- Who plays Megadeth's Tornado Of Souls Solo the BEST? Marty Friedman, Al Pitrelli, Glen Drover, Chris Broderick or Kiko Loureiro? It's a tough call to make given the fact that all these players are outrageously talented. In this video I compare a live performance of each player shredder this iconic metal lead to find out who the real winner is. Post your opinion on who executed this ripping solo the best in the comments.

if i buy the lesson do i need anything else besides the payment?
Glen Drover hands down plays it better than all else!
gee wizzzz let me just give you my money so i can be a idiot like you....NOT
Chris Broderick, cheated a little with that 7 string. But was more thorough.
Chris Poland actually came back and phrased out a lot of te harmonies and basic structure of the album 'rust in peace' though!!!! To me,Chris is the true megadeth lead guitarist but him and Dave just can't get along and are a bad influence on eachother, etc etc......just in different moments in life, I guess!?
They're all great but no one can SQUEEZE every drop of juice out of those bends like Marty!
Nobody can squeeze juice like Ellefson though.
@@efa666 hey now.........
Marty and kiko are a tie for me then Chris. The others weren't all that good
I think Pitrelli's take on the solo sounded the most off by far, hard to even say its the same solo lol. Ofc he is an incredible player but for this song.. thats a no from me
@@Rosterized It was kind of like he didn't have "intuitive feel" for the funky tonality Marty used so his own improv and the original bits didn't quite fit together
In order for me:
1- Marty
2- Kiko
3- Broderick
4- Drover
5- Pitrelli
All of them were great but this is my preference.
I'd switch Kiko and Chris, otherwise the same.
agree
id switch pitrelli with drover i thought drover wasnt good thats y he didnt last at megadeth
I've seen even better versions from Kiko, and he nails all Marty's solos with such "ease", and usually with more details and feeling than Broderick. So I wouldn't change this order, but Kiko is even better player than Marty, and so is Broderick if you only watch their technique and speed. But Marty is the best composer, and has more feeling.
Same here.
Mark from Jag Panzer here. I spent several years touring and recording with Chris Broderick. All the guys shown in the video are excellent, miles beyond me! Chris’s technique is from another planet. I’ve been around a lot of great guitarists in my life, but I have yet to see anyone play with the precision of Chris Broderick. Nice guy too, incredible work ethic and all around great bandmates. Don’t take this comment as a criticism of the other guys, just consider it a pro-Broderick comment.
Broderick probably has the cleanest and most precise shredding out of any megadeth guitarist
Broderick is a great guitar player but Marty is Marty and nobody will ever let that go. Either way Dave let Chris go and who knows for what reason.
Dave is Dave And the revolving door continues.
Huge fan of Jag Panzer here. You and Joey Taffola were amazing.
I put him in 4th place for this topic, but he is great! I was a big fan of seeing him play alongside Jeff Loomis too.
For me Kiko is the best at giving me eargasms with those monster licks. They just scratch me the right way, the way he's able to hold those notes, he has so much artistic style and flair. So much soul, and such great stage presence.
After I have just watched the video I can safely say that Kiko is the most overrated Megadeth guitarist of all time. He's not bad, but he missed some cool features that Marty's original solo had, which puts him in the league with Drover and Pitrelli. In comparison Broderick treated original solo with the most respect.
@@stam1ska So true. What you are saying about Kiko. Kiko likes to "hang out" up in the "upper" octave. Marty and Broderick tease my ears with "deep" bends, and to lolly-gag around down in the "low" spaces. They both (Marty and Broderick) come up for air. With some catchy trills. But Kiko likes to take "root" up there. And Broderick found a way to take the solo, and make it his. To pour his "feels" in there. But, at the same time, he left enough of the original spirit so (a person) actually knows where they are. That is a very "fine line". And Broderick nailed it.
Same...on watching Marty recnetly play with Megadeth again, being kiko present there at Budokan, too...
I just missed Kiko's version of the solo...of course, all of them, are great!
Young boy.
