Dr Campbell is a nurse with a PhD. He has been posting educational videos long before Covid-19. He has 30+ years experience as a nurse and many years teaching at university level classes. He has never passed himself off as an MD.
With his many years of experience, Dr Campbell knows how to read and explain a research paper to his audience. He knows how to interpret data and break it down so us non-medical people can understand it. He also explains how the human body works in regard to infections and fighting disease.

Personally, I don't think what Dr John Campbell does is different from what you do at all. He interviews lots of doctors and medical experts from all around the world, as well as reads the latest medical research in order to get the most up-to-date information. He was incredibly up-to-date with information regarding the variants as they came out. He is also a nurse with a PhD, which is a hell of a lot more qualified than "just a nurse", so I think it is incredibly unfair to characterize him as such.

@@stevemcgowen No, he's swung around depending on what data was available. Same happened on the left side on HCQ back in the day and how insanely dangerous it was. That was also based on completely fraudulent study (Surgisphere debacle). Also you're completely lying; he never promoted horse dewormer, quite the opposite - warning against using medications prepped for animals. Ivermectin has been studied for *MANY* viruses based on its properties.
Also, it's the job of the doctor to decide prescriptions. Going off label "to try something" is something they do all the time. Many have believed in and prescribed IVM since long before a vaccine was even available - and more importantly - no other option than "go home and hope for the best". You don't need much anecdotal evidence to "try something". As long as it is not prohibited, it's the doctors prerogative to prescribe whatever he thinks works. FDA still says "not authorized or approved for Covid", but not "prohibited". Since when was "approval" required for off label use?
You really want government, who is corrupted by big pharma "donations", to be able to dictate what a doctor *can* prescribe? Completely regardless if IVM works or not, that is setting up for a *really* dangerous trajectory.

I know it's easy to mispeak, but Dr. Campbell is doing more than delivering news. With his Ph.D. training, he does what most reporters can't do. He reads and digests articles that come directly from the medical journals. He can judge the quality of of his sources. He can synthesize everything he reads and hears and with the context of his scholarly background and experience, he's able to draw interpretations and make predictions. I love his videos, and like others here, I do watch both Dr. Campbell's videos and the videos on this channel.
When watching Dr. Campbell, however, one has to keep in mind that he is in the UK. Sometimes, what he says doesn't apply to the US. For instance, he's been talking as if the pandemic were ending as we speak. Maybe closer to the UK, far from it in the US. We lag behind the UK, we have a massive population and a political problem that puts a ceiling on the portion of the population we can get vaccinated. So the dynamics are different. I keep that in mind when watching his videos.

I myself didn’t question this (at the time I thought he was a medical doctor) and went around telling everyone to get ready to be sick with COVID - and that just made ME look hysterical. He was also wrong about the ridiculous Ivermectin, which we know does nothing in saving lives. I watch most of Campbell’s videos - but I no longer just accept what he says.

    • @LarryFournillier
      @LarryFournillier 2 роки тому +9

Will, I do agree regarding the Ivermectin debacle. However, the majority of his other calls, especially pre and post Delta were very accurate. Most importantly his deliveries were always calm and reassuring. Unlike most of the media houses who touted fear and anxiety to the masses.

A couple of UA-camrs I followed in the early days of the pandemic (all of them were ‘doctors’) - people who really seemed to know what they were talking about - have turned out to be quacks. Dr. Campbell is clearly trying his best - but there are gaps in his knowledge, and he does have a tendency to exaggerate things at times. Anyway, it’s difficult to sort out what’s true sometimes. And yes, most of us already knew, and can read that he is a NURSE... but you felt you needed to let us know this information in your lengthy comparison of yourself vs. him. Hurrah for Nurses, the true heroes in healthcare! He's highly educated, has an immense breadth of knowledge, & has many years of experience. He is highly RESPECTED. You cannot begin to compare to him when it comes to covid research/information. What is your point in the comparison? I worked as a Respiratory Therapist with many doctors. They mainly came into the ICU, didn't wash their hands, spent very little time with the pt., wrote orders, and left. A large percentage of them had the same type of narcissistic mindset that you just demonstrated in this video, as well. I intubated people too. Who cares? What does a retired bariatric surgeon know about virology? What experience do you have with Covid in patients? Where are the links to your research/sources, etc? Why are you just now shaving to have a better fit with your mask? You should not expose these people at the funeral, as it is well known that the rapid tests have a high incidence of having false negatives. You are sick with something, period. Most likely not your allergies. Why expose people, especially the elderly? My condolences to Erica! I am sure that you were once a great bariatric surgeon, but I am less likely now to listen to your updates, since you've basically expressed that you are far superior, with your MD, than Dr. Campbell. That's laughable. Perhaps now, by reading everyone's opinion on Dr. Campbell, the NURSE, you will understand why HE is trusted, and has so many followers/subscribers. He's also professional and has class-two areas in which you are lacking. Oh, and you don't look good EITHER way, and why would you even ask, lol? Your true character is out and showing.

I appreciate Dr Campbell so much.
And quite honestly, being someone with different autoimmune issues and seeing doctors most of my life…I find that nurses know more than doctors most of the time. They pay attention more. And they do more work. MOST doctors won’t even make eye contact with you, read a sheet about your (that may or may not be written down correctly) then make a guess without ever having a discussion with the patient. Not good. I have wished forever that doctors interacted more with patients for better care but that just won’t ever be the case. The only people who have ever caught issues with me is nurses. Because they were the ones talking to me. They were the ones observing. And they are not as dismissive to concerns as doctors.
Also, field is important. I wouldn’t go to a weight loss surgeon for a hysterectomy.
Information is important and I appreciate those who deliver correctly who don’t politicize the issue. But I also keep in mind who the information is coming from.

How often does your team get a playoff game played at your home stadium. Some people, and it is probably the majority of people are more than willing to brave the crowd and go enjoy watching their team play with a bunch of strangers and feel like for a moment in time all connected to a common goal. Campbell received a diploma in nursing from the University of London and Bachelor of Science in biology from the Open University. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in health science from the University of Lancaster and a Ph.D. in nursing education from the University of Bolton. Despite how wiki attacks him for presenting data on Ivermectin effectiveness and drawing conclusions, the man is obviously well respected and has made predictions based on his data analysis that have not only proven reliable, but is also in accord with what many other doctors and scientists have reported back. That being said, lets wait a few weeks or months and see what develops. I would encourage you to follow his channel more closely and not just write him off as a nurse. We've seen how scores of Medical doctors have also made plenty of mistakes regarding Covid. Dr. Campbell is very clear that he is not an MD. He is a PhD. As someone with a PhD and an NP, he’s in a great position to discuss data. Data, data analysis, and the like are all core competencies of any PhD program. The people saying it’s “just a PhD” in education don’t understand what they’re taking about. An EdD or an MD are simply practitioner degrees. Sure, there’s data analysis that is part of these programs, but they’re designed for doers… not researchers.
The best doctors that I have had have been dual MD/PhD holders (oddly they also have MBAs). Just because you’re a practitioner doesn’t mean you’re a researcher and vice-versa.
Campbell has been the much needed voice of reason always showing his sources and data. He’s also done something that pretty much most MDs on UA-cam haven’t done… given people hope. He isn’t all doom and gloom. He gives people numbers and data to support his claims.
Of course some of the stuff he has cited has been small studies and such, but what does one expect in such a fluid situation? This isn’t life in a lab. It’s the real world. People are dying form COVID, mental illness, and a myriad of other issues.
One could make the argument that a bariatric surgeon shouldn’t be commenting on COVID, too.
It takes perspective, understanding of data, and tact to share information on this issue.
