Mentally conditioning yourself to think that the adult age in this world is 15yo is the right call when consuming this type of media. I had to do the same when I read the Game of Thrones books where most of the main characters are teenagers. Like, Daenerys was getting smashed by Khal Drogo at 13 in the book version lol. And from what I observed from most reactors, this is probably the hardest episode to get through in terms of Rudy being a creep, so hopefully things will be smoother for you guys from this point on XD
This show demonstrates the difference in knowledge and maturity. He has childlike maturity due to his trauma, even though he has the knowledge of an older adult.
Alot of people dont pick up on the fact that although a mentally stunted adult, he still has the memory and personality of his past life, he also is mentally his age on this life as well. Its kind of rushed through as a joke, but as a 2year old he pissed himself and couldn't help but cry about it. Also, imagine being a 30 pervert going through puberty. No wonder his inner creep is constantly breaking throug.
Awesome job of getting over the ep6-7 hump! The cringe never disappears but it definitely takes more of a backseat to the story from here.

It is frustrating those pointless conversations about when he is of age then is normal, it also shows lack of attention to realize that it is different to be transported than reborn, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 35 YEAR OLD BRAIN IN A NEW BRAIN. Also with that twisted logic the only women for Rudeus would be 35 year old women dating a 10 year old boy.
Apparently Hilda was the one that sent Eris to Rudy’s room. Due to Eris’s position and aggressive personality, she will almost certainly become a concubine in some political deal and likely never end up happy. Rudy is growing to be an important person. If she were to marry him, she would likely be happy and she already likes him.
I heard Rudy was so upset with himself after the incident that he wanted to kill himself until Eris came back and forgave him, but that wasn’t fully conveyed in the anime.
Rudy has the mental development of a teenager despite his 40 years of memories. His mental issues long stunted his growth, but he is finally growing up now in this world. It’s not that Rudy is too old for Eris, it is he is still too young for her. He is simply not mature enough for that type of relationship yet.
We saw how this made it difficult for Paul to raise Rudy. One moment he’d act like a typical child, another he would talk like an adult and even talk rings around him. On top of that he became so gifted with magic so quickly. Rudy seemed far more mature than he really was.
What I really like about this anime is watching Rudy improve over time. At this point it’s a little three steps forward, two steps back. I cheer at his advancements and jeer and then rally at his fallbacks. He thinks himself worthless and can’t understand when he does good things assuming ulterior motives. He is a much better person than he thinks he is, which is sad, and it why I want to see him overcome it.
Those are my two cents; your opinion may vary.
It's crazy to me that people find this episode problematic when we were given the setting and background of the family rudy was reborn into. Things like this happened in real-life history all the time it's nothing new. This type of stuff still happens with the modern rich people of today for political purposes or whatever.
I know someone is gonna mention Rudy is an adult despite the fact that he is canonically a ten year old. Also, Oshi no ko's Aqua is in the same position as Rudy, and no one (from what I've seen) has dared to claim he's a p-word despite him having a potential love interest in two girls who haven't experienced rebirth like him.
I understand people being uncomfortable, but if the first four episodes didn't make you realize what the story is deliberately doing, then I don't know what to tell you.
This episode perfectly shows how people flip-flopp with how they view Rudy. First, it's he's a child now he's suddenly an adult.
The difference is that Aqua isnt groping or grooming any children unlike rudy who is

There is no proof of grooming in this any of Rudy's actions. Mind you, I have watched all available episodes of Mushoku tensei. Rudy has Gropped, yes. But grooming, absolutely not.
Search what the word grooming means in a sexual context and then compare them to Rudy's actions. It doesn't fit the bill.