Kiko is far beyound the Megadeath... Just hear the albuns "Angels cry", Holy Land" and "Rebirth" from Angra and you'll see it...
He can play those little songs from Megadeath with the 2 hands tied up. Lol
Marty aside, Broderick seems to play everything effortlessly. However robotic he looks, his fret hand is so precise and easy on the eyes to follow and see the notes he's hitting.
Most important you can hear the notes.
Having seen most of them playing in Megadeth live I can safely say Chris is by far the most technically gifted, he makes it all look soooo easy. Kiko is close but he focuses a bit more on being an entertainer. But yeah if anything Chris is tooo good, it looks kinda boring. Nobody gives the feels like Marty though.
Amen to this.
But I think that hurts this solo in particular. The way Marty "fights" tye bends with that ferocity is what gives tye solo that feel.
You hire Friedman to write the soul, you hire Broderick to play it correctly lol
I found Al Pitrelli's version very interesting. He added his own style without losing the essence of the solo, pretty nice.
Tyler from music is win has his own interpretation of the solo
Yes, you can hear Al’s blues influence of The Allman Brothers and Zepplin when he phrases the licks. And his picking is out of this world.
1. Marty Friedman
2. Kiko Loureiro
3. Chris Broderick
4. Glen Drover
5. Al Pitrelli
Marty. It’s a great solo, but what puts it on the next level is how marty makes it feel like it’s going off the rails. How he ebbs and flows the tempo inside the tempo, and then will grab a note on a bend from an accidental. All these guys are great players, Marty’s use of f*ckery is just perfect for that song.
That is exactly what was missing, it feels like how a real 'Tornado' swings by, curbing and warping it's form.
You hit the nail on the head, they all played it great but that element of ebb & flow is the magic of this iconic solo.
Amen. Good comment!
It's exactly why almost everyone, including SRV, fuck up Hendrix, why drummers fuck up GnR, etc. Certain players have a distinct feel to what they do that explicitly comes with messing up timing to create a signature swing.
I personally think guys like Broderick sound absolutely terrible when playing his solos. Who gives a flying fuck about precision when the life is sucked out of it.
Yes. Great words.
One thing that Marty does and nobody else does is that he picks EXTREMELY HARD, and he can do it because of his weird gypsy-jazz-like right hand technique. You can just hear him attacking those notes.
Kiko was very close especially with that killer phrasing and his awesome stage presence however Marty did write the solo lol so I don’t think anyone can play it better than the original
He was kind of sloppy to be honest.
@@dontbothertoreply9755 he does always run around the stage during the hard parts
Al Pitrelli was so underrated, I love watching the live performance "Rude Awakening", Al is awesome on every song and the She-Wolf extended version is absolutely awesome
I couldn't agree more. Al was awesome. stage presence was great. I do believe Rude Awakening has been Megadeth BEST ever live performance
Totally agree
Its just sad he is so underrated. He is one of the best out there.
Marty of course. I mean, he wrote it.
Yeah and sometimes when he added stuff he made it even better live
At least we agree on that, Mickey. Have you seen the clip A Week and a Half in Life of Metallica from 1995 that I posted to you a few days ago?
@@xrt7874 Yes. I got it. 👍🏻
Gotta love kiko they all rocked but he has the best balance of skill and feel, love him. Obviously Marty is the best since he wrote it
Al Pitrelli wrote some great solos during his time in the band. Dread and the fugitive mind rules.
check out recipe for hate warhorse cover , cheers..ps Al toured Aust with deth in 2001 I was front row very good..ua-cam.com/video/Zy042gNSpWA/v-deo.html
Agreed!
Dread and fugitive solo is very underrated!!!
@@akiryal1176 Dave's parts are really good too.
Dread And The Fugitive Mind is Al's Tornado Of Souls.
Marty's version still sounded best to me... The next two were maybe a bit messy on a couple of parts, but Kiko's version sounded very effortless and kind of smooth. Like I'm sure he could play the same a lot faster than that. Unfortunately the sound quality was worst during his part. As far as writing goes, Marty is obviously the best. The others have written some good solos, but Marty's solos have have been legendary in his choice of modes and melodies. Even if Mustaine claimed that he always told Marty what to play. I guess the other players haven't been as good listeners as him! So that's 3-0 for Marty.
