Only Marty plays the solo with the little nuances that most people seem to ignore and make the solo a joy to listen.....Broderick plays the right notes at the right time, basically, and that's it... Kiko, is clearly playing the solo with feeling, with joy, with mastery in his own way, aknowledging that he will never play the solo like marty and that is RESPECT!!! . Saying that Kiko is the best replacement for Marty is not fair, he is an exceptional guitar player on his own.
Broderick's was just...boring. You'd think it would be hard to make that solo boring, but maybe it's kinda like with drums on grid - if it's too "correct" it loses all its feeling.

You have to look at this from a certain perspective. Marty wrote it! Tornado of souls has to be one of the all-time greatest solos ever. The video shows Kiko with some awesome stage presence.
I imagine Kiko must have grown listening to that solo (among many others of Rest in Peace), and so when he had the opportunity to actually play it with the OGs it's just a jolly good time for him. You can see in his face how fucking much he's enjoying it. Love it.

If Kiko wants to add his own way of playing it whilst adding his own special sauce, for me, that's better than just rolling off a copy and sounding like some talented kid in the local guitar store on a Saturday. Take the essence of what the solo is and make it your own. IF it's something like the slow parts off Hotel California or Freebird, you gotta replicate it, but if it's a full on exhibition of vibrato and passion like this solo then you just gotta give it what you got - full guns blazing, in your own style. When you have one of the great metal lead players - like Marty, Schenker, Van Halen, Yngwie, etc (you get the idea) you're not going to out play them or sound better than then at their own game. Add YOUR own spice to it and play it how you need to. If you're in Megadeth, you're probably not hired to sound like someone else.
Ese solo tiene vida propia..es melancólico..triste...pero a la vez tiene fuerza , tiene orden y desorden.. Es un verdadero Tornado ... Es simplemente maravilloso
Dirty Harry - Maybe thats the reason. Our brains are hardwired to "like" or "expect" certain note combos (chords, scales, tridas..blah blah music theory blah blah) so when he misses those notes it gives it that famous Mar-tay "flow" / "feeling" / "humanization". And like is said here already, it's his solo and a bit faster. Broderick has some dope stuff on Endgame but he's too much like xerox machine. (thats a machine that makes photocopies, for anyone born before 2000). If you take a shit on one and press copy, it doesn't come out smelling good or bad, but neither does a rose. Chris's Tornado solo ruined the Rust anniversary concert for me. Which then ruined his Deth Cred with me. Let that be a warning to all..Fuck up 99 Ways to Die, Liar, or Tornado. Instant loss of Deth Cred. And this vid was from when he just got in Deth. Looked a bit dickish with the winks. He's playing for In Flames now it looks like. hmmm Kiko was pretty rad on Dystopia.(Damn that album is 3 years old already...wait that means Endgame is 10 later this year.) Can't leave fair feedback on his Tornado skills here, due to the sound quality of video. No offense Flavio! Always a top Deth debate question!! ESPECIALLY for a song almost 30 years old. Lets add this to the debate, yes it was professionally recorded. Yes, he looks like he's thinking about what Simpson's episode is on that night, but he puts it down. ua-cam.com/video/tXpbfFmH3Zs/v-deo.html and dont forget Marty's words on the subject www.martyfriedman.com/info_archive_detail.php?id=13&det=83
Chris plays the solo great, when he runs down the neck before the famous main part he kinda makes it more technical,.. Marty is truely an incredible artist and plays with so much feeling he rarely ever played that solo the same way, when he runs down the neck is different in every video, that's the way an artist plays as opposed to a technician... Chris's technical ability is second to none.... Truly the best 2 guitarists in Megadeth. My opinion. Sorry I had to edit my original opinion. Marty will always be my favorite,. He's been playing a part in my life for 35 years now. I'm being biased.
Marty should be taken out of this comparison, he is the creator of the solo for God's sake. I'd like to see a comparison between Al, Glenn, Chris and Kiko.
Well, it’s Megadeth man. Any metal musician would love to play in that band. When so many talented man are lined up, picking one of them doesn’t require so much.
@@jjj-qj8lu tbh, I'm sure Dave can play the solo, he's able to play some of the most challenging riffs in metal while also singing at the same time, Dave's a fantastic guitar player and plays several lead solos in alot of their songs. @@jjj-qj8lu I'm not sure if he can do it in first try or sound exactly like marty but he definitely can. If people out here on youtube can, he most certainly can too.If he decides to practice, that is lmao.
