well, there was a relativly big reaction couple that dropped the show after episode 8
but they gave it another chance later and after season 2 I think they like it now. Not what happens in episode 8, no one is seriously defending that. Good thing the main topic of the show is: People can change.

The whole point of the haystack scene in ep6 was for this episode to have the scene with the ring and show us he's, slowly, growing as a person.
The reason why people hate this show is cus its too real. Its very close to reality when it shows the ugly side of people. People say redemption and expect controversial tendencies to go away next episode.
Thats not reality. People learn, relapse and either stop or keep working at it. People only wanna see the yay im a better person, yay im redeemed moments. They dont wanna see the relapses. They dont wanna see growing pains.
This is a show about a 30 year old traumatized degenerate, having a second chance pf life. One episode will never be enough to reprogram 30 years of trauma. The guy was literally locked in his room for most of that time and only had the internet to teach him about the world. And some people don’t understand how bad internet culture can be.
Life is full of struggle. This story is about the Mc’s new life. I obviously dont know everything bout this series but im glad some people stick with it for the good n the bad.

Someone once said something the perfectly describes rudeus’s mentality at the start of the series, rudeus is a 30 something year old who, due to trauma from sexual assault, has the mental age and maturity of a high schooler. Add on internet culture like you said and you get rudeus’s character.
While his situation is different and his personality and actions are at the extreme ends of the spectrum, his character is extremely real to everyone in one aspect or another. Although no one (hopefully) can relate to the character at all times, everyone can see themselves in him. The way in that this story uses rudeus and every other messed up character in the story to help teach people healthier ways to overcome faults and use them to further your own character is honestly why this is my favorite story. Well said
You´l be surprised how dirty were noble families in the past centuries. Mushoku is implementing it in small way.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but I believe all the languages shown in the anime are (real) made up languages, that can be deciphered & translated. I could be wrong though it's been a while (-_- ;)..

I dunno how far ahead you are on Patreon so I'll say this now, the OVA (Eris The Goblin Slayer, listed on Crunchyroll as Ep24) is best viewed as an episode 16.5 or 17.5. 16.5 because it's events happening at the exact same time as ep16, or 17.5 because you might just want to get on with the story instead of breaking up the two episode arc. Either way works.
I tend to think this isn't just a regular Isekai when someone gets a second chance because they were wronged in some way in the previous one.
He was wronged by his peers, but he also gave up on his previous life and was very much a degenerate.
It makes me think that he's existing in a realm perfectly designed for him. A personal purgatory of sorts, between heaven and hell.
His second chance is to value himself and others better.
15:59 what do you mean by him stealing the ring? You mean Eris' ring? He wasn't trying to steal the ring. He was trying to touch her like he did on the haystack previously. But he saw the ring, thought about what it represents, and decided against doing it. He didn't want the ring. XD
Yeah, rudeus at the haystack scene , represents how he objectifies women and just thought that what he's doing is a joke, and the ring scene, shows how rudeus realised that eris is a human and what he's about to do is bad.
Something I like about this anime (since I haven't read the light novels, although I have spoiled myself a bit) is that the world and characters are all simultaneously beautiful and disgusting. How as the series progresses, you'll have complicated feelings towards everyone and everything. Yet the most admirable I think is that while there are things you won't like, there are moments that could either offset, or in some instances, overcome those shortcomings. It's those moments that make me really appreciate the series as a whole.
Much like real life, it makes me love and appreciate the life I'm living in now, and how this series helps me work on being a better person.

that is unfortunate they skipped many of world building stuff. they are not really important but give us something else besides worry about mc doing something. And we didnt get many views of other characters. there are mini chapters in LN that 1 or 2 pages long that gives us perspective. Lack of these 2 makes us focus on mc and his sturggles and faults. it can be good to focus on mc and his devolopment but at the same time it causes this strange ^what is he gonna do now' feeling. to be honest it is overall good episode a little dissapointing maybe.