Listen to angra stuffs kiko has way amazing solos than you think
@@amanbhakta4524 I'm not saying he doesn't, and Al Pitrelli has great solos on Savatage's Wake of Magellan for example, but they haven't done their best work for Megadeth.
@@praiha marty stayed for the maximum time in megadeth , kiko has only worked for 1 album , he has so much to offer , and even he said that he is not given much creative control
Yeah, Dave claimed that he sang the solos he wanted to Marty, but I find that extremely hard to believe. Assuming he isn't lying outright maybe he came up with the overall melody, but a lot of the runs that Marty plays are very unique and add a flavor that doesn't seem like Dave's style at all and seem 100% Marty. I've never heard Marty contradict Dave on this, but perhaps he's confident in knowing that the audience will use their ears and make up their own minds on that one.
Dave Ellefson played a solo so hot it got him fired.
Great point about being yourself. Marty makes that very point in a number of interviews I've seen. When he started out as a guitarist he knew (at that time) he couldn't shred like many people in his local scene, so he focused on bringing something different by incorporating the eastern influences into his playing. For me, this really shows for me in the way Marty bends, as well as his phrasing, and some of the notes he chooses to emphasise. That feel is what makes his playing so great (I love his solo records, btw). IMO, Kiko is the only other player who sounds like he's locked-in to that feel. It's awesome that Marty plays on Kiko's latest solo record.
One thing to consider when thinking about whether they play it like the record is social media. From the perspective of how exactly Marty plays the solo, everyone and their gran now has instant access to a million videos analysing the solo in minute detail. It feels like the solo has almost taken on a life of its own. While it's always been something that metal guitarists love, I don't think it was anything like the fervour of following that it has now. If Al or Glen were playing it now, maybe they would feel they had to be more true to the original.
Of course he could not shred as many people as his hand picking is an abomination.
I personally like Kiko better as a player and as a musician. But, does it really make sense to compare an original to anything else? Other players may sound more sharp or technical, but whoever created the solo will always have some extra points in that score.
Well said
In other words Marty is the best.
Of course, but Kiko’s sounded damn good too 😎
kiko is the more roudned musician but lets be honest he doesnt the speed and technique to play these solos as record, he is always changing shit and dumb it down
Absolutely!! That's my thinking too. Let the others come up with a comparable solo and then we have something to score each on
People complaining about Broderick being robotic need to realize that he is an absolute beast on guitar who is not only very technically profficient but he’s also a very musical guitar player . Listen to his solos in Megadeth’s endgame , thirteen and overall rhythm and solo parts in act of defiance records he’s also a great classical guitar player and has a degree on classical guitar.
Listen to the dude in Jag Panzer...my lord!
Just listen to Nevermore and you see how great of a soloist he is
I watched Marty play this front row at a club in Dallas, sat on his tour bus and also met Chargeee and watched him play this in his set still. And yep. Marty is king plain and simple. His solo stuff puts him on the level of Vai, Paul Gilbert, Malmsteen and, like Joe Satriani. It elevated him from band member to 'the guy with the guitar that people are paying to just see him play' and that to me is true guitar god status.
Marty gives it the original feeling, but I always appreciated Broderick for respecting other solos and trying to do it like the original
Kiko has such a great attitude. Just wanted to point that out
He seems like a chill guy.
Kiko beats them all with style, flair and stage presence.
@@waynejohnting2954 He's insanely talented. It was so pleasant to watch him play live with MD.
I think Glen Drover improvised that solo beautifully
Man, they really all did so well playing Marty's solo, loved this video, bravo. 👏
I have to say that Broderick's interpretation was very melodic and tasty, very technical and prescise, and I really enjoyed the way he ended it. Chris definitely played it closest to the album version, and he had my favorite take on the ending of the solo out of all of them except Marty. Kiko has a ton of feel and great stage presence, but he played a couple things that just went off the rails at the end of solo for me, but the fact he can do all that while having such a good time is ridiculous, I'm so glad he's in Megadeth. Not surprisingly though, the creator of the genius solo takes it for me. He really plays it with the most feel, and it's truly iconic watching Marty play it. He really wrote a legendary solo for this song. I really do think they all did a tremendous job playing the solo.