This is a perfect solo created by Marty. To this day my favorite Megadeth song because of it. He's a total beast. Chris does a fine job, but you get the feeling he's exactly doing that, a job. No heart in it. Kiko does what a perfect solo deserves, don't mess too much with it, but put in it what's in your soul. That makes him an accomplished artist. I'd say Marty first only cause you can't beat perfection, Kiko a very close second, and Chris at third.
This one is in my top 3 guitar solos of all time. Been lucky enough to see all 3 play it live on multiple occasions. I've never liked Chris' version (saw him 4-5 times). Sometime it would feel like he's playing Guitar Hero missing some notes, but the main problem was it was lacking the energy and momentum this solo has. Saw Kiko play it in one of him early Megadeth concerts. Played it beautifully, very close to Marty's (not like here, which is extra awesome).
This is the exact order. Kiko does a really good job of playing it like Marty I think. Broderick is an amazing guitarist but I can't help but feel like he's more of a machine and less of a human.
@@Vic666DK stop bitching kiddos, for me and most people he is not boring... dont make your childish opinion a statement, Mustaine looked at him for some reason, he is just great on his own
Music is more about feel than precision, but it's even better to have both. Brodericks was more about making every note precise and was very stiff. Marty had both because he made the solo and Kiko added his own twist to it
I love all three. The point is that Broderick and Loureiro are not trying to play it like Friedman instead they're playing their own versions with some little changes as remarks and without losing its spirit. This is beauty of music played by very talented musicians. What a history written by Megadeth!
Okay 👌🏻They'reall amazing but Marty has the best energy, Chris kinda has a cocky arrogance whenHe solos. but Kiko! Love his vib and the last five seconds of that solo is awesome as he kinda customized it to make it his own.
Kiko is definitely a badass in my book, but the reason why Chris has that air of confidence (or, in your words, cocky arrogance, either terms could be used) is he's a straight monster on the fretboard. Mechanical like playing? Yeah. But that's because he has such high skill. Just the intro to Act of Defiance's "Throwback" makes me feel like nothing could compare to him. It's crazy how much ability he has.
I've been playing guitar for 43 years.. Marty is the writer, he's got the internal code for the feel of this solo so he's not exactly as recorded.. Chris was the closest to the recorded version and i found this to be a sign of reverence and respect ... Kiko made no mistakes and injected his own energy and it also made a huge difference for me.. I liked all 3 .. more than one way to skin a cat!
Yep 👍 the drumming made Marty sound way fucking better but still he did have more soul to it and feel although kiko is fucking great this I give to Marty.
Totally right, Marty respects so much this beautiful solo, the others don't care much about the sync but still it is the expected behavior. Kiko is more concentrated on Conquer or die
Well, I'd say that Marty Friedman's solo Is the best here, not only because he wrote it, but also because of the feel he's given it. Both the slow parts (at the bends) and the shreds have been infused with the appropriate feel. The other two are mainly technical people, and especially Chris Broderick, who sounds quite mechanical. Great musicians all of them! B-)
Friedman made it so that's his.,.. But Chris nailed it and looked good doing it. Keep shredding Charlie, you're one of my favorite guitarists.🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸✌️
Kiko really made it his own at this point! Great solo! And Marty's version is full of emotion. Both are amazing guitarists and I like both interpretations of the solo.
Brodrick and Kiko miss the interpretation in the beginning. Pay attention. Probably a wrong score and... Who cares!!! Friedman created the solo. He is the one. Regarding their own creatings, I prefer Megadeth with Kiko than Broderick.
I've been humbled to meet Marty a few times over the years and he's just a beautiful human being who just loves the guitar. Had a great chat with him and it turns our he's a big Viz fan too LOL. Amazing guy. Had a great chat about Elvis and what inspires him musically. Full of advice and happy to share his love for music with you and tips about his style. I met Chris once outside a show and he wouldn't entertain the fans. Wouldn't sign anything and jumped in the cab while Dave Ellefson chatted to us and had a cheeky selfie with us all. Such a shame about Chris. Amazing talent but just a but self absorbed.

