Yeah the eye is only for us viewers, no one has star eyes. Like Demon Slayer and the breathing techniques... there is no fire or water, the imagery is only for us viewers.
Yes, exactly what you said, this anime brings a whole new refreshing perspective on another level, and this should be obvious for someone that watches a lot of anime or is a fiction fan in general, even if you don't like it, because this is not like any of your typical anime out there, but at very least you can understand why this anime is very standout even among any other popular anime within typical genres like fantasy, action, comedy, or even romance, which is why this anime is not among that genre. The realistic aspect of this anime behind the scenes Showbiz or entertainment industry is what makes season 1 of this anime win Anime of the Year in Japan even though this anime is not part of that popular genre like I already mentioned above.
frrr. when this ep dropped, I was like "wtf Manaka-san (Akane's VA) is also acting so well as Takahashi-san". the 'sa' at the end of the sentence is literally the same I thought they got Takahashi-san to do this part lol. like I knew from her voice was different but still.
One hundred percent! First few times i watched the scene, had to rewatch instantly.. I would have bet actual money there was a VA switch, it was simply too perfect.. Thats was just Ai, back again! But it wasnt?!.. Flat what? Is Akane's VA a professional impersonator or something, that was pitch perfect in every way. Yeah, everything was the same. Inflection, tone and mannerism.. It was all Hoshino Ai Astounding!!! Was so great, i want more of it so much. Right now lol Gonna rewatch season 1 again!😆💯
i always like body switch in anime because these kinds of things happen but this scene from the music and animation and built up all for this very moment
A little bit of trivia, before Takahashi Rie got cast as Ai, she first auditioned for Akane. But with Manaka Iwami voicing Akane who was acting as Ai who was voiced by Rieri, we can say the whole has come full circle.
What Akane did is called “method acting”(usually done by theatre practitioners) which basically means is trying to “be the character”(not just a copy but thinking of yourself as actual person themselves) by researching and understanding everything about them thinking of being the same situations & experience the same motivations & emotions As 4 y she was terrible in the dating show, it’s because she’s only ever been a theatre person(aka always have scripts & character info to lean on but reality shows don’t have those)
This show became my favorite after watching the second season, the characters are handled so well. I love that the show feels more like a behind the scenes, every episode gets you thinking
Yes, Aqua has a manipulative side, but he doesn't do it for bad reasons. He's not trying to harm others; on the contrary, in many cases, he acts to help them! For example, he did this in episode 4 to ensure that Melt and Kana had a good performance in front of the camera!
he also used it to kinda force kana into the idol role but he is also convinced, that she can become great at it. and she is one of the few to entrust his sister with.
I will never get tired of that ending scene. This scene solidified for me too how awesome this show is. And thus, Akane became my favourite character in the show. She's smart, emotionally intelligent and as a character she has so much potential. And she continues to be MY GOAT.
@@Dustin_Frost it does, I think the second intro works even better as the lead up to the end of the episode (though as an actual song I definitely prefer Mephisto).
Akane is revealed to be the immersive type of actress who get into her roles, which may indicate that she specializes in method acting. Although others believe it may be Stanislavski method. When preparing for a role, Akane combines a bit of character analysis, psychology, and even profiling.

Westley Snipe, Jim Carry and Denzel Washington are great example of method acting... because they don't play the character, they become that character. Thing with Akane is that she needs a foundation to work, she can't create a character on the fly on her own. This is like rappers who can rap with a lyrics in hands but can't free style. Free style rapping is a different talent to come up with lyrics on the fly, that makes those good at rap battles far better imo.
Yuki is not a bad person; she just wants to make sure that her time in this reality show benefits her and helps advance her career, which, as she mentioned in episode 5, was stagnating! Despite this, she still took the time to help Akane get out of a bad situation!
💯 yes, she is the best version of that type of character. Which to be fair... Usually are bad people in fiction, but she isnt yeah! She is stellar and supportive, we like
I know the moment where Akane starts acting like Ai is a huge highlight of the episode but I think that the amount of emotion that Akane’s VA put into the scene of her crying at the beginning of the episode is super underrated. It legimitely sounds like someone crying in a very real and intense way.
This moment is equivalent to a hype battle shounen sakuga pop-off. Its well timed with and to the transition to the ED song. Memes were made to time epic moments with the ED song.