If I have to make my list, and this is all subjective, based on just what I liked hearing the most, it would be;
1. Friedman
2. Broderick
3. Loureiro
4. Drover
5. Pitrelli
Agree with this list, although think Pitrelli was 4 and Drover the least impressive. But yeah 1. Marty 2. Brods 3. Kiko.
Rust in Peace is their best album and Marty's influence made them reach their potential with their song writing.
Marty is their best!!!
My opinion is that there are people who are more skilled in writing music more then playing. Others better at playing then writing. Unlike most guitarist Friedman can write and play guitar like a God. Thats what makes him so godamn good.
The true winner is Dave! He gets great musicians for his band. I also think Kiko is the best. He literally had to learn all the parts of his predecessors while creating his own style for the band.
Yes Megadeth has got some best guitarists in the world
That is a great observation about Kiko. His degree of difficulty is the highest.... until the next guy joins the band...
@@michaellmiller2382 yes infact Kiko uses every fucking guitar technique that no other Megadeth guitar has used
Divide and Conquer is a classic Megadeth song so I'd say he's achieved it. If I didn't already know and you told me that was a long lost track that Marty did I'd believe you.
@@drewjohnson4794 I believe you mean conquer or die? And if so, yes, I agree that he's achieved it.
They’re all absolutely incredible guitarists !! My personal favorite is Al Pitrelli. Mad respect how he plays it on an explorer with no Floyd Rose on it. Chris also did an incredible job. At the end of the day the originator will be the best at capturing their own essence but all these guys are amazing. That is how I am striving to play, have a bit of work to do lol . Great video !
I've been playing this and hangar 18 since they were on tour for the album. If I play it to speed, I lose the feel. If I play it and get the feel right, I'm too slow. 😅
Marty and Kiko are both master wizards. Broderick did a great job too.
1. Marty - no explanation required
2. Pitrelli - always loved his take on the solo from Rude awakening. Not as precise, definitely a bit looser than the others but great feel and expression.
3. Kiko - best middle ground between precision and feel.
4. Drover - admittedly not the biggest fan of Drovers very shreddy style but I was impressed with this version
5. Broderick - probably has the best technique like you said. But honestly I can't stand his style. I hear all technicality but no expression and this solo demands expression.
Marty is the top one here. I mean, he wrote the solo and every live performance of that solo by him is amazing.
About the others, I guess Al Pitrelli is the 'worst' one here, don't get me wrong, the guy is a very capable and amazing guitarrists but for that solo, he didn't show all his skills.
Drover was very precise and it was a nice performance but some parts were a bit out of the feeling the solo has.
Broderick is the most technical and precise here, but lacks the presence and feeling the solo has. I mean, the guy is a monster when doing fast lick, fast scales, sweetpicking, etc, etc, that man is awesome.
Kiko has a realy amazing stage presence, and the guy has a really nice technique mixed with a really expressive way of play the guitar. He wasn't too precise but did a really awesome performance of that solo like closer to Marty. (Still I can't forgive him for changing the solo of Dread and Fugitive Mind everytime they play the song live).
Broderick makes everything look so easy. Technique wise he's at the top.
@Truth is Harsh ok
Megadeth lead guitarist ranking:
1. Marty
2. Poland
3. Kiko
4. Everyone else
1. Poland
2. Jeff Young (this guy rules)
3. Al Pitrelli
@@themechanix8804 Jeff is not so memorable in Megadeth.
@@panicoestatico9260 ok. That's your opinion.
I actually find Glen Drovers solo incredibly amazing!
Marty, Al and Glen play like humans, the other two are just like robots. Perfection kills music.