Lo unico que se puede decir que el maldito Mustein tiene un ojo para Elegir las segundas guitarras en su Grupo. Pero me quedo con Marty Friedman por su ejecución mas rápida y punzante.
I loved all of them, Chris plays it so perfect and sweeps sound more fluid like than anybody else’s. Marty plays it w out sweeping, he picks all of the notes and plays the scale which sounds unique to him. Kiko simplifies it and makes it his own w more hammer ons. He is the bravest cuz he really makes it his. Like I said though I loved all of them!!
@lange darm yeah, i think that best describes it. all notes kind of sound even from him. no real dynamic. a combination of his tone and very technical playing i think? It's insane how effortlessly broderick pulls it off though
It's perfectly fair. If they want to stand up on stage and play night after night a solo another man wrote it's reasonable and expected for the fans to compare it to the original.
I wonder if the guitarists pass down their Megadeth sweatband as some kind of heirloom. "Kiko, I bequeath this wrist band full of sweat onto thee" "Ew, that's gross" "TAKE IT OR I'LL TELL DAVE"
Brodrick and Kiko are amazing. All these guys are. But to my ear its trying to capture the energy and fluidity of Martys playing. In my book he will always be the best of the best. A real beast !
Marty's the best for _creating_ it. Not sure who's best at _playing_ it, that's probably more a matter of taste... they're all good. David Escobar's version is nice too btw, check it out.
Escobar plays it far better than all these live recordings, but of course, Marty recorded the original and it sounds pretty amazing there. There is even a 16yo French girl (Tina S) that plays it better than the performances in this video.
That’s his problem. Marty and Kiko look like they could pick up any guitar and blast out that solo, but for me Chris Broderick would want to practice it to perfection first. Love his version of Caprice No.7 though👍
That's impossible because there was 3 songs the band had never played live before the rust in peace anniversary on that album - where they played the full album. Marty and Nick were long gone from Megadeth when they finally did.

Kiko was the most entertaining using both sides of stage great facial expressions.
Marty used to run across the stage when he played solos.
Yah, cuz hes been playing the solo since he was 5 🤣
Only Marty plays the solo with the little nuances that most people seem to ignore and make the solo a joy to listen.....Broderick plays the right notes at the right time, basically, and that's it...
@@zaphod888 Drums and lead guitar from that era was super boring. I was happy when they left the band. Dirk is the best thing to happen to the band in years.
well, chris and kiko's play were impressive, but marty's always gives me goosebumps!

Best way to gauge these things.
Love it.
Not sure if he listened to Megadeth that much (it's boring). He were more into power metal and Brazilian native genres.

“Up next: Kiko Practicing Tornado of Souls”
He actually done it
His practice is ok but a ways off
@@N-B-MMA Who cares - it's still great.
I've played guitar since the early 80's and don't go to watch guitar players mimic others.
Nailed it🤣🤘
You crazy son of a bitch, you did it
Ese solo tiene vida propia..es melancólico..triste...pero a la vez tiene fuerza , tiene orden y desorden..
Es un verdadero Tornado ...
Es simplemente maravilloso
I feel like Kiko combines the soul of Marty’s playing with the precision of Chris’s.
I like his version. It was very good =D
i feel like Marty wrote it and performed it like Marty intended with that precision :D
petrucciator Petrucciator Marty could’ve done better. He messed
up quite a bit.
There's something in Marty's phrasing that's very difficult to immitate even though he misses notes.
He's playing for In Flames now it looks like. hmmm
Kiko was pretty rad on Dystopia.(Damn that album is 3 years old already...wait that means Endgame is 10 later this year.) Can't leave fair feedback on his Tornado skills here, due to the sound quality of video. No offense Flavio! Always a top Deth debate question!! ESPECIALLY for a song almost 30 years old.
Lets add this to the debate, yes it was professionally recorded. Yes, he looks like he's thinking about what Simpson's episode is on that night, but he puts it down. ua-cam.com/video/tXpbfFmH3Zs/v-deo.html
and dont forget Marty's words on the subject www.martyfriedman.com/info_archive_detail.php?id=13&det=83
I agree completely. It's his nuance and ability to convey emotion all over the neck at high speed in any kind of style that truly sets him apart
Natural born groove, I call it
Kiko not only played it perfectly but put his own feeling to it. And that's more than just maestry. That's ...art man.

