    You DO NOT have to go through all that work to reach those bulbs. They are easily accessible from above. If you are just changing the bulbs that is.

      I was just thinking the same thing. I replaced the high and low beams with LEDs, didn't have to remove anything. I also replaced the fog lights with Cali Raised LED cubes and the metal harness as well. Didn't have to remove anything. No problems reaching bolts and tightening screws with a socket either. Lol.

      Yeah. I reached inside of mine to install the TRD pro fogs. Was the one if the most simple things I’ve ever done. This way makes it look so damn hard.

    That's pretty cool, but I just bought 55w H11 Yellow bulbs, and got the same effect. Didn't have to remove anything but the old bulbs. Besides that the yellow/Amber lights make a HELL of a difference in snow and fog.

      What bulbs did you buy? I sorta' like the bulb idea instead of the film. That way they wouldn't really appear yellow/amber until theyr'e turned on. Stealth lights.

    I replaced the OSRAM H16 19 watt OE bulbs in my 2019 SR5 with Nokya NOK 7618 Hyper Yellow H11 55 watt bulbs. They're about twice as bright as the OE lights. No, they are not AMBER. More like a pale yellow. I wanted them for function more than looks. Cost was less than $20 for the pair. Plug and play install took about 5 minutes.

    You know that you can change the bulb and apply lamin-x without removing the fog lamp assembly! just remove the outer plastic cover of the fog, and for the bulb you can access from the hood. Search for « LAMIN-X fog light yellow film mod » on tacomaworld, you’ll see what i mean

    I like the idea of using Laminex to change the lens to Amber, but would just as soon keep the OE bulbs. I assume that would be OK. Have you tried that?

    • @Runnin4Tacos
      @Runnin4Tacos  5 років тому

      Scrappy Cat yeah that works too! Looks even more amber which we like

    • @ArbitraryLifestyle
      @ArbitraryLifestyle 5 років тому

      The downside to this is that Laminex reduces the light output around 48%, so keeping the OE bulbs would produce much less light, although the light color (around 2,700 Kelvin) is much better suited for fog/snow. On the other hand if you put LED bulbs in there you should note that your OE cut-off line is now gone and you'll be blinding oncoming traffic. The LED bulbs also tend to have a blue'ish tint (6,000 Kelvin and above) and that alters the color of the light emitted. If you could find an LED bulb around 4,500-5,000 Kelvin that would be ideal, but you'll still have the issue of no cut-off line with your beam pattern.

    Is there an advantage with the amber color rather than the yellow? I’ve been looking at the yellow Baja design fog light kit but not sure what option would be best

    • @Natschke_Family_Adventures
      @Natschke_Family_Adventures 5 років тому +1

      Better for fog and snow conditions. White light magnifies fog, or snow the yellow cuts through it.

  • @dlg5485

    What are the part numbers for the Laminex overlays?

  • @ArbitraryLifestyle
    @ArbitraryLifestyle 5 років тому +1

    Love the look, but now you have a fog light with no cut-off line. No one makes and LED bulb that retains the cut-off line designed into a reflector housing. If you're going for just looks these are fine, until you're running them at night time and pissing off oncoming drivers. I would LOVE to see what your fog light beam pattern looks like being 20 feet away from a wall now.

      @@Runny12456 The entire reason LED bulbs are popular for home/car/marine/work applications is because they drawn MUCH LESS power than halogen. Where in the world did you read that LEDs require more power? If you're saying the LEDs run hotter, have you never touched an LED bulb? They remain cool/cold.