I don't think he gets enough appreciation for how good of a guitar player he is. I will admit I'm biased because he's actually good friend of mine but I always tell that sentiment before I became friends with the guy
@@michaelhodilofficial that's so cool! I always thought he was a GREAT guitar player, among the best
@@AspergerL super nice guy to to say the least
One of the greatest solos from one of the greatest metal songs on one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
Glen drover always gonna be my favorite guitarist, dude is crazy good, and makes some killer riffs
Wish he stayed longer.
I'll say Broderick for the technique and Pitrelli for the feeling.
Also...i guess it makes no sense that Friedman should be in the list. Because he is the one who wrote the solo. So...all performances by the guitarrists after he left the band should be based on his playing and everything. Don't you think?
Tornado of souls was writen, recorded, and performed by Marty Friedman. No one can ever play it better than thelegand himself. Chris Broderick performed a bind blazing version, which no one can compare. But this was Marty's brain child. You can copy all you want, but the solo was writen by the master, and legand himself. Marty fucking rules!
We can't know for sure until we see Guthrie Govan play this solo
Mancuso stomps on Guthrie.
@@dontbothertoreply9755Can Mancuso play on fretless guitar? Play slap guitar? Play Slide guitar on standard? Create notes by bending notes off fret board? If he can't, then he's not better than Guthrie.
Imagine getting to play this for/with megadeth for real after years of loving their music, thats gotta be a trip
No question - Marty sounds like Marty, instantly - his bends and vibrato are like a fingerprint. The others guys all killed it technically, but blindfolded, I doubt I could tell them apart.
Glenn is completely different than Al and different from Broderick, the only one that kind of sounds like Marty is Kiko who has an even more aggressive bend but still you can see a lot of differences, I think technically they all are better than Marty.
Honestly, I think Broderick is the only one I've heard who can do a studio accurate cover of the solo live without missing a single note. I mean that as no disrespect to any of the other guitarists, especially not Marty, but when it comes to "technical ability" Broderick just makes everything look and sound effortless, considering he's used to extremely technical playing. I will say, however, that I think it's a double-edged sword. While Broderick practically won't miss a note, it can come at the cost of feeling. I prefer Marty's phrasing, even if he misses a note here and there, because there's so much passion and rawness behind it. I also love Broderick, however, for how buttery smooth he makes the solo sound
(And before anyone says it, NO, I do not think Broderick is the "best" MD guitarist. I do firmly believe he's the most technically proficient, but I do not consider him to be in the same category of a writer as Marty. I believe writing memorable solos is the most important thing, and Marty takes that, no question)
Al Pitrelli brought his own flavour to the solo without ruining... He do with his own style
He played it harder than everyone else. At his knees with a Gibson Explorer. lol.
Everyone go get your hankey's, sit down and be prepared for alot of tears. Now type Tina S. Tornado of souls in your search box and press enter.
Best play through.. Chris Broderick,, best stage presence,, Kiko. Props to Marty for composing..
Marty is the father, no one can play it better than Marty.
Line up DM, MF, NM, DE was the best in my opinion. Megadeth is my favorite band ever. look at my nick name lol
Broderick seems to play everything flawlessly… 🤘🏻🤘🏻
very precise yea
Yup! I watched original video, without looking who plays. Absolute winer was Broderick. And the best tone of guitar, Glen. But, no doubt, all are masters
@@predomir everyone played well.. Broderick played well.. he was hitting all the notes but less emotion.. kiko left few notes.. but very few and had lots of emotion like sliding and bending..
not only that he's a jazz guitar teacher dude.. he's amazing
Like a MACHINE, hahaha!
Chris' rendition is my personal favorite. He probably has the least in terms of phrasing and playing with 'personality' but his technical skill and precision is so clean I'm willing to overlook it. Kiko and Marty would be a close 2nd and 3rd who make better use of phrasing.
