The FPS where you fight Griffons and Minotaurs

Legendary is a game that mostly lives up to its name. Please note I did not include the 40+ minutes of me not being able to figure out what to do at the machine gun nest section. That part of the game is certainly not legendary. - Ігри
At one point in this game, you have a fight against two minotaurs at once. When you beat them, you unlock the achievement "DouBull TrouBull". Only a few seconds later, you unlock another achievement, "I Owe You an Apology", where the lead designer apologizes for the terrible pun. Why can't more games have fun with achievements like that?
investors do not care about fun
Worth 1 and 14 gamerscore respectively lol
When I got that one ps3, my gf at the time and I spent 20+ minutes just laughing our asses off! I was stoned, I don't know what her excuse was
You missed the best bit. The first one was 1 point and the second one was 14 points lmao
CoD world at war when you hit 10th prestige.
"Go get some sun - 0 gamerscore.
You achieved the highest level in the game. Time to go outside and find some things to do..."
This oboeshoes guy should start a UA-cam channel he’s funny
Lol you're funny 🤣
That'd be a good idea, maybe he could make shitting length videos that are comedic through and through so the fecal matter will push farther out everytime you laugh.
@@samholdsworth420 funny how?

At least this game's trying new things. The concept's cool.
As for the rock golems not tossing pyramids at you, I can guarantee that was because of deadlines or budgetary constraints.
I would blame it mostly on technical problems tbh
Exactly
The one time we wanted a turret rail section and we don't get it!
"trying new things" by having a scripted opening where you avoid dangers, guns and superpowers, and fantastical elements in a modern day setting? that's like every single shooter since half-life 1
I played the absolute shit out of Legendary game back on my ps3. It has such an awesome concept imo. Good times with this one.
Facts this was my favorite game type especially with the title music and the lab sequence where you can just sandbox and send monsters to an arena to fight each other. Honestly god tier for that
It just occurred to me that we don't really get much middle-market trash anymore. Grey-brown FPS games might have been the Swan Song for that genre of game, because it's all either AAA or Indie now, very little in between. It's pretty sad
I miss the company sponsored games. 🤣 the stuff sold specially in certain outlets and end up in the bargain bin after a year of shelf life. The ones that get bought because grandparent misheard the title of the game and got "half strife: uncharted" that sounds real... it hopefully isnt.
it also doesn't help most everything is done digitally now. So people either buy things on Steam, Ebic, or Third party browser system.
@@navybr0wnie so youre sayings games with smaller budgets being able to release without paying to print a bunch of dumb phsyical copies no one wants is why theres no B market?
you still get them occasionally. The new Shadow Warrior trilogy or that one WH40K game, can't remember the name
there's still plenty of AA games, just look at thq nordic and how many studios they own, most of them are AA. They just don't make these shitty grey and brown uninspired shooters anymore.
I actually really like this game. Would like another FPS like it with a government agency fighting monsters. Like Hellboy but you are human.
Control?
@@samh1022 I mean, there you still play as a parautilitarian. Great game, amazing even.
Still, it would be nice if we got the Astra Militarum treatment of just playing as a regular bloke with a weapon and a mission, fighting against enemies for whom that may not be the gest equipment to fight against.
There is just something inherently fun about the concept of fantasy meets reality.
@@samh1022 it's not really a shooter, more of a return to monke simulator
@@montecarlowithdawningornam1817 with more stoning than the entire Saudi Arabia
If you can deal with the motion controls, you may like The Conduit games for Wii. It's a duo of FPS games where you play as a government agent with an alien artifact called the All Seeing Eye (ASE) and you fight aliens and otherworldly creatures invading earth.
Not gonna lie, if there was an open world game set in mildly destroyed NYC where it is infested with dangerous folklore creatures would be dope.
I know right. That'd be so cool
Compared to most games, Legendary isn’t anything too special.
Compared to Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, it deserved to win game of the year.
Exactly
Both turning point and legendary's setting was cool. It was just executed poorly. Legendary wasn't too bad but still a meh game
I played Turning point too, at least it was easy. Hour of Victory ( ebox exclusive ) was even worse and a bit tougher
Ebox? The new console made by Siny
My thoughts exactly. Legendary had a whole lot more depth and polish when it came to the gameplay mechanics and story lore than Turning Point.
Funny enough I made my final year game project based on this game. I loved the concept of the mythical beasts when I played it but the weapons, combat, level design and plot all sucked. So I made a small chunk of what Id have loved the game to have been. It's not polished but I loved making it and I'm thankful for Legendary inspiring me.
If you spread word of your effort, you could probably get people to throw funds at you. Look at how many people in this comment section alone want something like this.
@@KommandoLando Well I do have a sort of vertical slice I could show people. I like to consider it about 1.5 levels because it ends with a more amphoteric moment. It also goes for a more over the top tone. Legendry's mythical beasts were what I took interest in but never cared for the plot so in my version the main enemy of the game is a gryphon. The game play is also more like dusk as it's faster paced.
