Know that bay well! Always good for a spot of flattie bashing! Looking forward to the Ireland vid, bud! Went last year but didn't have my gear with me...big regrets because the water was soooo clear!!

First time I've gone for the flatties there, usually try at much deeper marks but they were all in 2-3m. Ireland was incredible, so much structure in the water so the diving was continually interesting

Awesome stuff dude!! I still struggle with finding some flatty species, that said had a turbot yesterday 🙏 great video buddy, looks like you have a brilliant bed for flatties there, good effort finding them all 💪

Saw your Turbot, impressive fish! On this dive session I found the imprints of several small Turbot however the footage is too poor to use. They're around but almost impossible to spot I suppose. Was yours sat on top of the sand or just the eyes visible?

@@jackmetcalfe8542 ah nice mate, they will be about then! I could only see the eyes looking at me, then the more I looked the more outline I started to see, thought it was a brill at first, but wasn't disappointed to be wrong 😅🙏

What I would say is all the interesting stuff is a very long way from the popular mark shown at the end of the video!

I have a love hate relationship with all flatfish species as I've been out targeting them many times with all the right bait plenty of different rigs always 2 rods I put one at distance and one just a few yards, I catch everything else except flatfish and theirs people around me using identical tactics bringing in plaice, flounder, dab and one gul caught a brilliant once but I just got wrasse, Pollack, coalie n mackerel. To add insult to injury a m8 of mine joined me one time and he couldn't even tie a hook on line let alone bait it properly so I did all that casted about 15 yards out and 10 minutes later the rod tip bent slightly and didn't move, I said give it a couple minutes and reel in and he did and a 2lb 3oz plaice came up it didn't start flapping until it was on the pier.. anyway shows I'm in the right spot and my rigs work I just haven't broken the barrier lol. Great video btw

Plaice are often stuffed full of sandeels which surprises me as I don’t know a flatfish hunts fish that swim at pace high in the water column
They’re really interesting species to fish for whatever method you’re using, I’ve caught a few on ledgered ragworm but very hit and miss! I know a lot of guys fish at night for turbot too

Maybe they know how to borrow in the sand or have a trick of luring em out either way that is odd

@@robbieallan6522 sometimes at night the sandeels swim slowly close to the bottom, my best guess is the Plaice & Turbot are hunting after dark

Hi Jack, I'm often at Anglesey spearfishing, I also lived there, can you please tell me was that cable bay or possibly porth nobla ? Great videos, hope to bump into you one day, regards Paul fulton

This is a bit further north, often the vis is better than at Cable Bay, although that can also be an excellent flatfish mark
