  • Here's a match of a little more than last time. 148 points: (6 x 22 = 132 + 10 = 142 + 6 = 148), this time including a low hang.
As you may have noticed, we have never gone for the climb in most of our past videos. This is because, unless you can score all 22 balls and then have time to climb, it's not worth it because you could probably spend that 5 seconds you would use for climbing (6 points) to score two balls in the high goal (12 points). It's all about how many points you can get, and since points from a climb are no more special than points from balls, it makes sense to go for the more points.
Another thing you might be wondering is how we keep track of where the catapult is. We do this through a beam break sensor made up of two color sensors facing each other (you might be able to see the white LED inside the robot). One of the sensors is purely for light, so we turn the LED on. The other one detects a brightness value change. If it sees the light, the value will be very different than the dark plastic of the catapult. The LED makes it work even better in varying light conditions, but it will work decent with just one sensor.

My team are frustrated with their catapult that keeps getting out of place after the first attempt how can they fix it.

I posted a video of 130 points some time back on this account, so could you give some tips for my driving? It's okay if you can't though.

Overall it looks great. It's important to keep in mind though that the strategy for 130 points is much different than the strategy for 142 points. This is because you have to grab those first two balls in the little concave area under the low bar, and if you do that it'll mess up all the rest of your ball grabbing cycles. IF you decide to go of 148, you might try a few different strategies and see which one works best for you. However, this is all just for the future, and for a 130 point run, this looks awesome. Nice job.

We can get it to reset but it will sometimes over rotate. Also sometimes it will just reset on its own, it will be down ready to shoot, and it just shoots on its own. We have tried numerous things, but still can’t figure it out.

@@horizonwest2 From your description, I would guess the problem is the lighting in the room. Sometimes the light will seem to the sensor as the correct lighting to tell the catapult to go. I solved this by putting a black piece as close as possible to the color sensor, and so there will be as big of a jump as possible in the value of when the catapult is there versus not there. You might also try in addition playing with the numbers in the code a little to see if certain values work better than others. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!

@@horizonwest2 we use a bumper sensor on the bottom of our catapult instead- much reliable

There are a total of 6 motors. 2 for the catapult, 2 for the intake, and 2 for the drivetrain.

the videos are sped up. Here's Proof:
    - looking at the ball's momentum, the balls are being forced up, not down. so when the balls are at their apex point, they should be falling slower. if you drop a ball from the same height that his ball was at (you can try it) you can see that it falls slower than his ball. you can also test this by building his robot and trying it for yourself
its pathetic how you are giving people false hope to promote your curiculum and content, and making money off of the dreams of children and thier teams. the children who build your robot are reduced to tears when they find out that the robot doesn't work well, and the end up blaming it on their building and driving skill.

Well, you can't please everybody. It's not even worth my time to try and argue with you. But the fact that you crated an entire account just to harass people on something you haven't even tried is amusing.

    • @a.9976

The videos are not sped up 😂 If you tried building this double catapult yourself, you would know that different rubber band placements would make differences. Let's say that the rubber bands were weaker, but the catapult was closer to the plastic sheet. The balls would fly slower, but still make it in. If you make the rubber bands tenser, then they would fly faster. Also, if the catapult hits something before shooting, it will go higher, rather than far. It really just depends on how you built the catapult.
If you still think that it's sped up, I would suggest building a robot similar, and playing around with the pivot points and rubber bands. btw I'm really curious what team you are