Can we just acknowledge how through so many lineup changes Dave has always been able to find fantastic talent? That’s impressive as hell.
Well, it’s Megadeth man. Any metal musician would love to play in that band. When so many talented man are lined up, picking one of them doesn’t require so much.
No metal guitarist is going to say no to that gig
Same thing with Ozzy - just tons of legends around him all the time)
Auditioning for Megadeth lead guitar role is like selection for any elite special forces😂😂😂😂
Well.. Ellefson found Kiko
I think Chris Broderick is way too underrated, he's literally nuts and he even adds a little bit of flair to the solo that no one talks about
I wonder if Dave has ever played Marty's Tornado solo? That would be fricken epic to see. That would damn near rip a blackhole in our universe.
i have tried this suggestion ..its on my channel!! XD
As a fan of dave im saying this: lets be honest, dave wouldnt be able to play that solo.
@@jjj-qj8lu tbh, I'm sure Dave can play the solo, he's able to play some of the most challenging riffs in metal while also singing at the same time, Dave's a fantastic guitar player and plays several lead solos in alot of their songs. He might have trouble now considering he's almost 60 (although, he can still shred). I can even play the song/solo but clearly not as accurate or clean as these guys can.
@@Zamblinger dude i dont think that youre understanding me.Im not saying that dave is not an amazing guitar player,he surely is and he plays a lot of challenging rhythm stuff.
Marty ripped it, but thing is, Megadeth is way too easy for Kiko.
@BL Yeah, but he wrote the solo tho

This one is in my top 3 guitar solos of all time. Been lucky enough to see all 3 play it live on multiple occasions. I've never liked Chris' version (saw him 4-5 times). Sometime it would feel like he's playing Guitar Hero missing some notes, but the main problem was it was lacking the energy and momentum this solo has.
Saw Kiko play it in one of him early Megadeth concerts. Played it beautifully, very close to Marty's (not like here, which is extra awesome).

Music is more about feel than precision, but it's even better to have both. Brodericks was more about making every note precise and was very stiff. Marty had both because he made the solo and Kiko added his own twist to it
Marty friedman will ALWAYS be the best. hands down.
Well, he created that beast of a solo. It makes sense.
Marty attacks that solo the other two guys played it.
Chris looks cocky because he's that good
Marty's solo, all played well but Chris was cleanest. 1st time I've watched him play it.
“Clean” isn’t really a quality here.
One of the main reasons i like Dave’s guitar playing is because it’s NOT clean.

Weird that we were recommended this at about the same time. Lmfao what an algorithm

And his more natural vibrato and feel. And the fact that he wrote the damned solo.
Yep 👍 the drumming made Marty sound way fucking better but still he did have more soul to it and feel although kiko is fucking great this I give to Marty.
Hell yeah!
I fell in love with Megadeth because of the songs from the "Marty era" so he is always "THEE" Megadeth guitarist to me.
Marty’s tone is inimitabile, end of the story.
Totally right, Marty respects so much this beautiful solo, the others don't care much about the sync but still it is the expected behavior. Kiko is more concentrated on Conquer or die
BRB going to look up inimitable
Yes I agree his tone is inimitable, Dave’s voice is also inimitable
Marty has the strangest right hand posture that I've ever seen. But his hand tone is just deadly.
nice sum up. I felt Broderick to be the most technical. But It's the whole package that counts.
I get the feeling that Chris was bored. Just a job for him. Kiko was different. Gave it his own spin.

Kiko really made it his own at this point! Great solo! And Marty's version is full of emotion. Both are amazing guitarists and I like both interpretations of the solo.
Undoubtedly, Marty Friedman was the one who invented that guitar solo, but Chris Broderick is definately awesome.
Todos tienen cosas buenas. Kiko es muy técnico, chris le mete una pasión y suena bárbar. Marty es epico porque él compuso esta obra de arte
