Strikeout RI24H Reveal - VEX IQ Slapshot | 110 Points

- Here's a quick preview of our first robot of the season: Strikeout. Strikeout features 4 motors, two arms, and lots of rubber bands.
Since we couldn't easily re-create this field with the pieces that we had, we had to wait until the real game kit arrived. But as soon as it did, we built the field and started the 24-hour stopwatch for a robot. Here's the result: 110 points driver skills. Any suggestions for improvements or questions about the robot are welcome.
Specs:
2m drive
1m beaver tail
1m arm

The gear ratio is crucial, it helps you get everything done.
good job
Is it right to assume that you work with Ben Lipper?
They are brothers
Oh they are?
@@karenwearit Yes, Ben Lipper is my brother
Wow
Ohh
how did you build the rubber band part and attach it
It's pretty straightforward; there's no magic to it. You can see it pretty well in the video, just do what you see.
This is the same run as ben lipper...
Yes, it is. I'm Ben's brother, and we work together on building the robot, and then we both post it.
@@Joseph973 ohhh that makes sence... sorry i didnt know u were his brother
This is on ben lipper's channel, did he steal it from you or are you the same person?
We're brothers, we both design and build the robots, and I'm actually the one driving in all the videos
oh! cool!@@Joseph973
I didn’t get the build manual for the field so I have no idea how to build it. Did you get it?
There are no printed field build instructions that came with the field, however you can access the online ones here: content.vexrobotics.com/docs/2022-2023/viqc-slapshot/Field-Assembly.pdf
Do they have go be pushed under the low bar or can they be flung over the bar ?
They have to go under. No part of the robot can cross the bar until the last 15 seconds when they can reach over to increase the points
@@susanoconnor9813 Actually, the rule says that you can only go over the bar to touch the zone if you are in the expansion zone. Time left in the match doesn't matter.
@@Joseph973 Good to know! Thanks! I must have misheard it at Worlds
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you’ve built a second robot don’t want to release it to EVERYONE because it could ruin creativity. Is this true?
I hope Leo was right because I saw spit fire and I was a little disappointed
yo the fields already out?????
We ordered it through robotevents. They usually tend to ship the fields faster than ordering through VEX.
auto for this seems quite impossible without the use of sensors detecting the exact position of the discs after they are release... just a thought
That is an interesting thought, and that makes sense, unless you just plan on there being disks somewhere in the vicinity and just blindly drive through the area where they usually dump.
@@Joseph973 yeah thats something else i was thinking about but its very inconsistent and mainly relies on sheer luck but it also seems as our only option rn... what im guessing tho is some people will eventually figure out a way to detect the position of the disks. something like this maybe ua-cam.com/video/LN5XGXNml_o/v-deo.html
I’m thinking of trying to use a vision sensor to detect them but I don’t know if it’s even possible
Or maybe robots could catch the discs in a hopper then go shoot them
@@Orange_Sock6268 you mean catching them as they are released from the dispensers? thats a good idea but seeing that its different for each type of dispenser it might be difficult
Isn’t there a 70 or so dollar sensor for this? Pretty sure
any luck with shooting designs?
We're getting there...
@@Joseph973 alrighty
Does the stretching mechanism work?
It's pretty straightforward; there's no magic to it. You can see it pretty well in the video, just do what you see.
how can we build this robot????
Check out the reveal video for some close-ups on how it works: ua-cam.com/video/j7EtOpBT97Q/v-deo.html
Did you copy someone and take there footage or did they Ben lipper has exact vid
They’re brothers
Do you use tank control or split arcade control?
I use split arcade
Makes since
@@Joseph973 what is split arcade
@@spaxyoutube1162 It's where you have forward/backward control on the left joystick and left/right turning control on the right stick, as opposed to tank control where one stick controls one side of the drivetrain forward backward and the other stick controls the other half.
