- In this video, I cover a $13 "2TB" drive from Ebay seller homemj231 that is a total scam with less than 20% the storage promised. Here is how I figured it out and here's how to avoid being scammed yourself. Please like and Subscribe. To support me directly, check out my books linked below.

For the sake of transparency, I wanted to explain the end of the story. The seller reached out offering a full refund with no return required. While I wouldn't preferred the product not be fake (and for the offer from day one), I still appreciate that they did the right thing. Please be aware.
Great video
That anyone would be gullible enough to think they could get a 2 TB flash drive for $13 is astounding...
Yes a tech enthusiast wouldn't but grandma Urna might lol.
Something like this happened with video cards a couple of years ago. Cards that were sold as high end 4gb cards but were actually salvaged obsolete 0.5 gb cards with firmware that lied about what they were. The giveaway was that they came with old analog vga ports which the newer cards had stopped supporting. They came with a driver cd and said a note that said, "Do not use any other drivers." Because they of course would not have worked if they used Nvidea drivers for the card it was pretending to be.
There are videos of guys trying to modify the cards so that they work properly for what they were actually built to be, but generally they could not do it.
I think guys tried to salvage these scam thumb drives and at least use them for what they were but I don't think they could.
As long as you only write a tiny amount of files to the scam drives and erase the files each time before you write others, it should be better than nothing in a pinch.
Great points.
Makes ya wonder how many people fall for this type of scam on a daily basis, people are obviously buying them or they wouldn't be selling them
Yeah it's crazy stuff
i actually know someone who bought one, i ended up telling them it was 100% a scam, and they'd lose their data, they told their dad (or maybe mam, i cant remember), and he took it and started using it, despite what i said... i hope he didn't lose anything important, i haven't talked to that friend i a long time 😂😂
@@zoerycroft4300 As I understand it, as long as he doesn't use more than say 2gb of data, it should be ok. Enough to hold your classwork, but no programs or anything like that.
I mean, they do put a tiny amount of storage in these fake drives. He can use it until he finds a non scam drive.
Yes people can use them but I will not be using mine.
I don't know where you get your information but you are years out of date. Legitimate 1TB micro sd cards have been available for years and now they make 1.5TB micro sd cards.
Yes they technically exist but they're uncommon and expensive. That data density can only be done by a few companies so anyone claiming that capacity should be scrutinized before purchase.
