each side or 98" wide. A queen bed is 60" wide. So, 98" - 60" / 2= 19" . Providing you 4" drop below you mattress.

You can put a king size insert into a queen size duvet? Where does all the extra fabric go? Just bunches up?

The mattress I want to purchase is 60x80 with 15” sides. The comforters all seem to be 92x88. Even with a pretty normal 12” mattress, this wouldn’t cover the end of the bed. At 15”, a 4” flange would still leave 4” exposed. A king is 108x92, which still wouldn’t cover 15” at the end, but the sides would be really long, especially with a flange. How do they intend us to make a bed like this?

Thanks for watching this very old video... The mattress you are considering is a standard Queen. Over the years many duvet cover and down comforters manufacturers have increased the size of their products to accommodate the thicker mattresses. 88's is a little short, but keep in mind that many make their beds open so the length can be adjusted accordingly. When you are under it, it is not pulled up to the head. Our queen comforter is 92 W x 96 L. However, when it is stuffed it will be no larger than the duvet cover it is contained in. If the duvet cover is larger than 88 " L there will be excess fabric. Having a down comforter larger than the cover is not an issue as the comforter will conform to a smaller compartment. In summary - look for a larger down comforter and duvet cover. We hope this helps.

@@Verolinens Thank you. 92” x 96 would be a much better size for duvet covers than the small sizes they have. Also, I often sleep with my covers over my head because I get cold easily.

Very informative! I have a queen pillow top and a regular queen duvet doesn't cover the sides completely. I was wondering if i should just get a king.

Thanks for watching our very old video. Some use a king on a queen. However, there are some duvet comforters that are a little oversized. Some companies (like Vero Linens) add a flange to the sides and foot of the divert cover to give it more coverage.
The mattress makers are to blame for this conundrum as they have gotten silly with mattress thickness. If you would like to discuss this in more detail, feel free to reach out to us via phone at 786-512-3268 or email us at info@verolinens.com.

Thanks for the video.. What is the best duvet size for a 140cmx200cm bed to achieve the "hotel look"? i will be using a thinner duvet compared to the one you have in the video. Thanks in advance.

Your bed appears to be a full-size (however it is longer than a typical full bed which is 54" x 75") bed. Many higher-end linen companies produce a full/queen duvet cover that works on a queen and full size mattress. Mattress thickness is also a factor. Nonetheless, you would want to have 15" to 18" or more of a drop with a duvet cover/down comforter. Keep in mind your down comforter will only be as large as the cover that constrained it.

I’m pulling my hair out with this 4th super king duvet!! 200x220. None of my super king bedding fits my duvet. The bedding is always too big and my duvet gets lost inside it. Initially I thought they sent me a King size rather than a super king but no 4th one down the bedding is too big. Whereas king size bedding fits flush on the super king duvet. Please help!

Who did you order the bedding from? We would recommend you check with them. Assuming the dimension you are providing are in CM 200 cm = 78" 220 cm = 86". These are neither a King or Cal King dimension. We are unfamiliar with a super king mattress.

This is happening to me in the UK. Never happened with double size bedding but with the king size, the cover is waaay too big. They claim it’s for the ‘loft’ of the duvet but then why do they only do it for king size?!
