★ 4K 🇨🇭Cab Ride: Lenzburg - Baden Oberstadt - Zürich [2016]

- On this journey, we take the old line in order to bypass the Heitersberg Tunnel due to construction work. The old line is usually only used for freight trains, since the regional trains were discontinued many years ago. The stations however, remain and are labeled in the video.

Please forgive the shakyness of the image at times. This was due to vibrations caused by the locomotive and the reduced image stabilisation in 4K mode with the camera I was using.

Great video full of interest. I wish British railways were so modern and operated so efficiently.
Thank you.
Very good.Thank you.
I watch a lot of these Train journey videos, and love the way most Countries have the tracks more open to the adjacent Countryside. In the UK, Train lines are virtually hidden in a lot of areas and heavily fenced off in others. It's as though they don't trust people not to walk on the tracks. I must say, you seem to have an impressive Rail Network. Enjoyed this video and look forward to watching more. Thank you.
Thanks for your comment. I find comparisons very interesting. We do have a very trusting approach here in Switzerland. Many public walkways go through private farms, factories and docks without problems.
I noticed that s well. I pay attention to the paths along the tracks. Personally,I love walking tracks, but where I live I walk ON the tracks cuz no paths. I also find cool rusty pieces of metal and “ railroad poops” ( I think it’s tachenite?? spelling? Little round balls that look like old “ Bennington” marbles used in some sort of industry). Rock on
Danke für das Einblenden der Stationsnamen!!!
Nice walk in the cabin white some interesting crossings like the TGV
Fantastic bit of history thank you for sharing
SUPER
Thanks
The presence effect is excellent.
Que viagem bacana...muuuito bom mesmo!!!!
Lovely video. Nice clean & well maintained track.
Thanks a million for posting this video. I have not been back in CH since 1995. I am from Nussbaumen near Baden. It felt great watching my old stomping place. Viele Gruesse von Kanada.
Thanks for your comment! Glad you liked it. What type of trains did they use on that line?
I do not know, but they looked a lot like the Ae6/6 you have on another video
Brilliant video! I really enjoyed watching!

Most enjoyable.
Many thanks!

Espetacular!
Ok.
Thank You for an enjoyable ride. Also, you make it easy for me to follow your progress along the way because you print the name of the city or town you are passing through.I follow you on two screens so i know exactly where you are.I am able to stop the video and look at photos or just read about your country.Thank you again.
Bei 4:44 neus Bänkli entdeckt.Danke für das Video.
haha.. sehr gerne.
Nice videos
Glad you like them
@@lorirocks777 thanks
Enjoying all your videos from Canada. It's amazing how much your country is non-alpine.
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, the alps cut across the lower part of Switzerland. The rest is still quite hilly though. The alps make a wonderful backdrop on a clear day if you're not right in them. Which videos do you enjoy the most?
I 've only watched 3 but all of them are great. I really like cab-views as it is great way to see the country. I really like the 'overlay's showing station names & other lines @ junctions. Cheers,Don
Ok, good to know. Thanks. My goal is to cover as much of Switzerland as possible, so the alpine tracks are coming too.
Nice Video.
Sehr schnell Reisen. :-)
Fühle mich wie zu hasue, schöne aufnahme
Das stimmt 😁
Merci!
Like!!!.
Thank you
Fascinating. I’m confused though. Is the country evacuated?
26:51 no. There are cars and people everywhere during the whole video.
Danke für das schöne Video.
Was bedeutet das akustische Signal?
Otto
Greetings from Lisbon. What's the engine ? An Re 4/4 ? It accelerates fast to its top speed (i know it's 140 in most of the mainline, except in Dietikon curve and from ZRH-Alstetten to Zurich Hbf). It sounds almost like some older EMUs that we had over here wich used swiss technology (Oerlikon 'direct' engines but built or adapted to work at 25 Kv). By the way, the current hitersberg line is a late 1970s creation right ? What was the route used for the main line trains from Zurich to Bern and Luzern untill this line was built/adaoted ? And the 'Old' line is really nice with its lighter rails, tight curves and grades. One last question; are those yellow antennae in the middle of track for ERTMS ? Thanks in adavnce
Yes, an Re 4/4 II. They can accelerate faster than this, especially with fewer coaches. The train being pulled was around 480t. One Re 6/6 alone can accelerate to 100 in under 8 Seconds. I'm sure Re 4/4 IIs wouldn't be far behind. Before the Heitersberg tunnel was opened, the line from Othmarsingen to Wettingen was single tracked, so that wasn't the old main line.
There were 2 possibilities. Either from turning after Rupperswil to head through Wildegg - Brugg - Zürich, or continuing straight at Othmarsingen and then heading through Brugg to Zürich. The most probable is the first option.
21:40 no ETCS ???
Danke. Frage: Was war das für ein Zug?
Vielen Dank.
Re 4/4? IR, RE? Up!
rabde1041 Merci. Re 4/4 II mit IR Basel - Zürich
Was heißt SIM übersetzt?
Nice video interesting line shame it's been decommisioned for passenger trains.
Yes. They're looking at opening it back up again.
@@lorirocks777 nice one, may be able to get out there one day and ride the train.

What are the three beeps for?
Robert Beadle When you pass a distance signal with a speed limit restriction, you're required to acknowledge it with the turn of a switch. After this, the first beep stops and 2 follow.
Es heisst: Rangierbahnhof Limmattal
Ok danke
what are those numbers close to the red lights ? it seem to be from 6 to 10, what does it mean ?
I don't think this system exist in France
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_railway_signalling
@@lorirocks777 ok thank you, so these numbers are the speed limit : 6 = 60 km/h and 10 = 100 km/h
Yes. Up to 15.
@@lorirocks777 what is the fastest train in switzerland in km/hour ?
Abriko Between Olten & Bern, they drive 200km/h and the two alpine base tunnels allow up to 250km/h, however currently trains run at 200.
Warum fährt der Zug durch Bden Oberstadt? Ist das kein Umweg??
Er muss nach Mellingen. Alternative wäre in Mägenwil umfahren.
Never got to see this side of Switzerland back in 74. His tours suck of a 16yr old.
Do people in Switzerland put coins on the track to squish them? I have dozens of squished coins.
Nope
