It's sad the front office decided to waste money on aging veterans instead build a team for Romo. Complete bs Dak stayed as a starter when Romo was ready in 16. He gave his body for that team, they should have honored that. Also he was still the better qb at the time

I usually don't get emotional about players, but when Romo was screwed out of the 2015 div round against greenbay, I cried like a baby.
I didn't say a word the rest of the day. I knew at that point that Romo's days were definitely numbered. I think his numbers aren't going to be matched anytime soon.
A lot of "out of towners" have no idea what this qb did for Dallas. Hell, a lot of "So Called" idiotic "wanna be" cowboys "ban waggoner" fans have no idea what this man meant for this team. Call me crazy, But even though Aikman has 3 rings, in my book, Romo was the better man... and the numbers back it up.
Besides, Romo was a better person, after a football game, late at night, he actually stopped and helped a stranded driver change a flat tire on the freeway. Now, how many nfl star players in history would actually stop to help a stranger on the highway..... but that's the type of kick ass person Romo was.

The first time I seen Romo in a game was in 04 pre-season game in Oakland. He drove the team down field to the 1 yard line, it's 1st and goal and I'm yelling at the TV to run a QB sneak! That's exactly what Romo did. He showed his knowledge and toughness in that drive.great upload!

What drives me nuts is just how good he was... EVERY game I watched I was sitting on edge with excitement! The way he drove the offense down the field... he was a general! Scrambled threw ran threw dropped back threw... AMAZING ❤️
Now... being the Dallas Cowboys QB he was AMERICAS WHIPPING BOY!
I never understood this his completion percent touchdown to interception percent was of greatness! Dallas lacked a team till the latest stage of his career. People forget before that he drove his team down the field to get into position to win the game. The miscue was Parcell's fault. When Romo took over the starting QB position, someone else should have taken over the placeholder job. And even so, he STILL almost scored the win, coming up a yard short.

The biggest mistake Laurent Robinson made was he finally made an outstanding connection with a very good QB; He had one great year and then took the first big contract that cane along......and disappeared. He should have stayed and who knows? He might have ended up being Tony's Go-To WR, developed his game more and ended up a Dallas legend. Instead he took the immediate gratification and ended his career. Sometimes taking less & staying put with a QB who's got a connection with you is worth it.
If you make it big in Dallas (and Texas, since that it's State) then you're gonna get all kinds of marketing deals and you could easily build a 2nd career there. I don't know why every player doesn't want to play here.

Crayton dropped 2 open passes (one a td), then for a game winner Crayton wide open got confused and stuttered for no reason, and the ball just went over his head. Then TO dropping a 50 yarder through his arms in the second half. Then Witten dropping a wide open important first down on third down. I went to my first Cowboys game during the preseason of 2004. I saw a young 4th string QB come into the game and I thought he was wearing #8 from my nosebleed seat. I immediately wanted him booted from the team for daring to wear Troy Aikman's #. Then the fan sitting behind me heard me fussing to my friends about the perceived injustice when he stated that's not #8, that's #9. After that #9 led 3 straight scoring drives while making some very impressive throws. At the end of the game I toasted with that fan and said, to the future starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys...#9.

Romo is second to me because he could make every throw in the book and could make somethin out of nuthin. Also he's over Troy because of pure stats, Troy had the Great Wall of Dallas from 1991 - 99. That would’ve just been unfair to the rest of the league. Tony was always asked to do more with less, and against all odds, he found a way to do it.

