As a rod & line angler, when I was a kid I always used to dislike spear fishermen - but you've changed my opinion on that through your educational approach. Respectful and only take what you want. Plus, there can be no more selective form of fishing, making it environmentally-friendly. Great work Joe, keep it up.
Awesome video Joe, you never disappoint! What a cracking haul! I’m off up to North Wales tomorrow for my first trip out on my new boat. I was undecided on taking the dive gear but having seen this, I’ve got to take it, haven’t I! Thank you for the inspiration 😊
Good to see you back in there. We've moved back on land for a while, down in Dorset as our son decided to turn up a couple of months early, so I will be out exploring under the water again soon. That Cuttlefish looks awesome 👌🏼
So glad to see you back with a spearfishing vid! A welcome distraction from winter chill here in the deep south of NZ. Most fish are tough raw when fresh, they need a day for the flesh to relax, have you tried bass raw after resting? I bet it's good...
As always a lovely video from you. Nice to see a coast dive with some good fish. Fishing here in Denmark is catastrophically bad now, most fish gone. Pollution is the main factor I think.
Beautiful Bass and Plaice and a descent size. Great location guess the sea temperature is around 12C deep down. Thanks for the video looks like a great location to dive.
Hi Sir. Great to see you out again. How did you cook the cuttlefish? I caught one last autumn on rod and line by accident and just shallow fried strips of it like you would with squid.
Gear question: are the blue extendable float lines available at Start Point? I can see the red ones on the site... that said, I have deep aversion to anything red, so if I can buy a blue one, that would be great!
I’m a rod and line angler but would love to have a go but can’t hold my breathe more than 15secs 🤣also was you eating a banana 😮they are bad luck on a boat
Go with a 75 for UK waters. Have a look at this link: spearfishingstore.co.uk/product-category/spearfishing/spearguns-and-accessories/ I use the start point labrax 75 which I helped design and it works a treat!
man opens the video up by eating a banana on the boat🤣 I'm not superstitious but after all the grief I got last time I dared do that on a boat . . .it may as well have been real bad luck😂

Thank you for this comment 🙏 made my day 😁
Been a relentless winter. Great start to the season.👍
Agree with that! Hope more sunny calm days to come...
Great to see you back.
Hopefully getting out for our first dive of the year this week, this is just the inspiration I need. Cheers pard.
Wasson? Thanks for your comment, and enjoy your dive!
Great video Joe, thanks for sharing - a sign the season has really begun!
You got that right!
Always good to see another one of your dives pop up on my notifications Joe.
A worthy harvest for your 1st dive this season.
👍🏻
Many thanks Karl
Great vid as always Joe! Looks beaut out there
Cracking video Joe. Good to see you back at it 👍🏼
Cheers Ben!

Watching from the slightly less chilly far north 🙂
Love that you're watching from NZ! Yes I bet the rested version will be much more tender.
Proper good start to the season. Having a boat obviously makes hitting several marks much easier. One day I might invest but for now I'm swimming 😂
Yes is really helps! Still I love shore dives though, some of those to come...

Thanks! SOrry to hear about the state of your coastline though
fantastic video mate
Nice start to the year. We are being mobbed by spider crab at the moment. Looks like there will be a lot this year
I was surprised to see quite a few already. There seem to be more each year!
Good shot !
Nice video man! Don't wait so long and come to spearfish in tropical Panama year-round. I do organize private trips with good people only :)
Ahh panama -sounds like an incredible place to dive!
You certainly had a better trip than we did at the weekend. We didn't see any fish!
You'll find them! They were hiding out a bit in the kelp my way...
Beautiful Bass and Plaice and a descent size. Great location guess the sea temperature is around 12C deep down.
Thanks for the video looks like a great location to dive.
Thanks for watching! Yes it was between 11 and 13 all afternoon
nice!
Cuttlefish pic makes me jealous. I got so many last year and this year zilch so far
They are delicious! Hope you get one soon...
Great oven size fish
Hi Sir. Great to see you out again. How did you cook the cuttlefish? I caught one last autumn on rod and line by accident and just shallow fried strips of it like you would with squid.
I just cover in salt and pepper and fry. I'll cook one up on the boat some time. Great to hear from you Matt!
Torquay boys represent!!!
Joe, you broke the golden rule of the sea, never allow bananas on the boat! Other than that, great work…
Jamie brought them - I ate to save us from the curse
Nice video joe 🥰🤗👋🏻👍🏻🐠🐟🩵💙
Thanks 👍

I’m afraid we only have them
In red as that seems to be the most popular colour! Mine is blue because it was for testing purposes
@@JoePkSpearfishing Ah, that's a shame - thanks for letting me know, much appreciated! I might have to man up and go red then.
Joe, ever considered doing day classes/course around Devon?
Perhaps one day if I can get all the paper work done...
cant complain with that for a first dive
Well done Joe! ‘24 account opened.
which part of the coast are you on?
I’m a rod and line angler but would love to have a go but can’t hold my breathe more than 15secs 🤣also was you eating a banana 😮they are bad luck on a boat
Привет из Беларуси!!
Can you recommend a speargun & website to buy it from?

@@JoePkSpearfishing thanks 🙏
Bread and butter stuff from JPK
Many thanks excellent sir!
Joe Is it ok to dive with a 3 mm suit in Ireland or would it be too cold
3mm way to cold for spearfishing really. 7mm or 5 is ok but I'd say a minimum
@@JoePkSpearfishing Oh ok thanks cause I didn’t know because I’m still new to spearfishing but your content has helped me a lot apreciate it
@@ArijusZabieliauskas Thats awesome thanks for letting me know!
@@JoePkSpearfishing no problem
nice

Whoops, yeah I forgot about that!
Anyone else holding their breath whilst watching this😂😂😂
