Followed your example and the 74 bulb worked like a charm. Thanks, saved me a lot of money, total work time about 12 minutes just because it was 98 degrees.
37 bulb was on point. Just got it at auto value. The 74 bulb is a little bit longer(depth wise) I looked at both in the parts store. Thank you for this video. Literally could not find the part # anywhere, and no parts stores can look it up because they don't even have the info. Hats off to you guy. Been without the odometer light for years! Thanks for saving the day. The little things in life I tell ya.
Thank you sir! I have used several videos to do repairs on cars, motorcycles, etc... this is hands-down the best DIY video I have used. Got the job done in less than 25 minutes on an 07 FX4.
I know that this is an older video, but thanks for taking the time to share it. I used this to quickly change this exact bulb in my 2006 F150 today. Literally took me about 20 minutes thanks to you.
I would just like to say that my Ford dealership quoted me $700 to fix that bulb. $700 for what you say should take 10 minutes. Thank you for sharing and helping other people like me
This video was very helpful but I undid the screws holding the lower trim panel also so it gave me more room to work with. I took me about 20 minutes to do this thanks to this video
This repair took me an hour to complete. I am impressed by your 17 minute video. I Cracked, then subsequently broke the foam area at the top of the dash into 3 pieces. Now I just open the door and the odometer reading is lit up! Thank you for posting and saving me money.
Hey joe thanks a lot recently bought an 05 with the same problem, and this video helped so much , my bulb was a lil hard to come of but I just turned it and it came out! From Long Beach CA take care.
Just wanted to say thanks for the very informative instructions. I have a 2007 F150. With just a basic socket set, and a little effort being a non mechincal genius, took me about twenty being safe first, well done!
Very helpful! Thanks for taking the time to document the process and for adding the details on which bulbs to use. I had it swapped out in less than 15 minutes. Thanks!
This operation worked out on my odometer , 04 super crew, using a 74 bulb. The only exception was that I removed about three screws on the plastic backing to access the bulb. It all works either way. Thanks for the video. Took about 20 min to complete.
Thanks man , I have been putting this off for too long but you made it look easy. I will get her done right away so I can stop using my cell phone light to see in the dark. Thank again and good video.
@@idahodeerhunter yes it took all of 15min, I did not like the fact Napa only sales the whole part bulb and socket for $9.00. and the socket did not fit so I used to old socket.
Great Video! I have a 2008 Ford F150 4.6 V8 and this worked perfectly! When I picked up my light from O'Rielly they told me that sometimes instrument clusters lights are sautered into the casing. That got me worried, but this isn't the case on my Truck the bulb is all you need you can reuse the casing that comes with the truck when removing the old bulb.
I was talking about that with a customer of the old school day's. The shops we had worked at with a Wall of manuals that must have cost thousands back then. You actually had to read, flipped pages and was so grateful for a picture or diagrams back then .
Great video work. I have the 2007 XLT I need to do this on and this is just the info I needed. Thanks for posting. FYI, my XLT does have the heated mirrors, but the switch for that is located below the climate controls, not on the cluster panel, so the extra plug behind there is for something else (models with switch for adjustable pedals?). Also, another difference between the #37 and #74 bulbs is rated average life. The #74 average life is 500 hrs because it burns hotter to get the additional candle power, while the #37 average life is 2500-3500 hrs. So the #37 may not be quite as bright but will last a whole lot longer.
thinks for the info on the bulb life. in my opinion bulb life really doesn't matter to much when you can replace it within 15 minutes. thanks for watching
Some of you are having issues with the LCD screen not showing trip/odometer miles. The LCD screen has six silver prongs(Male ends) that sit inside a (female) sensor that is soldered to the cluster. If any of those prongs are out or bent the screen will go out. Suggest taking it out pull the LCD add a little bit of Di Electric grease and bam you should be back in action. If you look online in Ford Forums there are several pages of this same problem. A 15 minute fix could save you a bundle. Reply if you have further questions.
Hi Kelly Hons, I remove the cluster to resolder that 821 resistor to make the brake light go out. After checking the brake fluid sensor and fluid level. The emergency brake switch was good. Reassembled and the odometer isn't working. I didn't disconnect the battery ? I will check for misaligned pin of that right hand harness connector. Some people are saying blow it out with compressed air? Thanks and will keep you updated. Yet why would the prongs be a problem if I didn't mess with the odometer unit ?
@@MarcusKearny , I found that one of the pins was slightly bent from the factory. It would work intermittent or a speed bump.lol.