Don't get me wrong Rudy is a pervert and a creep, but barring him from legitimate romance from those his own age doesn't feel right. Especially if those girls are the ones pursuing the relationship.
The love hate relation with MT is next level. It is hard to watch at times, but it is a really good show

Rudy‘s past life is 30y/o above but i don't think he’s really mentally 30y/o above，his mental age kinda freeze when those thing happened to him. Just imagine a person be alone in 10+years it might become psychopath in physical，mental or just both. Although he got an advantage of 30+years of growing in mentally but he dosen't have an actual environment to grow properly in his past life. I'm not defending that him doing pervert thing，but just don't be too harsh to a person that don't have a chance to grew properly.
If he lived 30 years, his body and mind developed for 30 years, it's simple. There's no need to go around all this to explain something simple: Rudeus doesn't give a shit if what he does is wrong or not, at least not at this point. I'm not making a moral judgment, a protagonist doesn't need to be a good guy, we're full of that.

The way I see it, he’s more a child than an adult at this point. His maturity is massively stunted compared to the span of his memories, and his brain chemistry is that of a 10yo. He’s basically just a creepy 10yo with 30 extra years of memories. Brain chemistry and circumstance contributes more than you would think.
piece of advice: stop treating Rudeus like a 40 year old that only looks like a 10 year old, and just think of him as a precocious kid with the intellect of a young teenager and the memories of a previous life. otherwise you are just gonna have the same endless discussion over and over again...

In season 2 its where rudeus learns how to be a better person and he goes through a whole arc learning more about himself and how to treat others.

Great points. It's really hard to like Rudeus as a character so my advise is to just pick other characters on the show to root for mine is a spoiler (blond frieren if she was a bitch). Each and everyone of them is fully developed character wise. Just to add, now that you finish turning point one the pervertness of Rudy will be lessen significantly(?) or atleast will be more tolerable? (Not really) But you'll learn to just don't entertain it since more important things are happening around him.

Rudeus IS a pdf, or at least, the person he was before reincarnation was. Thats incontrovertible (in the manga it’s even more explicit). The show is about him growing into a new person, so he’s a lot easier to like as he leaves behind his old life and feels like a new, distinct character. But trying to defend him is just… the wrong move.

That blood relation makes Rudeus very valuable in the aristocratic game. He's the firstborn son of the firstborn son of the previous Notos head, so he has very strong grounds to claim that lordship. The four great Greyrat houses are essentially dukes in the kingdom.

5:30 Sauros has been keen on being rid of Pilemon for well over a decade by that point. He sees him as a spineless brown-noser and would've rather seen Paul in charge of the Notos. Pilemon really is his least-favorite nephew.
10:15 Rudeus is ten. He simply has 34 years of extra memories and thought patterns along with those. If you count him as a 40-something, then every peer of his would be "too young."
And anyway, Paul had his first time on his 10th birthday as well with a noble lady five years his senior, which made her legally an adult in the setting's culture.
The rant/discussion is good to go through about his nature. But he really is living a new life rather than continuing his old one in a new setting and meatsuit. So the choice is to either try to act like an adult when one is clearly not and be considered a daydreaming kid, or try to suppress one's advancement to better integrate from square one. Rudeus has used his previous life's memories and thinking to his advantage, but there are some aspects of life he never developed in, romance being a big one. And if you want a 10yo boy to go after 40-something women, Pilemon's second son already had dibs on that task.

Rudy is straight up a PDF. he was in his old life and he still is in his new life. though to be more exact, he is basically non age discriminatory. to him ANY female (except old grandmas) are sexually appealing. Nonetheless he is a pdf. Also everyone else in that world is fucked up, Eris dad basically giving his underaged daughter to a little boy, more than once. sales guy selling magic pp potions to rudy (or trying to), Rudys dad telling him weird things too.
The author clearly has some issues and it really taints the story in my opinion. Without getting into any spoilers, while the PDF stuff will subside at some point, it gets replaced by other wish fulfillment stuff later which imo cheapens an otherwise good fantasy story

Rudy wasn't a pedo in his past life. There was no proof of that. Even the so-called evidence wasn't what people claimed it to be.

You claim that what the author put in their story ruins it is so stupid. It doesn't ruin anything when it's a part of the character's writing and setting of the story. Like, what are you on?
He is not a pedo, a pedo is attracted to prepubescent children, while Rudeus is attracted to adult women as well. He's just a child at this point, so he just has have more opportunities to interact with other children. it was never stated that Rudeus is particularly attracted to prepubescent girls.