I'm 100% sure that the pyramid golem thing was concept art for the Egypt level but had to be cut
The magazine ads for this game were the coolest thing ever and what pulled me in. It's a shame it never got a sequel.
there's a possessed soda machine in this game? that's game of the year material right there.
I really wish this concept could have been executed in a modern, more well put together, game. This game is still fun imo, and it was crazy cool back when I was a kid (2008'ish)
Crazy to think thats a year after halo 3 released.
Reminds me of Clive Barker's Jericho (another game Ohboe should do).
I remember loving that game as a kid
Loved the concept of that game
I actually like that game, Clive Barker's Undying is a way better game though.
I remember Legendary actually being really fun for a 2008 game. Ending seemed a bit rushed though...
Funhaus did a playthrough of this game, and it's one of the funniest things I have ever watched on youtube. I miss the golden funhaus days...
You could say it was…
Legendary
@@luckynumber1059 What are we, some kind of Fun House?
As a child I loved this game along with Homefront. Simple times that made young me enjoy simple games
I loved this game when I was younger!
But so did the meat worm
just wanna point out that even though this game isnt "good" by community standards, i still remember most of the game over a decade later, i cant even remember what the last COD's plot is. The industry really is starving for unique and fun ideas like this.
Someone should start a company that mainly just remakes shitty old games that had creative but poorly realized ideas and remake them to be good. Obtaining the rights would probably be the hard part, but I think it would be a good idea. Someone who understands coding and stuff should do that
@@redeye4516 cool idea. Like old BioWare games for one
By last CoD you mean Vanguard? Yeah, it’s bad. But Cold War was excellent.
@@redeye4516 I wanna see someone remake Bullet Witch.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 its not hard to be good when your just making black ops again.
When you started the How it's Made bit, I really thought you were gonna say those grates were milked from your Creature.
3:45 I laughed so hard when the guy says he shouldnt be poking the thing, but does it anyway
This game still holds a special place in my heart. The guitar rifts, the dynamic intro, and the environments! Yeah it's janky but it's a pretty fun game if you don't take it serious :P
Dude I fucking loved this game
It unironically kinda slapped when I was younger
This actually looked really interesting, I think I’d like to actually play this for myself. That’s only happened twice before with this channel. I think the fact that I’m in a PS3/360 era mood recently does help though.
I actually liked this game, I wish it was fleshed out more and funded. Shooting over sized fantasy/scfi creatures with a machine gun was sick
After all these 2000s shooters I am still waiting for him to play Resistance.
I'm binge watching your channel for the last couple of days.. growing to be my favorite "gaming" channel ou youtube. Love your sense of humor and the crappy nostalgic games. Cheers from Brazil!
Thanks for the seattle hockey reference mr. Oboeshoes
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEATTLE KRAKEN HISTORY
Apparently this game has a wiki with a grand total of 51 articles. This is the featured article on the front page:
"charles dekard is an excellent thief, and knows about electronics and firearms. he is the main character in the game. dekard ."
Man, I remember frequently visiting this store as a kid, that sold movies and games. The owner was the only employee, and would just sit there, playing said games/watching movies all day, until a customer shows up. Sometimes I would just chill there with him, talking about upcoming releases or co-oping split-screen. One of the times after school, I stopped by to see, if there’s anything new to watch/play, and he suggested Legendary, but also went “it’s not good, but there’s good ideas, and its concept is cool.” That’s exactly, how I felt about it upon playing. Never even finished it, actually, but it still remains in my memory as “what-could-be”. Good times.
Legendary gave me and my buddies motion sickness and the entire time i thought "This feels like a knockoff bioshock"
The gas prices in this game are better than reality lol
dude let’s get a reboot of this, this looks tight as hell
If oboe asks why you DIDNT put a turret section misson in your game you know you fucked up
twosentencehorror getting their comestibles from their creatures is my favorite running gag of all time
We need more video games where we fight enemies.
That Gas comment was closer to home than I would like
Lol I love the cod zombies music in the background while doing the TwoSentenceHorror bit.
EDIT: The minotaur part made me remember that on the Xbox 360 version when you beat the 2 minotaurs you get an achievement with a pun name for like 1 gamerscore, then you immediately get another one with the rest of the gamerscore that apologizes for the bad pun. And because Oboe is a huge fan of bad puns, I imagine that would have gained an extra point at least. Then maybe been immediately docked it for reminding him of how gamerscore existed and how people were obsessed with it.
Yoo I played this game when I was 10 when it came out. Then my parents saw the train car of bloody corpses and decapitating werewolves and made me play spyro instead. Little did I know they were just trying to save me from mediocrity.
the achievements were Dobull Trobull, and Sorry. i still fondly remember both achievements.
You're my favorite UA-camr right now. Your sense of humor and comedic timing keeps me entertained. 🤣
As someone from Seattle, I appreciated your Kraken joke. Bravo sir.
yoooo I have been waiting for this video. such an underrated goofy game
This is the game that gave my 360 the red ring of death
Your laugh is so genuine in this video, I love it.I am one of about 350 people, the rest people who commented underneath this video or just you, who ever played this. It wasn't bad at all, it was pretty entertaining for what it was.
