Guys to address this I knew Elvis sung the song before he died I just worded it wrong which happens to people all the time! What I meant at 1:59 is that I didn’t know if he sung the song right before he died (as in close to his death) or way before thats all I was trying to say.

So nice to see young folk like yourself to be touched by Elvis, He sure was a great man, not only by his music but his kind personalty, towards the less fortunate, he never forgot where he came from growing up poor, I just loved the man really, I was 18 in 1977 & will never forget Aug 16th 1977, will never forget the shock when a news flash came on tv The King of Rock & Roll is dead, a very sad day for the world really, a few yrs later I was watching a program about Elvis & it showed a news clip from around the world saying the King was dead, China, Russia, Holland, Japan, plus few other countries, of course I could not understand the language except for the world Elvis, But funny Elvis never performed outside N America & yet the man was loved worldwide, so it shows the great voice he had, After his death his Dad said it best when he said, God gave Elvis a gift & he gladly shared it with the world,

I like the way you love Elvis I love him too he is the king and always will be, I was 8 months old when he passed, if you didn't watch his (Aloha from Hawaii) concert go ahead and watch it it's on youtube you gonna love it, there's a countless of Elvis videos I can tell you about but I'm just gonna mention few like the song ( young dreams) from King Creole 1958, also (the next step is love)song,( something in the way) from Aloha from Hawaii 1973, and check out his Gospel music songs like( Milky white way)and more.
It's just great to see someone love Elvis the way you do, beautiful Chanel and you're beautiful too.

You can't believe the number of people who came to Memphis when they heard the news. THEY CAME FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. To show how much Elvis extended love his brothers and sisters - it was so hot that people were passing out from exhaustion but they continued to stand outside his home. THE Presley Family provided refreshments to everyone. This is what Elvis would have wanted because he thought of his fans before himself. Elvis never forgot where he came from and who helped his family when they had nothing. He felt giving back to the needy or less fortunate was the reason God put him on this earth. Elvis never realized how famous he was. He just felt he was lucky and everything he had was from God. If you met him in person, he was as common as anyone else. This man never thought in his mind he was something special. This is why people come every year on his birthday and 8/16 anniversary of his death. CAN YOU BELIEVE PEOPLE CALLED HIM WHITE TRASH? He never held it against them. His father said they were poor, but they weren't white trash.

When Elvis died only a few select people were allowed into his home where are they had his body laying in a viewing room. Singer James Brown was one of the few allowed into the home as people were coming and going James Brown stayed there for 6 hours crying and refusing to leave Elvis's side. James Brown and Priscilla would come out occasionally for a few minutes and then go back in the room with Elvis and cry and cry.

Elvis died in August of 1977. I was born in January of 1978. I only missed him by 6 months. Both of my parents remember the day he died. I have listened to his music and watched his movies all of my life. I also have approximately 50 vinyl LP albums of Elvis, some of which are original pressings. He sounds so much better on vinyl. I love your Elvis reactions and your appreciation for not only his music, but for the man that he was.

It still hurts and still makes me cry seeing the funeral, it was televised on all networks. I was 16 when it happened, I was in shock for the longest time after they interrupted television programming to announce that he was gone. I remember just sitting there starring at the tv I couldn't move and was numb, no tears would even flow. Finally, I got up and went to my room, turned on the radio and all the stations were playing Elvis, after that, I lost it, I cried for days and for weeks I would just suddenly cry. It hurt so bad, he has been the only performer that has ever affected me that way.

Elvis was originally buried at the cemetery next to his mother but when a famous actor’s body was stolen and was held for ransom around the same time, Elvis’ family became worried and had his body reburied at Graceland. So be prepared when you visit. I didn’t realize he was buried there when I did the tour. I was already crying my eyes out but then seeing his grave on top of everything else . . . was really tough.

  • @Phoenix7878

The song was done around '69...it wasn't personally about him. It was about someone who always wanted to be famous, found fame & died in a car crash. Finally coming back home ironically finding hometown fame through death. As for Elvis, he was so humble he never REALLY understood the impact he had on the world....he'd always say 'I don't get what they see in me.' THE GOAT - ELVIS. RIP 43 yrs later. PEACE!

Elvis was the best artist of all time, he was blessed by God with a wonderful voice. There won't be a better singer. Elvis was and remains unique. It's a shame that he didn't have any good friends. Good friends warned him about excessive drug use and protected him. It's always sad to see how he ruined his life. Yes, good friends would have protected him. The king of music is dead, but through his music he lives on and gives us beautiful moments.

His very close buddy the Godfather of soul James Brown attended the funeral stood by his casket for hours crying. They used to play piano and sing gospel music together. Checkout Elvis: THE ECHO WILL NEVER DIE; he was very close also to Glen Campbell, Tom Jones, Muhammad Ali, Sammy Davis jr, Fats Domino, Barbara McNair, Carl Perkins, Jackie Wilson, Darlene Love, BB King, Whitney Houstons mom, Cissy, JD Sumner, Ann Margaret, Shelley Fabares plus Many more.

