Great guide! As someone who has finished in the top 100 in the first two leagues, my biggest recommendation is to pace yourself. Don’t worry too much about early game strategies and points, even if you fall behind at first. Leagues is a marathon, not a sprint.

I like your League videos 😉
I've read all the other comments these are the only other things I picked up on:
    - Don't complete Rune Mysteries in Misthalin if planning to take Kandarin, Desert, Morytania or Wilderness as your first area unlock because Rune Mysteries gets autocompleted with these.
    - I'd personally wait until getting 8x xp after unlocking the 2nd area instead of the base 5x xp before completing Vampyre Slayer
    - Sell nature runes to the general store 1 at time for 72gp each (shops reset the stock after an entire transaction, instead of for each quantity sold) or if you want the Magic xp low alch volcanic ash for 80gp each. Selling Volcanic Ash to the Shilo Village General store for 100gp each (1 at a time) will be the best money maker in Misthalin early.
    - For regions not to take first Tirannwn is hands down the worst, you can get soft-locked doing that (for example killing a Waterfiend is an Easy task, pretty impossible at low combat)

I disagree, theorycrafting is integral to the leagues gamemode, and with this league being significantly shorter than one’s previous, having a good plan to make the most of your time is very important.

A big tip for people who may just be getting in to their first leagues game... this is a limited time game mode, dont waste too much time chasing rare drops. Thats almost always just wasted time. I mean if you love the content or something, sure, go ham. But if you are aiming for Rune or Dragon, generally speaking I have always found it better to just use more reliable drops to get 'good enough' gear and rely on the bonkers league relics to make content trivial. If the drops happen to come up while doing content for points, awesome! But grinding Corrupted Gauntlet for a week to get Bowfa when you already finished all of the Gauntlet tasks isnt worth the time when you could just use a crystal bow, or maybe switch to Zulra to hope for a blowpipe. There are almost certainly going to be plenty of tasks that dont need you to have BiS gear to hit any reasonable goals you could set that you just dont need to risk going dry on something that ultimately isnt going to be worth that many points. Dont lock yourself in to a rigid plan, adapt to what the game gives you and just seek out tasks that make sense based on what you have available.

Advice from an experienced leagues player: Take time deciding on the relics you choose based on the way you like to play the game. Especially think of things long term (8 weeks) if you're planning to play the whole leagues. Adapt your gameplay based on the relics you have chosen. Most of the relics are normally revealed on day one and will create brand new metas for the game since they are very powerful. And of course, most importantly, have fun!

Low level slayer options, grey chins, fishing, sand crabs, temple spiders, xerics talisman which is imo one of the best teleports in the game (even without xerics honour bank tele), cooking and farming guild, wintertotd (shudder), access to that weird ranging pot beer.. huge list of early game content that can hopefully get you out of the not knowing what to do loop

First I wanna say I'm not a hate watcher lmao. I watched the video through and liked it. was good. Just gotta say that
I think the people who get the dragon tier, or w/e the highest tier is, are people who just play a shit ton. These highly sweaty optimized task plans and whatnot play for a very miniscule portion of the overall playerbase who both pump in crazy hours and want to be top of the ranking list.
Like you said that people can go do forrestry with the bois - doing whatever you feel is fun should be the main focus of leagues. I think this is also why Jagex wants to keep the tasks hidden a bit so it doesn't become crazy competitive race when it's not really supposed to be one. Nothing wrong to make it into competition if that's fun for folks but I know for a fact I'm just gonna do a lot of jank shit. I'll maybe pick morytania to learn nightmare because that's one piece of content I haven't really touched yet but other than that I'll prob just go in blind and not care too much if I have to go back to lumby 5 times to do stuff like rune mysteries or restless ghost.

  • @Zycko_
    @Zycko_ 8 місяців тому

Planing is great, but until we know relics and tasks it should be very minimal, My go to strategy will be to run straight to draynor roof tops and do agility while reading tasks and relics if we don't get them before release.
If they're not giving last recall as a passive (idk if they have confirmed anything here) they have to make some thing seriously busted to compete with it which could alter any pre-made plans.
If the task of 30 agility laps of draynor is still there its a great place to start while going over which of your strategies to run, while also looking for some fast hard+ tasks for fast points and unlocking next tier asap.
If we get the task list and relics before the release then this obviously won't apply.

I’m gonna do Desert, Zeah, Asgarnia pretty sure. Desert has a few more low level training methods I feel, like tempoross, thieving, agility, mta, crafting.

