Frontlines: Fuel of War is the greatest Battlefield campaign

- Frontlines: Fuel of War is a game with a weird drawing of George Bush and Putin. Whoever drew them was not very good. I think the got the cheap knockoff world leaders because you probably have to pay to license actual photos of them, and they figured nobody would care. Well, jokes on you. I care (but not enough to write a whole paragraph about it)

4:28 unironically most tanks and armoured vehicles are CBRN rated so can protect you from some amounts of nuclear radiation so long as the crew compartment stays sealed

Loved this game when I was a kid. I remember the castle mission where you start out in a helicopter like the back of my hand.
I remember I died a lot there. I don't know if you spawned the wrong kit or I did something wrong
That mission was great
Same with me. That mission is always the reason I go back and play it
I remember the sniper mission where it was just you against the enemy. That was intense.
I love how a bunch of shooters from the early to mid 2000’s had US forces using M8’s because everyone thought we’d finally replace the M-16/M4 platform with those
It was a better perfomance weapon than the M4, but the materials flaw (that could have been fixed) were the good excuses that the M4philes inside the US army needed to reject it
I think it's happening again with the Sig MCX, now that it's being considered, since it's been in COD MW and BF 2042
@@TacticalBaguette the MCX is even on the civilian market so is not strange to see it on games, one was even used on a mass Shooting
@@TacticalBaguette ArmA 3 has MCX since 2013 lol
@@Type1-2 that's the MX. It's a fictional weapon for NATO, and was designed by CMMG via contract with BI. Doesn't have any real life counterpart, it's just a futuristic rifle for the setting
i played this game as a kid. loved 100% the online mode had 100+ people matches for console at the time unheard of and still not that many games do that. they had everything in these 50/50 matches tanks, helicopters it was epic. Jets. it was epic for the time
@@null643 wasn't that MAG that died quickly?
@@nolef7nu7 MAG was dead on arrival p much. I remember not being able to find a match after 8 months
100%. I loved this game when it came out.
This is why bot support is so important: It means even if it is just you and a few friends who still play something like this, you can still have lots of fun. Heck, I still play Battlefield 1942 solo!
Best multiplayer map was the one where you had to take transport helo's over a mountain and land your team on the other side was so much fun being the transport pilot. Had to dodge rocket fire and big gun fire to land and your team got out and dispersed then you took off back to base to bring more of your team over the mountain. Never played such a dynamic multiplayer map where the NEED for good transport helo pilots to actually win the match before or since.
You know your game is made in the early to mid 2000s and set in the near future when everyone is using XM8's.
In a ww3 type scenario were you can invade Russia as the US and not get nuked
Can you imagine this and End War took off as franchises and the two had a crossover multiplayer mode where the Endwar players would command units like an Strategy game and deploy units around the world and the Frontlines players would act out those orders. That would be amazing to see.
like an age of empires where you deploy rust kids to farm wood?
a fellow Frontlines and ENDWAR enjoyer? what a chad