As a fun fact, Ai's seiyuu, Rie Takahashi, was a big fan of the manga, and she personally wanted to voice Akane, who she loved so much, she initially auditioned for only Akane's part. After some honest consideration of her own strengths, she also auditioned for Ai, coming to love her as well. Come this episode, Reiri tweeted afterwards that her heart was left racing, feeling deeply moved by Iwami's performance as Akane-channeling-Ai.
I love how they implemended the outro song with the final scene. It makes is so much more powerful in my opinion. There are not many shows that can do that in such a way.
That's my favorite moment of this episode! 14:30 Akane is so much into playing a character she becomes that character! She understands Ai way better than anyone else now! She's my best girl!💙 Great reaction!😃
Detective Akane the profiling master. In another life, she is working for FBI catching serial killers by getting into their head and figuring out how they would think.
I love the details on Ai's mannerisms once Akane copies them. Just how she pronounces Aqua as A-ku-a (like Ai did) instead of the regular A-kua says a lot.
Akane is a method actor she can turn it on and off at will. she studies her role intensely and becomes that character. so she basically is Ai right now and it triggers aqua hard core
I SO feel the same about what you said in regard to "why you like this show" and all that! Well, there's only 2 series for which I feel that way, Oshi No Ko and Kaguya-Sama, both by the same author! Every single episode of both series is 10/10 imho. Aka could make anything interesting&thrilling!
So there are multiple directors on reality shows, mostly anyone with a camera is actually a director, with the guy in charge of them is the showrunner. In case you didn’t know.
20:08 Yes, exactly. Akane's manager is a good person, but not a good manager. He put her in a position that was ill-suited for her talent, and did not know how to handle it. This was brought up in Japanese discussion a lot back when the manga was covering this part.
I get what you mean about Yuki but there's something about the show in general that always makes you think characters are about to do something sinister. Truth is they're all nice kids. Aqua has his own intentions but it never comes at the expense of someone else. Akane also has her moments where you think she's going nuts but she's always very reasonable and considerate of others. Yuki is just mischievous when it comes to cameras.
Yuki is a cunning girl, but she's not evil haha. I understand the suspicion though, most drama shows would just turn characters like Yuki into more unnecessary drama just for the sake of it.
The star in eyes are there when someone is lying or having a fake personality. The colour describes good or bad intentions. If its bright it means good intentions and dark means bad intentions.
Akane, being a theater artist first and foremost, uses the *Stanislavski method* , the “art of experiencing”, which consists of “embodying” the character body and soul, in order to act subconsciously as such, whether in the performance / filming or even outside of it in everyday life. This is done through an in-depth study of the character, in this case Ai. Looking for general information about the character, good and bad experiences that will be used as a trigger for personifying the character (trigger as we see Akane changing into Ai) There are some examples of people who have applied this technique in reality: Joaquin Phoenix, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, Marlon Brando and others. I don't think it's a very common technique these days because it's so extreme.
With reality shows, the character has to make their own character... the managers and producers aren't responsible for making character in a "reality" show. It maybe fake but the cast has to make their own persona... this is where Akane fails in... her own personality is boring on television, and she is incapable of making her own character as she needs a direction to follow. That's why Aqua's suggestion worked as now she has a character to build upon.
I'm a Kana man myself but damn it's close and it's hard not to pick Akane. Actually Mem is my favorite character but in terms of Aqua romancing I think he gravitates towards Kana because she reminds him of the last time he was happy.
Akane has no combat experience and no money for gadjets, so..... it's batman. if it is only about something of finding out "who did the crime?" or "where will the culprit strike next?" then akane has a good shot at winning
I have a personal rant about the "frontal Lobe" excuse... development of frontal lobe ≠ better decision making. Just because someone is an adult older than 24 doesn't mean they have the mental capacity to have smarter decisions. We seen too many grown folks who act worst than kids and on the flipsidez there are kids and teens who makes better decisions than adults over 24. It's a failed argument especially the fact humans have different personalities and experiences which shape our decision making. People have fully developed frontal lobe but their upbringing, accountability, ability to change, learn, etc affects decision making... not their frontal lobe.
Another comment section, another time to say: while it is real, you should never actually slap someone who tried to end themselves. That's a BIG no-no.