    • @mrmnm4261
      @mrmnm4261 8 місяців тому +1

So, this is just my two cents, but I feel like one of the best things Leagues offer is a learning opportunity. Your power level is so much higher, it allows you to do/get used to content you might not normally be able to. You've already (broadly) identified two pieces of content you'd really like to do/learn: Corrupted Gauntlet and (I assume) the Wildy bosses. That's two regions locked in, and for your third, you have to decide what you want: a region to support the other two or a third region with content (probably a boss/raid) you'd really like to do/learn (most regions will likely have a bit of both).
Looking more specifically at the pieces of content you've chosen, you probably don't need to worry about supporting chunks all that much: CG has no gear reqs at all, and the Wildy bosses are best taken on with the Rev weapons (which will probably be fairly easy to get if you choose your own Slayer tasks, assuming the worlds aren't too full). I would just take a third piece of content you'd like to do most, and go for that region, don't think too much about what's optimal. Unless you want to push for Rune or Dragon Cup (especially the latter), efficiency isn't that important, it's really more of a sandbox. Do note that the order of region unlocks might matter, some have easier point/task gain early on than others.

@@mrmnm4261 yeah, i know, it's jsut that i have the fear of missing out, because there is so much i wish to try but at the same time i won't be able to choose much, i never did a raid so to try one would be nice, but in fact i'm terrible vs bosses (my reflexes are terrible, that's why i never did something like the gauntlet or zulrah) so i'm not sure i would even be able to do them, i might do kourend, priff and wilderness tho, but like i said i'm lost, i never played as an iron man so i'm not sure how to so things, still, thanks for the info tho.

    • @Chealder
      @Chealder 8 місяців тому

I recently learnt CG and it's more like learning a rhythm. Once you get it I doubt you need a lot of reflexes. So far all bosses in osrs work on a predictable cycle of attacks. I think choosing content you wanna learn is a good way to approach leagues if you just want casual play and work your plan/combat style around it. I got my first ever fire cape in leagues 2, then got it soon after in the main game. I'm thinking of learning raids 1 in leagues, so I'm going kourend with asgarnia and priff for a ranged set up.

For the adapted strat you begin almost with catch sardine, how?
You're assuming adventurer jonny boy will be there to give you a rod and bait then right?
As for the money making, unlocking your first region will probably happen very fast, and if its any region with a gem trader you can make infinite money.
You can buy unlimited uncut sapphires/emeralds (depends on region, asgarnia has falador with sapphires only) and then cut them and sell right back to the gem trader.

Hey Scritic, I want to preface this and say that I am not trying to get you down. This vid is really well made and will help a lot of brand new Leagues players.
But, coming from an experienced one, and a sweat/tryhard with multiple Dragon cups - You aren't quite thinking in the proper league/ironman mindset yet. It's very good to see that you're talking about your previous mistakes like not knowing how Death to the Dorgeshuun is actually locked behind Asgarnia due to Goblin Diplomacy, so I'm hopeful you'll keep improving as we get into the League proper!
Another error you made in this video is that you suggest going straight into the Lumbridge swamp and fishing up a Sardine after Misthalin Mystery - but you show a small fishing net animation. Sardines are a rod-based fishing resource that are the "Bait" secondary option on Shrimp/Anchovy "Small Net" spots. You need a fishing rod and bait, which in early Trailblazer will come from the Shilo Village fishing store. Unlocked by default to everyone - but you do have to go there to buy it first. This unfortunately makes the Gertrude's Cat segments in the guide part of the video fall apart. However, not all is lost! You will be able to teleport to Brimhaven through the League Region menu, which is a short cart ride away from Shilo.
The next piece I noticed, which is NOT AN ERROR (more an optimization) is that you tell the viewer to run from the Wizard's Tower to the Stronghold of Security. Instead, you can tell them to Home Teleport here - a task, most likely, that brings them directly to Count Check in the Lumbridge Graveyard. This NPC teleports you once per account FOR FREE to the Stronghold of Security, cutting out a very long walk!
Moving from the guide portion, you actually make what I consider a beginner's trap. You class Asgarnia as "Lower Difficulty". In reality, Asgarnia is actually one of the highest difficulty regions for tasks. Unless they've massively redesigned the list for this rerun, you do NOT want to go to Asgarnia first. Why? In Asgarnia you have high level Slayer like Skeletal Wyverns and Cerberus, high level Bossing like GWD, and high level skilling in Graceful and the Rogue's Den, just to name a few activities. If you think about it... What low level content actually is there? Port Sarim? Rimmington? Camdozaal? Goblin Village? In the first Trailblazer, there were EASY TASKS in Asgarnia to "Kill a Black Demon" and "Kill a Blue Dragon". Safespottable, sure, but definitely not monsters I think you'd classify as "Low Difficulty". Asgarnia messed up a lot of players in the original Trailblazer, so it's worth considering that for the rerun.
All that being said, I want to reiterate that I loved the video. The style and the presentation is great. I believe you also have been helping to plug other people's guides and work, like my friend Shaan's newly updated unlock chart, so keep on being awesome, Scritic. Above all, the majority of players are not me. Y'all aren't here to optimize this game mode to death, and I also absolutely love the community that surrounds these time-limited adventures. See you November 15th :D