The ace combat ost in the background of the barrel was hysterical.
The multiplayer for this was actually really good if the whole server was full, sadly it was a bit of a missed opportunity so never really took off. Cool concept though, I liked this game lot
i had a good amount of buddies that i used to play this game a lot with. sometimes, we'd end up on the opposite side and i'd piss them off with a rail turret.
There's something eerie about walking around in an empty multiplayer map from an abandoned game. It's like being in an empty mall.
"Fifty thousand players used to play here. Now it's a ghost town."
Liminal spaces
I agree with that a lot. I recently walked around in a few WaW maps, literally just to revisit a couple maps (i was bored), and damn, it definitely felt very eerie to me. it was like a WW2 veteran revisiting a battlefield he once fought at. "'i used to never be able to cross this street without getting shot at, now I can cross it and theres nobody in sight".
@@0292-q3l I’ll go one further, I once watched a video years ago called ghost of vacant, the cod4 map, when I was in school. It was about a guy practicing quickscopes in a private lobby when he encounters some creepy nameless bot stalking him round the map. Long story short it actually gave me the fear about being on cod maps alone haha.
Also the background music in waw is super eerie, being last man on search was another level.
@@dan_mitch damn bro I remember something similar on WaW! On Makin (Night) apparently you would have to go in a game by yourself and wait an hour or so, then you'd see Samantha the little zombie girl walking around, but if she saw you she would chase you around and wouldn't let you leave or turn your game off! Lol, all fake but it really sent shivers down your spine.. But also I used to play Halo 3 a lot back then too, and there was a rumour about how if you go into a map on your own, there would be a bot doing the same thing, but he would kill you over and over again, same thing, you couldn't leave or turn your console off haha, all fake but it was very eerie lol.
@@0292-q3l haha that’s the shit bro, that era of games was unreal..
I remember playing this on 360 when the multiplayer was still active. It was actually kinda fun. It got ruined by hackers and some things were pretty unbalanced. The devs just never bothered to fix them.
The game actually got quite a few balance-related patches. Explosives were heavily nerfed, and a spawn protection feature was added.
They never fixed the invisibility glitch :(
It's like Tom Clancy's Endwar, but as an FPS
they even have the ghosts crosscom xd
If those franchises took off I feel like the fandoms would be so wholesome to each other and can you imagine an actual crossover between the two. That would be so awesome.
@@Marylandbrony 'wholesome' you use reddit.
And it's also like the first Battlefield Bad Company as well.
Two of my favourite games from that era, both T rated and quite fun. Endwar fell off quicker for me but this game provided me with dozens of hours of fun, if not hundreds.
Even Frontlines feels more like a Battlefield game than Battlefield 2042 does.
Get good
Still crying about it I see. I'll see you on the next vid as well

@@z-e-t-aanimations8823 they gotta justify the fact that they spent money on a broken game in their minds somehow 😂
That Liberation of Gracermeria segment killed me.
"GO, BARREL! DANCE WITH THE ANGELS!"
I have the album in my playlist and thought that it randomly started playing
Kinda nitpicky here but since the cold War days tanks have been fitted with radiation, biological, and chemical protection. Meaning you're completely safe from all of that when inside the sealed tank
I just want to say your use of the climax of Liberation of Gracemeria while you shot that barrel towards your enemies was beautiful.
I remember playing it as a kid I love the game and I don’t care what anyone says it’s one of the best fps games
Unlike most WW3 games, where it just cuts to “West Vs East (Russia/China” without any pretext, one of my favorite aspects of Frontlines is the LORE. The Timeline you can access in the main menu is SO incredibly detailed with alternate history detailing political turmoil, climate disasters, economic depression, etc. It’s fascinating how much effort they put into this, story wise.
Is also surprising how much did they get right
Many of the events of the timeline have happened in real life
I suppose the world can be predictable sometimes
Predictive programming perhaps, it rips from movies and then real life dictators are inspired by such fiction
frontlines fuel of war: still better than vanguard
As somebody who bought Vanguard, i agree.
I unironically loved the multiplayer in this game and remember hoping it'd get a franchise
I remember broken damage on release so the only lethal weapon was rocket launcher. Surprisingly fun times.
it was awesome. some great urban maps and high player count
Got this with games with gold a few months back and honestly it's amazing.
Being able to actually feel like a soldier on an actual front line that continually gets pushed back and forth is just so cool, I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something
The Fires of Liberation music when the barrel exploded was great
I had this game when I was a kid, father bought it for me after I asked for battlefield or call of duty and he gave me this since it was cheaper (kinda poor at that time) and i was sad because i didn't want to tell dad I didn't like it so i just played alot.
I remember getting the achievement for the Xbox 360 were one of the hardest things for me, since MP was kinda empty and only the try hard were left.
Damn, time flies by...
I remember getting this game in highschool and all I remember about the game is, “why did I finish it? It was terrible” 😂
It was kinda cool when it came out. Didn't it have like the highest amount of players per Multi-player map, aswell as some of the biggest multi-player maps for consoles when it came out?
@@Gameprojordan idk, I think I played the online for like a day? I remember it feeling clunky and got bored fairly quickly and just played Halo 3 multiplayer