@JD Ronin that was unnecessary, you dont have to be disrespectful to other peoples comments. . James Brown and Elvis met in 1966 when the two of them went to a nightclub performance of Jackie Wilson and were introduced to each other by George Klein. Over the years James Brown got to spend time at Graceland so your wrong when you say the last time was 1966. He did spend 3 hours with the casket and attended his funeral. Check your facts before having a go at someone who said nothing that wasn't true .

@JD Ronin obviously every person has their own opinion on whether or not they were as close friends as reported by some but james brown in a recorded interview stated that he and elvis were very close friends and that they did sing gospel songs together, he even released a cover version of love me tender dedicated to elvis after he passed away, me personally i rather tend to believe what james brown said himself.

BB. King. And Sammy Davis Jr. Frank sanatra and Nancy franks daughter who Elvis dated. Once. And. Little Richard too. Who didn't have anything nice to say about him. Bc he. Covered tootie fruity. He said so. On. That Elvis and the black. Cominty video. I don't understand why. All these. Black. Guys. And gal's. Are. Liking Elvis now. Just bc they thought. He was racist? I have to ask. Who told these guys. He was? Cece Houston was his. Back up. Singer. The one with the long hair. And. Whitney got to meet Elvis and. Her mom. Did all the back up on all his gospel songs. My point is. This if he was. He wouldn't have had any black singers. Or the man. Who plays the picalo in the video. American trilogy. Elvis. Was a GOAT. No one. Has yet to touch his. Voice. Whenever they sing. And he was. Born. Beautiful. And falwless. I hate that his twin brother died. I would have loved to see them. Act together. Elvis. Was a blonde like his dad. And started. Dyeing his hair. In his teens. Did you know that? You can look it up. If you don't believe me. Elvis. Never hated anyone. And he was a giver. I loved it when he bought bmiss marry a brand new home in. 1975 I think it was. She was. The only one who knew how to cook. The food he grew up on. He bought her a car and told her. To pic any car she wonted. A brand new. Cadillac. And. He bought. And gave to. Thousands of ppl and fans but I was. Standing in. A pile of ppl. And the next thing I knew I woke up in a ambulance. It was the hardest thing I'd been through. At that time.

This is just stock news footage from 1977 that was used as a backdrop to the song Elvis recorded in 1969 by whoever put this together. There is no association between the two other than it's Elvis's funeral news footage and the 1969 song about a funeral. By the way, I recommend that everyone listen to this entire album because it;s great...It's "Elvis in Memphis" and he was on fire during this recording. I think it's because he was liberated from the movie contracts in 1968 and this was after the comeback Special. He made music that had nothing to do with a movie and I think he felt artistically free for the first time since the Sun Studio days. Listen to "the power of my love" and "I'll hold you in my heart"...wow..killer tracks and vocals..pure power...To the beautiful young lady here, I watch a lot of your videos and I finally subscribed. sorry for the delay..lol...keep doing these Elvis video's..there are MANY to do..

I was 5 years old when this happened and I remember I was playing hopscotch when I heard it come on the radio and I ran indoors in absolute tears and I was devastated....it was my first ever experience of loss...I remember being really small probably from about 2 years old and not moving from the sofa when he or his films or concerts were on tv....its something I've always remembered and I've been his fan lifelong...I will never forget x

Me too. I got into my car to go somewhere ( I don't remember where), & I heard it on the radio. There was not any music played that day, only talk about Elvis.
& of course on TV as well. Needless to mention everyone was just devastated to hear about Elvis Presley's death. Nobody wanted to believe it was true!
I was 25 years old at the time. I'm 69 now.

You're question on if Elvis knew the impact he had more than likely cannot be answered or at least I don't remember coming across the answer. However, he did wonder how and if he would be remembered.
So heartfelt every time I watch one of your reactions.

I remember it well. I was 17 years old. The world went into shock that day. It was a horrible day. I remember I was home in my bedroom watching TV when they broke in with the special bulletin. Just myself and my mom were home and she was upstairs taking a nap and I ran upstairs to and woke her up to tell her. For the next several weeks the world was in mourning. And then the Elvis sightings began. Seriously. For at least a few of years there were all kinds of supposed Elvis sightings were people's swore they saw Elvis. I remember the 1st one was somebody saw him in a Burger King somewhere in Michigan. And they went on like that for years and there was actually a special a TV special on several years later (hosted by Bill Bixby and I don't know if you know who that is but he was pretty popular in his day) about the whole Elvis being alive thing. It it was just so weird. That's why if you've ever heard anybody make mention of that in passing and you don't know what they're talking about that's what they're talking about because it was a really big deal for a long time!
I really wish I could get you to do Elvis .. "And I love you so"...
For those of you who are not yet born when all this took place I have included a link for the special that I mentioned

Remember Elvis died in 1977 and the special aired in 1992 I believe. Look how long this rumor was going on!

  • @RobinMarkowitzcoolmedia

He told friends and family "don't wear black to my funeral." This was much closer to the end. He wanted to go out like he came in: flashy. It was his final performance.
His dad found a beautiful white suit he'd bought recently for his son. Odd, Elvis wasn't much for traditional suits. It was a white suit, not gray flannel. It was what he would have wanted. And then his dad got a bunch of white Caddys for the funeral ride. It's now a kind of Memphis tradition; gang funerals and suchlike - they always have a line of rented white Caddys. He was the OG, though, of flash and danger. He changed the world. He shook it up.