Thanks my man. Some good points! We all love to speculate, there's just so much uncertainty given we only have historic information to go off - keeping it general for now but definitely intend to be more prescriptive closer to release.

u could turn in restless ghost / cook assist / sheep shear THEN use the free teleport to varrock. to do gertrude rune mystery and maybe get started on shield of arrav.
im betting quite a few would start arrav asap. before people drop it.

The farmers mentioned in one of the videos that Stores will now permanently lock their stock, so you can buy 50 even if they have 1, and sold items will instantly vanish. I am told this means the gem stall in Al Kharid is going to be an insane crafting and money maker, as you can buy inventories of uncuts, cut them, and sell them for profit back to the stall. This is definitely going to be a major feature (we already had something similar to this in the previous one except it was only every time any player opened the interface so it was vastly slower even if you had a 2nd person/alt spam opening the store for you)

Oh absolutely, it's a no brainer once you unlock a region beyond Misthalin and Karamja although Money becomes a nonissue past that point anyway so pick the region you enjoy most!

It would be surprising if we didn't get Lumbridge as the starting region that you spawn in 😶

    Thank you, peasant!
I like your videos and they excite me (not sexually) about leagues.
My favourite part was when you read out the Jagex newspost in that troll voice lmao 😂
Can I just ask, do you know what areas well be needed for guardians of the rift, or do we not know this yet?
    Many thanks.

Great video but Desert is easily the best first unlock, I would strongly suggest avoiding picking Asg or Kourend first unless things drastically change from the last leagues, and I would avoid Kandarin entirely unless you want to do a mage build (and you have to choose a style to specialize in).
Asgarnia had most of the points locked behind high level combat, bossing, high level slayer, and high level mining. You should basically choose Asg when you're ready to start melee/slayer since it gives you void, defenders, dbaxe, dmace, and lets you start chasing the very important GWD drops. I believe I chose this first in 2 and was stuck doing a ton of mining, and inefficient combat in order to start doing higher tasks.
Kourend could be fun, but a lot of it requires decent gear and offers no good midgame unlocks. Basically only choose this first if you want to do the library for mage/rc, use the farming/wc guild, spam wintetodt, or jump straight into slayer with Konar (but you really should have something more than a d long to start slayer). Its important to note Konar will only assign tasks on what you have unlocked so you might want to delay unlocking regions with annoying alternatives. Like if you want to spam dust devils or nechs, avoid unlocking the mory or desert and only get them assigned on kourend.

Kandarin hate thread (unless things change drastically, avoid unless you really want tormented/occult for max mage):
Literally no fun content imo. I like ZMI but its irrelevant in leagues. All the 'bosses' are afk. Horrible content like monkey agility, chompy, and fishing trawler.
No BiS training methods or even training methods that offer multiple skills/tasks (like pyramid plunder, aerial fishing, tempoross, WT, MTA, SW, PC).
Only BIS is Zenytes/Occult. 7% str and 5% att on a prayer is not worth choosing a region for. The Dcim has plenty of peers or near equivalents and a t60 weapon is not a good reason to choose a region.
It offers nothing for range. For melee, void+defenders+dmace/baxe are way better than a dcim.
For magic, the new staff+mystics is way overshadowed by infinity+tome+wand+ancients.

really its just the piety region, its only worth it if you're going for absolute maxed melee but by no means required, 0 fun content makes it an L region

    • @kenshin1368

@@Slabfish imo it's really the occult/tormented region since 15% magic damage is absurd. But it's not even good early game.