If you just read headlines, you would think that Romo is a choker.
Nothing is further from the truth.
But, one important note first. Romo's career as a QB seems to be defined by the haters from a play when he was not a QB, which makes no sense.
Yes, there are games that the Cowboys lost directly because of him, but not nearly as many as most people think.
A good example are 7 games in which he had 17 TDs, 4 ints, 104 passer rating, and led the Cowboys to an average of 28 points. Why these 7 games? They were all losses in 2013. They were losses because the defense allowed an average of 37 points/game and an opposing passer rating of 117.
How bad was it? The average QB had a passer rating 25 points higher against the Cowboys than the rest of their schedule. The defense allowed 4 of those 7 QBs to have 4 TDs. 3 QBs had 400 yards and a 4th had 392. This was the year Megatron had 329 in a single game. The defense didn't force a single punt against the Broncos and Bears.
Despite that horrible defense, Romo still almost won 5/7 games. But, all fingers pointed to him as the problem.
Meanwhile Eli Manning is carried through 2 playoffs by a defense that only allowed 15.1 points/game, none over 20 points, and an opposing passer rating of 74. Eli still barely manages to win 5/8 games. 2 of those 5 wins went to overtime in which Eli was a complete non factor in the game winning drives that he received credit for. For those 7 combined plays, he was 0/1, 0 yards and was given "game winning drives". In spite of it all, Eli is called a playoff genius.
Neither headline is remotely accurate. And this is typical of Romo's career. There were a lot of games in which the Cowboys were set up to win when someone else screwed up badly, even the 2006 playoffs in Seattle, but when Romo couldn't overcome the mistake, he was blamed.
During Romo's time no one had more game winning drives or 1,000 yards receivers. He was injured quite a bit, but it brings something else to light. When Romo played, The Cowboys won 61.4% of his games. When he was out through 2015, that same team only won 30%. Even when they brought in Matt Cassel, who took the 2008 Brady-less Patriots to 11-5, he could only go 1-6. In 2015, Romo only played 4 games and accounted for 75% of the wins that year.
Romo only had 8 full seasons. In those years, he was 8/8 top 10 passer rating. Had a league leading 113 passer rating in 2014 and was an MVP candidate, but lost out to Rogers who only threw 4 interceptions all year. Once had 35 TDs in a season, but came in second to Brady who had 50.
And many RBs and receivers has some of their best years with Romo. But, when they went to another team or Dak, their numbers took a hit.

Yeah crazy how things can go when you spend all but 1 year with a trash oline, and all but 2 year's with a top 15 run game. And all but 2-3 years with a none trash defense. Romo went 2 playoffs in a row tying the 4 most sacked in nfl history playoffs games. Despite breaking tons of tackles to prevent alot more sacks. The fact that he never had a losing record in a season is astounding.

I wouldn’t say he always chocked when it counted but I don’t get why Cowboy fans were so in love with him.........You really can’t even be considered a good QB if you have a grand total of two playoff wins your entire career.....Plus you have so many fans saying he carried the Cowboys for so many years........These highlights pretty much dispels that theory........He played with T.O., Witten and a host of all offensive players at their peak including Dez Bryant.......Even with the suspect defensive play at times, Romo should have at least gotten to an NFC Championship game.

    • @DM-xt3rl
      @DM-xt3rl 3 роки тому +1

@@TheMrMurf 😂😂😂.......Yeah going on a cruise with Witten and then girlfriend Jessica Simpson was a big mistake on Romo’s part........That 2007 team had a lot of talent on both sides of the ball.........The Cowboys took the Giants for granted in that divisional game. In fact they just knew that they were on a collision course with the Patriots in the Super Bowl that year. It may very well have been a shoot out but the Patriots complete the perfect season if they had played the Cowboys.........That said I don’t think you can blame Romo for the 2014 playoff game. Murray fumbling when they were driving to basically put the game away was the dagger. The Dez Bryant “catch” would not have mattered.........So I agree with the chocking label of Romo to a point.

I can't believe people are blaming anyone besides patrick crayton on that loss. Yall don't even remember the number of dropped passes in that game. And how patrick crayton slowed his route on 3rd down which would've won them the game had he kept running his route. The only real fuckups by romo were the hold and his interception vs the redskins back in 2012. Romo grew into a great player but by the time he reached his prime his body couldn't take it anymore from the constant beating over the years behind a shit offensive line throughout 2011-2013.
