@@xIcarus227 unfortunately in Italy we have to pay an overtax for those 3 cars 😭😭
@@superbollo2050 how much do they cost, out of curiosity? And do you know why they're overtaxing them?
@@xIcarus227 In Italy every year we have to pay 20€ for each kilowatt for cars with a power above 184 kilowatt. This tax is reduced by 40% after 5 years of car's production date, 70% after 10 years, 85% after 15 years; then after 20 years you stop to pay it; (obviously electric cars don't have to pay this tax). For example a ferrari 812 superfast cost 8.646,95€. Italian government implement this tax to reduce polluting cars.

This entire review looked halfhearted. Matt looks ill or bored or both
Matt not doing his home work here.
You can set any color you want so sport to red, normal to blue eco to green and individual to purple etc.
The touch buttons (on the steering wheel) are a dealbraker for me
You need to go through like 2 menus in the infotainment to get to HVAC controls, too. What were they thinking?

Is there going to be a drag race with all the GTi’s that have even been made?
That would include the TCR! YES
Won't get many views. Its a boring car meant for grandfather's. Such a dull looking car. No imagination in the design whatsoever. Sad car.
I just took delivery of the Mk 8 GTI, absolutely brilliant car. I had the MK 7.5, but I must say this is the best GTI ever. Some people that leave comments on here don’t even own the MK 8. I have no issues with the infotainment system. Got used to it in seconds. The moment you sit in it and drive it you won’t want to go back to the old one. And please matt do your research properly before complaining that you can’t change the background light. Just swipe down on the infotainment system and tap on background, and you have an array of colours to choose from. I’m loving the car everyday. No regrets at all.
Absolutely. Even the ECS can be turned off by sliding down on the main screen and all recently used option shortcuts are available. The car runs really nice.
Garbage, gives us physical buttons, replace the glossy black plastic, and fix the front end.
The screen bezels look like those of LCD screens from 2000. THICC and Glossy.
and ugly as hell... im glad the i30N keeps the analog gages looks so much better instead of trying to make a digital one with cutting costs
That hole under the rear spoiler is for the optional retractable trailer hitch. It’s quite a clever idea to be able to hide it when you don’t need it. The 7.5 GTI has the same ... or the normal golf ....
That interior looks like a step backwards in terms of quality to me 🤔
Golf Mk8 : touch sensitive buttons

My MK7.5 Performance Pack DSG regularly gets 5.6 seconds to 60mph using the same data logger.
It's sad that they ditched the golf ball gear lever for the manual.
It’s half golf ball
They should have a blancmange as a gear lever for this one.
Mark 7.5 face-lift is the best looking modern Gti
Mats new intro with the "How are you" gets me... Haven't heard anyone say that in...
I like this review, because it confirms for me that I should have no regret going for Mk 7.5.
Would much rather have a GR Yaris over this.
Crazy to think it's not even much more expensive

My budget didn't allow for this car, so I got the Elantra GT N-Line. Solid car. Glad I got the last one in the white in the state since they discontinued it for 2021. Might trade up in a year or two. Not that I NEED the extra capabilities, but driving is the favorite part of my day.
Diesel-gate must have really cost VW; ever since their quality has gone downhill.
Doesn't even have bonnet gas struts like older Golf's.

My old Mk 7 and now 7.5 look INCREDIBLY good to me right about now!
I think I'll just be content with what I have at this particular moment!
Not sure about that, I have a 7.5 now but after seeing the 8 at the dealership mine looks like me, starting to look old.
@@toddstevens8506 No, I hear you! And after all, what counts at the end of the day is what customers like you think, and whether we're willing to fork out VW's [in my opinion] exorbitant prices for a 4-cylinder vehicle that seems to have taken a turn toward a bit of gimmickry and one heck of a lot of plastic! Oh and, absolutely no buttons!😛
Since I responded on this thread, some items on the Mk8 have admittedly grown on me... there was absolutely nothing I liked about it when first seeing it.
As far as Mk7/Mk7.5s looking "old" and/or dated, to me I still get a thrill seeing them. I just don't know if I'd be willing to fork out VW's prices for the new models... especially since I have become spoiled by the Autobahn and swore to myself I would never purchase another GTI unless it was in fact an Autobahn or an R.
All of that aside for now, I'm glad you really like them... I understand completely. I, am trying to like them!
Maybe I need to see more up close and in person. Most Mk8s I've seen have been a lot of images around the web and on UA-cam, of course.

05:50 noise regulations have nothing to do with it, it’s the gas particulate filter that dampens the noise, and the little 4cyl isn’t big enough to make up for it.