Aside from Marty....give me Kiko hands down #1!!! Major Respect for ALL of them!!! They ALL give this masterful solo THEIR own interpretation WITHOUT changing the very concept of that solo!!😊😊😊
Marty is a legend for writing this solo, but when it comes down to it Kiko is by far the best. Amazing stage presence, unbelievable technique, crazy feel, and does everything so effortlessly. I feel like it’s pretty easy to jump on the Marty bandwagon and while I love Marty and his playing, Kiko definitely takes the cake on this. What’s most important however is that every one of these players are amazing in their own right and could play circles around any of us.
Marty, Marty, Marty all freakin' day long. The best. I replayed it all and it's still Marty.
Marty writes the best solos!
Kiko - 1st Stage Pres, 2nd Solo
Chris B - 2nd Stage Pres, 1st Solo
Mustaine said that Chris Poland wrote all the solos for Rust In Peace before he left and Freidman reinterpreted them on the record. He doesn't remember how much of the leads changed. It would be cool hear Poland's version too
All the guys are a monster ...
Great work Marty and great interpretation of you all guys ..
Kiko is the only one who seems to get the solo and isn't just playing it note for note. No one plays Marty like Marty but it's a close imitation of the feel.
Friedman, Loureiro and Broderick in that order are my top 3 Megadeth lead guitarists (excluding Dave of course)
To befair, even Marty doesn't play it like Marty anymore. And Kiko enjoys every second, it's delightful to watch and listen, everyone is so tense, ready for the moment, watching every note...and then kiko is worried about making it awesome for the fans.
You described it perfectly!
Broderick and kiko nailed it man🔥 yeah obviously Marty is the one who wrote it but apart from marty, this two guys nailed it man.
Marty wrote it, and is phenomenal and plays it the best
And Chris plays they way it was written. He comes in second The others did great in their own right !
Marty and Chris for sure, but I have to say having that 7th string makes a difference.
marty es incomparable, pero la versión de loureiro es magnifica
I truly believe that the key answer is in the picking hand, too, and Marty has such a unique style, just look how his thumb moves while picking. I also believe that Marty's way of touching the fretboard is not only the most efficient, but the most elegant. Some of the players didn't always manage to play the chords in the same positions Marty did, especially Pitrelli and Drover, but Kiko, also.
Absolutely Kiko. Clean, clear and stage presence.
Marty of course can't be discounted.
Marty - Kiko - Broderick - Pitrelli - Drover. That is my list.
Marty hands down... but Kiko is close and it works well
Kiko is note by note and no mistake he is awesome
As a former band mate of Chris Broderick, I'm a little biased. But, Marty invented it so he's the best. 2nd Kiko for playing it while showing great audience relationship. 3rd my man Chris. However any of these gentlemen playing this incredible solo should have everyone's respect. 🤘🔥🔥🔥🤘🙏💛
Kiko is a killer musician but marty is incredible and I’ll always(!!!) have a soft spot for him
KIKO. (no one can beat the O G Marty) 🖤for Chris too - technically brilliant
There was never going to be a contest for Marty, but for second best I gotta give it to Glenn, very underrated but captured its essence the best. Kiko is a close second because he made it seem so easy to play, but musically it's Glenn. Al and Chris murdered it.
You have completed my day with 3 minutes to spare and have set up the next perfectly
Chris Poland hands down - the best guitarist to ever play in Megadeth. Not necessarily the best guy to play Megadeth songs but easily the best all around guitar player imho.
Dope video!!
I give it to both Kiko and Marty.
They are the only ones who get it all done. They are precise, complex, deliberate, controlled, and awesome... The other three are each lacking something... Buuuut, Kiko was a little more precise than Marty.... Buuuut*2, Marty looks cooler while doing it... and he wrote the song so his style jives better with the music (obviously)....
Therefore, Marty AND Kiko... no one does Marty better than Marty, but Kiko does Marty pretty darn good....
My rank is Marty, then Pitrelli, then Broderick, the Kiko, and finally Drover. Drover was playing beyond his ability. Kiko seemed to hit hit a bum note while changing riser to play on.
closest to Marty was Kiko in my opinion. I think he captured the spirit best.
Kiko wins it for me, great presence/showmanship, actually looks like he's having fun, feels like you're in safe hands and the phrasing sounded top tier.
