N95 was amazing all in one device for its time. Amazing keypad phone, camera, music and video player, GPS, PDA and gaming beast supporting Ngage, J2ME, Symbian apps & games and emulators for GBs, GBA, NES, SNES, Gamegear etc.
We went from crude but appealing 3D games and Doom ports to full on PS2 emulation in our pockets. The smartphone still amazes me even after all this time. I love watching videos like this to see the progression.
I remember BACK IN THE DAYS to hack your Symbian you had to go to special site and punch in your phone's ID or something and then the site would generate you the hacked certificate but not right away - in a day or something...but it was free. I had one of the best Symbian phones: Nokia E75. Why the best? - I had a full keyboard and I could map any emulator keys to WADS and IJLK keys (or any other) and it was a BOMB! being able to play my favorite Sega, nes, GBA games on it while commuting to and from college. Fun times. Also, I think you can do N-game (1) games on 'newer' versions. There should be a manual somewhere. Also, you didn't show Tomb Raider Legends!!! It was awesome 3D game
I have the N95 8GB and also played those games, hacked n-gage ones, quake 2.... But I absolutely loved the original N-gage when it came out, I remember playing with friends kinda wireless LAN, was pretty cool.
Is still have my Nokia N95 since 2008. I hacked it back then and once in a while I plug it to charge the battery and play some of the games for a little bit. I really loved it then and I'm still loving it now, since I'm a big fan of MGS Saga and the Nokia NGage Game was pretty cool for that time.
I am a 2000 baby. And i remember asking my dad what is the best phone that exists and he would tell me its n95 and it would blow my mind. I asked him to show it to me but he could not afford one and he did not know if any of his friends had one at the time. And randomly i saw one out of nowhere and i remeber it blowing my mind. Not because it was great but because i saw the "best phone out there". Crazy
Those old nokia phones were so cool. I had the nokia XpressMusic and used to play a lot of games on it. Asphalt, diamond rush and counterstrike(yes, there was a counterstrike or at least counterstrike-like game on those phones, if im not mistaken you can even play on multilayer) were my top 3.
I will forever miss this era of electronics. Phones did their own thing, consoles did their own thing, PCs did their own thing, and all the various brands each did their own thing. Now everything just looks and feels the same. What phones are we getting next year? Some slightly faster black rectangles... yay!
You can clean the plastic stickiness up by using a mix if water and baking soda. Ideally around 50/50 mix and a toothpaste like texture. Itll come out like new.
Dude, I remember playing this on my old phone. There's another horror 3rd game that was like RE and Silent Hill type gameplay but incomplete as well as a game portal with online multiplayer game like tank, etc.
I had the N95 -1 the one with less memory and smaller screen. I finished Metroid Fusion and Zelda a Link to the Past on it, still remember the cramps! At the time I don't think there was an efficient port of Quake and Doom on it... It was an incredible smartphone for the era. Android was at the beginning and can't do much yet and Iphone just had the pint of beer simulator and the fart machine....
My favorite Nokia phone was the n900. That thing did EVERYTHING. Lol, it could run anything including Android and webOS apps. I think it could also run iPhone apps as well.
that brothers in arms game reminds me a lot of the brothers in arms that was launched for the nintendo ds, but i am actually surprised it runs metal gear solid
With a proper bluetooth gamepad those games could be very enjoyable, I remember I had a "fake controller" for my N900 which was simply clipped on top of the keyboard and it actually worked really well.
I've been using Java emulator for quite sometime since my Winnie the Pooh BlackbBerry is long gone. Really want to relive the experience not gonna lie.
I had N95 and N900!!! Loved those phones! Also worth mentioning are FM Transmitter and aircrack-ng compatibility of N900! But yeah, N-GAGE games for N95 were amazing! Also you could play most of those NGAGE games in ladscape mode while controling a game with media buttons and dpad. BTW this Resident Evil game was based on the animated movie of the same name.
It is the best phone I ever owned or used to play quake a lot😂 also it took amazing pictures and videos so yes I am a big fan I still have my old one in the drawer

Also does anyone remember BinPDA 😂
How did you guys hold these phones to play games? I used left thumb on the movement pad as you would a dpad and right thumb in the centre of the numbers to easily access all the buttons. How Chuck is holding it looks like it would give severe control issues!