Funhaus did this before but since I found you you are a great replacement.
Edit: realized my wording came off backhandedly.
you have a wonderful ability to teach me so much about a game while also leaving me highly confused at what is going on
GTA 4, Left 4 Dead, Mirror's Edge, COD World at War, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Far Cry 2, Bioshock, Dead Space, Saints Row 2, Armored Core: For Answer, Prince of Persia... The last quarter of 2008 was packed with absolutely stellar games. Legendary is a 6/10 that people treat like it was a 3/10 because it came out at an unfortunate time.
Awesome OST and OP axe
Love that you’re playing these games, I’ve played most myself but my friends never did, nice to hear someome else’s opinion
My favorite thing about this game is the bug at the very end of the game that makes you fall through an elevator, preventing you from ever finishing the game, and the fucked up ragdolls.
this is a piece of nostalgia, along with my brother who play this and darkest days
I watched this while eating a Single Man Dinner™
If chopping an enemy’s head off is a mechanic, you’ve gotta have head chopping mechanics for every enemy.
I hope for Halloween this year you play the Road To Fiddler’s Green video game
Before I accidentally bumped into this channel, I never knew there were so many AAA games out there.
Damn bro I forgot about this one. It was one of those games one friend bought, got the achievements, and passed on to another in the group. We had this cycling around for a few months lol
I thought I was the ONLY one who knew about this game
"It's a giant slimy eggsack thing. I probably shouldn't poke it."
**Proceeds to poke it and dies**
10/10 Writing. Give these guys an Oscar!
Wow I actually regret missing this stream
I thought I dreamed this game I literally convinced myself it wasn't real holy shit is it crazy to see after all these years I cant believe this actually exists
Everyone needs to wait for more oboeshoes content
Little do they know i can just milk more from the creature
This commentary makes me want this game
that Minotaur solving the maze part really got me almost choking on my breakfast :D
Finally! Hell yessss. Been suggesting this for the past year.

The nostalgia that song evokes...
That Seattle kraken joke made my day thank you so much
unironically loved this game
10 years i was trying to remember where i saw this game!
A decapitated werewolf is permanently dead... well, just like any other being
Next game: Mercenaries world in flames. I want to watch you take one of my favorite childhood games and tear it to shreds.
We gotta go back! They had 5.99 gas!!!
yeeees, i clearly remember this one, the beggining was so good
The comic got this game was pretty good and the main character talked
Little did he know
I liked the video but I was secretly a creature
*insert vine boom*
I just realized that this game has been in my Steam library for at least a couple of years, and I've never played it.
Looks like Oboe shoes games is out of Xbox 360 shooter games.
He must visit the basement, the creature is ready to be milked.
This game seemingly magically appeared in my steam library, it was pure dumb fun, story made no sense, but I actually had a lot of fun with it
Soundtrack to this game is great
i hated this game when i first played it till watching this video. The fact you can shoot the windows out makes this game more bearable
I played this game as a kid, and i love greek mythology, so I have fond memories
Me and my brother used to play those old ps2 demo discs a lot and lengendary was on there and being little kids who hadn’t really been exposed to much more than ssx tricky, medal of honour and Rayman, getting thrown into a destroyed city full of the monastery’s from our literal nightmares was genuinely fucking terrifying.
Games in Bio: Half-Life 2
Me: yes but also, no.
DUDE!!! I remember playing this game in my cousin's 360 back when I was like 7 years old
I remember owning this game and I remember Loving the living hell out of it
Thank you for the Seattle kraken joke
Man my dad played this game SO MUCH. I feel bad for him, no wonder why he doesn’t bother with games
OMG! Some of the stained glass breaks! Epic game!
If only it had named drinks on the soda machine…. :(
I have very fond memories of watching Funhaus play this one
I remember people complaining about how sometimes the werewolves would clip into the wall when you downed them, and you weren't able to cut their limbs off so they would just regenerate
Man I remember playing the shit outta the demo back on 360. Loved it to death but was never able to get the full game
So when you planning on playing alone in the dark
Don't care about any negative reviews this game got, I loved this game...
I remember my mom coming home with this game. It was a good game
Legendary was literally the first fps I ever played, the memories
6:30, I didn't know this game takes place in modern day California
You said the thing about gas prices, you do realize gas is like 7$+ in LA
Now you have to torture yourself- I MEAN- Enjoy the Alone in the Dark reboot.
I remember seeing concepts for this game and getting hyped and then never buying or playing it
I bought this game for like a dollar fifty. Don't recall it being very good, but the concept is incredible! I'd say the same for Turning Point. If any game needed a proper remake
it's this. They'll remake Bubsy and Shaq Fu but never ever consider something that had actual potential.
Awesome video man. As are all your others. 250k subscribers and I still feel like you're criminally unsubbed. I'm sending this to a few mates, they'll love it.
It’s a better reason then what I have, groping the armless statues is apparently against the many rules of the loov I figured that’s why they where there. So if you can’t touch the mannequins in the mall, or in the loov.
