I used Automotive Circuit Solutions in March of 2024 to fix my 2004 F150 instrument cluster. They did a marvelous job! A great value - worth every penny of the incredibly reasonable price. I highly recommend their services! My first symptom was a brake light that never went out - was that way when I bought the truck, and local mechanics claimed this is a known issue with Fords that cannot be fixed. Then, my odometer started blinking out intermittently - the LCD display, not the backlight. Then I started to get phantom power lock operations (I would hear the power locks periodically locking with no action by me even though they were already locked). I found this video and read some comments - all these symptoms were linked to the instrument cluster! This video was also the best I found at showing how to properly remove the shift indicator cable. My instrument cluster works perfectly now.
Thx man for making this video. All I did was disconnect the 2 cables and spray em out with electrical cleaner. Figured I'll plug em back in and turn the key to see if that would be enough. Got lucky I guess.
Thank you for showing me you can remove the part that shows what gear your in from the odometer, i never knew that came out and i had this sucker out quite a few times and apart...lol! I was able to get my new cluster in and programmed with forscan.
I have a 2007 F150. I had the same issue. In the process at @1:07 I cracked the top of the dash above the driving wheel trying to get it off. It's 15yrs old and brittle. For those who need it, here the part number for the cowling/dash above the steering wheel 2004-2008 FORD F-150 DASH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TRIM BEZEL GRAY 4L34-15044D70. It's not broken till I fix it!
Just finished installing in a 2006 F150 Lariat. Works perfect. Installation was exactly as described in the video. If your looking to keep your aging F150 I highly recommend.
I have a 2004 f150 have you ever heard of a bad cluster thats not letting my truck start I was told the cluster is bad. Does that have something to do with starting of the truck
If it is a 2004 F150 Heritage then yes the cluster stores the key information and can prevent the truck from starting. If your truck is a 2004 F150 New body style then it is likely not a cluster issue because these trucks can start and run without the cluster. That being said if the cluster is maybe bringing down the CANBus then I guess it would be possible. Easy way to determine if the cluster is the root cause would be to remove the cluster and attempt to start the truck.
Great vid, I have the exact same problem...mind sharing the fix? Bad sauder points? Contact lubricant? Any help would save me $$ and be greatly appreciated.

I have the same exact problem as well. I have not seen an actual UA-cam fix for this particular issue, have you seen or heard anything? I have heard that the solder joints for the Odemtor ribbon connecting to the circuit board can fail. Add solder to all joints.
Thank you for the video, but may I make a suggestion? It may not be entirely necessary, but shouldn't you remove power from the dash before taking the cluster apart? I haven't done this job (yet), but if there's one thing I've learned over the years is that it's generally always better to remove a battery cable before working on the electrical systems of today's electronic-controlled cars. Sometimes all it takes is one short and you can say bye-bye to some of the electronic components, possibly even the PCM. Just my 2-cents.
I bought a similar odometer from a Junk Yard to replace the old single Speedometer... Soon as I got it and replaced it, it was fine till I noticed the Rear dome light dimmed on and sometimes the inside Would flicker on and off. After unplugging and plugging and a Wiggle, the odometer went out. Faulty Odometer? Loose Connections? Programming?

@Automotive Circuit Solutions- would faulty cluster cause no radio or power windows along with no gauge cluster function??
Yes if the gauge cluster fails the radio and power windows loose power as well.

Could a bad cluster prevent it from even starting a couple mechanic s told me I need a new one and it has to be programed cranks but no start?