Broderick did it the best live. The album version that Marty put down can't ever be replicated.
Many covers in UA-cam playing that solo just identical the original......
kiko is literally a record playing, there is no mistake he is a robot, not just in the solo of tornado of souls, but in every song it's unbelievable
Broderick from those clips. Best tone, and really gets the flow and timing right on for the breakout solo part coming after the last fugue part at 7:19.
Yeah, killer tone indeed
I’d like it if you went deeper into the music theory behind these videos, shred.
What are the pedal tones/chord progressions?
Marty Friedman for the win. ❤️🎸🤘😜🔥
The irony in all of this is that when you watch Marty play it and compare to the actual solo on the album, he's the only one playing an "incorrect" note in the fast lick. While the album solo ascends on each bar, and each of the subsequent Megadeth leads play it that way like on the album, Marty himself always instead repeats the first bar's notes. Always found that interesting.
Nobody talks about Jeff Young. Even Scott forgot about him :(
Has Jeff Young ever played Tornado of Souls? He left band before Rust in Peace cd.
"Who Plays Megadeth's Tornado Of Souls Solo the BEST?" Teemu.
Whatever someone’s opinion is, one thing is for sure that Dave Mustaine picks awesome guitarists.
Yeah Marty of course, he wrote it!, who else could play it like him. Kiko is great lots of feel, best since Marty imho...but they all greats..
Broderick and Kiko (and ofc marty) were the only ones playing it accurately. The other ones kinda improvised some parts. The sound of kikos clip wasn't the greatest but I think overall he wins because of his amazing stage presence and almost flawless playing
Kiko did not played exactly all of the notes however the sound was really bad on his version.
I absolutely prefer Chris...only in his performance you can hear every single note of the solo played with a terrific precision.
He plays closest to the album version and that's great!
I prefer Marty because he plays it like a blues guitarist, really feeling all the notes he put there, and even if some timing or note is different it still fits just right cuz he plays it with feeling.
Marty is the best for this solo for this time period, but kiko is probably the best overall guitarist theyve ever had. Dude is a legend.
yeah some natural-successor thing
I'll credit Marty for being the composer. They play this better than each other. We're talking about great guitarists here who gave us the legendary Megadeth over the years. Cheers from Botswana, Africa
Marty is the best since he wrote it, but kiko has a great stage presence and soul in his playing.
Well let me think... Marty Friedman. But Kiko definately leaves everyone else eating dust (Period). I agree that Kiko has definately the best stage presence. P. S. Kiko is 50, but looks 40. Dave is 60 but looks dead... Probably, He finally woke Diana while arriving home drunk... Cheers! Beautiful your channel! I watch it all the time!
Either Kiko or Marty. Marty plays it perfectly. Kiko does too but he has great stage presence.
Definitely excellent combination !!!
My fave version its the Al Pitrelli one, I love how he put his style on the solo and didn't felt the necessity to play like the original just because the fans wanted. Ah ok, Glen also did the same thing but...
Btw a thing that everybody's should know is that Marty magnificent solos on RIP was inspired on the solos by Chris Poland on the RIP demos, we just have 3 of these demos but Poland said on a interview that he recorded all the songs except for Hangar 18. I would love to see your analysis on Chris's solos on the demos and also a little comparison with Marty ones, I think that's very interesting.
Don't care who played it, I loved them all. Banged my head to all. Can listen to the damn song all day long. 🙌
Marty but Kiko was right there. They're all badasses though
Marty wrote and recorded the solo in the studio, so obviously he's number 1. 2 and 3, I'd say Broderick and then Kiko. Kiko has a good stage presence, but Broderick slayed that solo with such surgical precision I have to put him above Kiko, although Kiko did a great job as well. Last two, Drover then Pitrelli.
Marty doesn’t count. So Broderick and Kiko. Music is not a competition! 👍
Chris > Kiko > Al > Glen (in this regard, anyways...Chris in Jag Panzer and Kiko in Angra were AMAZING).