Black for ps2 was a phenomenal shooter and way ahead of its time.
And Japan had a motion controller for both super nintendo and ps1.
Man some good memories, I was the only one in my group of friends to have played it.
There were some cool mechanics !
For the next game nobody played, I suggest "Quake Enemy Territory", it's like Battlefield 2142 but...
there are a lot of unknown games nobody have played , like kane & lynch dead men, turok (2008), soldier of fortune the payback, the club, blacksite area 51, conflict denied ops, timeshift etc.
@@eduardolobos7380 All games I've played... I was so naive back then and choose the game by the cover.
@@mystershow i like all those games i have mentioned it except the club and conflict denied ops cause i havent played them, and about the game show on the video frontlines fuel of war i have downloaded from xbox for free but i just disliked it, was so boring and awful, and the strange thing is that have way higher score that all the game games i mentioned.
Cool cool, I have Frontlines and the other shooters mentioned here except BlackSite. It didn't interest me back then, but I'd give it a go. I love movement shooters so The Club's a favorite of mine. I really liked the Kane & Lynch characters and still want a third game. :/
3 extra missions are not paid DLC you put in an code in the options menu and then you can play them.
Agreed. I think Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising pulled this code dlc thing too.
Liberation of Gracemeria can make anything hype.
Maaaaaan your running through every game I played in my early teens and I love it lol, keep it up!
Getting this game to work was the greatest frontline of all time.
This and COD 4 were my first FPS shooters and unironically i really enjoyed it had some amazing online experiences and i thought for the time the campaign was the coolest out there
What made this game fun was the fact that it was one of the only games on 360 that had 50v50 multiplayer matches
I remember this being the best console Battlefield-like experience until Bad Company came out.
multiplayer for this game was actually sick. being a huge battlefield fan, it was cool to see a different version of it.
Barrel of Gracemeria was 10/10
Played this as a kid and it was amazing. Huge battles, a cool story and a lot of it has come to pass
Tbh that is impressive.
I hate to admit I had the special edition of this game with the T-shirt and art box lol.
Still better than 2042
"That is wheely disappointing."
It was at that point orangeade began spraying from my nasal cavity. It hurts.
It always puts the biggest smile on my face whenever you use Ace Combat music for videos to totally unrelated games.
I remember this shooter having a generic resource crisis future-war scenario, but also for acknowledging the risks and showing the use of tactical nukes by a desperate actor in a mostly conventional war. Still sucked butt though.
i must just really not get the point of what makes games fun; cuse i enjoyed this game alot for what it was.
@@CallofDutyBlackOps28 the weapon spread wasnt that good but still good
we do not deserve such a masterpiece
lmao i remembered playing this game when the only battlefield game i had was battlefield modern combat, it was fun slinging around the map with a humvee attached with a bunch of c4s and detonating it near a tank
good times
Holy nostalgia trip. I absolutely LOVED this game. The online multiplayer was incredible too
This game was so much fun as a kid. It was the first time drones had been introduced into a game (that I ever saw) and it was so much fun. Seeing peoples minitank drones destroying in multiplayer, running around the map in a battlefield style multiplayer match, it was so much fun
That alpha build BF 2042 joke hit a bit too close to home!
Lol, I clicked on this video and barely a minute in I get an ad for CoD Vanguard. I'd rather buy and play Frontlines: Fuel of War than ever touch Failguard.
Too bad it didn't become a franchise. I guess Homefront 1 was pretty much a spiritual successor, especially the multiplayer.
This was a great game and so was HomeFront. Both had a great Campaign and Multiplayer.
You can stick the C4 into EVERYTHING in this game
including your drones making them ultra-cancer for every vehicles 10/10
I was looking for videos on Frontlines to fuel my nostalgia and here you are using the theme to taking back Gracemeria, thank you sir. Dance with the Angels!
oboshoes' knowledge of fonts continues to amaze me
Oboeshoes has the talent of recognizing Microsoft Word fonts on the spot. We need more like him.
I have no idea why game developers just dont remake video games into next gen games. Im not just saying put next gen graphics into the game but literally rework the game from the bottom up amd add next gen features, rework maps, player abilities. Honestly we domt need to come up with new games but rework what we got already.
Facts
Now we need to get a Homefront and Homefront The Revolution video. Homefront 1 was the spiritual successor to Fuel of War by the same company. Even the MP has lots of stuff from Fuel of War like lots of drone usage. There are some private servers going. So you might actually be able to get into a game.
This was the first game my dad got me with my 360, no Halo, No kid games, just FFoW. And I LOVED IT! This game has a cool ass sandbox, nothing legendary, but it knew what it was and is a fun game to play, and even replay. A coop mod would be so dope
Dude I love the commentary. My first video of yours and I’m glad I found your channel.
I feel like this is one of those games that only handful of people including myself played back in when it released. Multiplayer was surprisingly fun with all the weird drones available.
Man 100% gold please keep doing what your doing or evolving to be better, quality content is hard to find now and the algorithm finally brought me to you. Binging now
Merry Christmas!
This is my childhood
Played this game a lot when I didn’t have good enough internet for multiplayer. I use to load up solo multiplayer matches to pretend I was in some action packed game. Kinda sad lol. Glad I have gig-speed nowadays 🤟😂
The most I remember from playing this game as a teen is that it has bus technicals on the Moscow map. That's it.
Thanks for uploading on Christmas this is one of my top 5 presents. Merry Christmas Oboe 🙏🎅
I loved this game. The gunplay isnt great but the multiplayer had alot of character- and alot of people
I had an online friend hype this up to me so much I bought it on release. Not with full price but still great fun.
I'm really surprised he didn't mention the uniforms are literally just the Colonial Marines ones from Aliens. They've got the pads in all the same places, the helmets and flags are different but otherwise the similarities are uncanny.
Finally someone big is talking about this game, my first fps ive ever played when i was 7.

