    Austin Palmerton WAS making 600wheel.
    Then a rod decided it was time to say ight imma head out….
    It lasted 11,000 hard miles. He literally windowed the block last week. He’s now going K-Swap.

    Excited to see the kit put on the car, interested on the 660. Been thinking of their 550 for a quick spool but keeping the boost low and constant throughout the rev range. Don’t really like the torque graph I’m seeing some people make with harrop for example, I want a torque graph that’s as straight as possible

    • @phelpsgarage4202
      @phelpsgarage4202  Місяць тому +2

      Yeah, I just don’t wanna make that torque way down low because that’s when stuff will break. It makes the car feel fast, but the car doesn’t like it, especially on a stock motor high compression.

      @phelpsgarage4202 yeah it makes sense that a bigger turbo is actually better though since the delayed spool and stuff. One of the VW guys I follow made 600WHP on a stock 1.8T and never had any issues with the rods because it was "so lazy." Makes sense that you could find a balance in between.

      @@MeltingRubberZ28 yeah it’s a cylinder pressure down low that will hurt things. It’s OK to make the power up top.

    Hey I love you vids, I'm so excited to see the turbo get put on. I've personally been eyeing the JDL one for a while now (mainly for the catted uel turbo manifold and I have a single exit cat back from them). I'm kind of copying your build with my 23 brz. Right now I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some FA 510 or 520CR haven't decided yet. I've been in contact with Fortune Auto and they recommended me similar spec to what you have. 8-9k front and 9-10 k rear with longer stokes and a helper spring. After seeing your other video where you talked about how a sway bar up front made you car to stiff I was wondering your opinion with you current 8k front and 9k rear spring rate and if you would recommend it or change it based on your extensive track day testing. Do you ever think its too stiff at all? I will be basically have the same aero as you, but that's down the road. Again love the vids, big supporter of the monster your making!!

    • @phelpsgarage4202
      @phelpsgarage4202  17 днів тому

      I appreciate the kind words and you taking your time watching the videos. I will say this the car is faster when it’s softer… more grip, but there’s a trade-off with aero you need the stiffer springs to take the extra down load. This helps at speed but at slow speed, it hurts. It’s one of those pick your poison type of deals. I sacrifice the low-end grip/speed for all the high-end stuff. I plan for go with even more aero so I can be faster in the corners! I recommend the white line swaybar kit, which I believe was 20mm in the front and 18mm in the rear to me that felt really balanced and neutral. Hope this helps

      There will come a point to where I can’t push the car any further with 400ish horsepower. Eventually, I will change platforms once my ability to drive a fast car at the limit.