Fires of Liberation was HARD
here is a game i own, i keep forgetting exists, then i see it in my collection, then play it, and forget again
they predicted the suicide drones

Great video
that dialogue at 5:52 was the best part of the video XD
The multiplayer for this game was badass for the time, but always very clearly doomed to fail. RIP
Plays “Fires of Liberation” as a barrel with c4 on it rolls slowly at a bad guy.
Best video on the channel
Man, desert combat and the original battlefield 1942 bring me back 20+ years. Me, a couple of friends and my brother walking a few blocks to an pc cafe and playing that mod for $2 an hour. We were very causual, so no headsets back then lol, just calling out to your friend or saying loudly "who got me?!" And a random responding with glee lol. I was terrible at flying the helicopters at first(I never had a PC at home and this was the first time I used a keyboard and mouse to play a game), it was always hilarious when people followed me into one, I tried to warn them LoL. Good times and memories.
I loved this game. I would love to finally get a sequel or a spiritual successor
You know what they say about war crimes?
"It's never a war crime, the first time."
Yoooo online matches with this were wild. I wish I got more time with it

I spent so much time playing this game as a kid. I've so much nostalgia for trying to get the planes to work right
I fucking loved this game as a kid. I was obsessed with it and even though the online matches were huge I feel like nobody knows about it
2:12 I’ve played enough Ace Combat to recognize that music is Ace Combat 6
It's pretty dated but I had a blast with this on the xbox when it still had online. My memory is super bad but I remember this had a lot of things that were novel at the time like the drones you could use. I remember the maps being huge in MP as well but I could be wrong.
Omg I've been asking for this for years! Finally! I feel my life has meaning now!!! Now where is our Dishonored Death of an Outsider?
I like how you brought up Bank Gothic which is the font used for MW2 lol
I remember buying this game when it came out and I never got it to work, so I wrote a letter to the customer service and I got a response from them! Still wasn’t able to play but I’m glad you got it to work

I'll always remember the level where you go into that missile base and everyone dies. Game was hella good
"I should play battlefield 2" Yeah, good luck with that.
This game was supposed to be the new call of duty 4, we were all playing cod 4 when this came out and everybody really thought it would take over and the biggest shooter and it didn't, was still a cool gamr
this game had a cool cover art i saw a bunch of times in old gaming magazines
I actually got Frontlines: Fuel of War after Homefront's announcement, hyped for it.
My god i think remeber that final mission. The nukes off in the distance, the finale holdout. Yes
Multiplayer was fun. I loved the WC heli assault over a mountain map the most and solar farm.
I remember briefly owning this game back in school. I think I traded it in after like a day. 😂

This was a STAPLE back in the day, first played this at like 10, or 11, got so sucked into the story, so much nostalgia.
"Hard hitting barrel based content". Love it
Oh, someone talking about this game? That's new.

Ok you do realise you've gotta do Codename Eagle now right? The OG Battlefield campaign before BF campaigns were even a thing. Joint Operations would be pretty funny to do too
