In this video Richard Hookings from Eat Sleep 360 reviews the insta360 bike back bar mount for the insta360 one x camera. This mount is one of many bike mounts for the insta360 one x so how good is it?

Great review, just have a clarifying question. Can you swivel the mount to the sides (left or right) or is the mount only adjustable linearly (up and down)? Basically, I want to be able to take high right/left shots as of the drone is over my left/right shoulder or low left/right shots where the drone is behind my left/right leg while riding my motorcycle.
ManCalledHorse thanks for commenting. You can only move it up and down not left and right but you could slide the belt around to one side which may give you some different angles. I think if I was on a motorbike I’d use a mount that is fixed to the bike itself to make it safer. Let me know how you get on.
I was just wondering about this mount this week. Seems it's got the jerky footage I suspected would result. Would be nice to have a separate tie further up the stick to attach it to something like your shoulder, in order to further stabilize it. I do like the height it gives in the shot. I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of the view with this mount vs. one atop a helmet.
BeerBrewin thanks for the comment. Yes the bounce shows more in some shots than others. There is a GoPro back pack mount which I think maybe better as you’d still be able to get above your head but you’d mount to the backpack so wouldn’t have to extend the selfie stick as high which is what causes the bounce problem. I will be doing a bike mount review soon which will look at various bike mounts and compare footage.
What about putting the backpack over the mount , to kind of hold it place and solid on your backside? So between your back and backpack.
Yes this might work - I will be experimenting soon with placing a selfie stick in a back pack so avoiding the back bar mount altogether
Thanks for your review. I'm glad I saw it because I was just about to get this set up for my mountain bike videos. Seems like this would be good for hiking but not for the mountain biking I do here in Colorado, Utah, NM, etc... Much of my rides are bumpy and I do alot of jumps and this thing would just move around way too much. Plus, I like to use a hip pack at times instead of back pack, this wouldn't work with a hip pack. I do have a back pack but only use it on big longer rides. The backpack with the selfie bar seems like it wouldn't work for also. I think my best bet would be using the helmet stick so I can see forward and backward and more stabilization.
It does sway around and it’s just too cumbersome - I wouldn’t want to risk it on a motorbike
Would be good to try this with the updated One X 2 and it's newer software. I maybe doing that soon if the backpack mount doesn't go high enough :D
Great video mate. Have you tried it jogging, I suspect the sway might be too much but ot would be interesting to try.
Thanks, I haven’t tried it jogging and you’re right it would just be too big and sway around. You’ll get a lot of strange looks as well 😂
Trying to make a belt like this. Missing the mount piece. Anyone have any ideas on how to find a mount piece that the handle can fit in?
Helpful. Thank you.
Great review!
Simple Green Tech thanks for your comment 👍🏼
I tried out the Back Bar mount while I was rollerblading and the swaying you mentioned can get pretty intense. The selfie stick kept swaying forward and backward, hitting my back repeatedly. The bouncing movement when playing back the recorded footage is quite dizzying. I'm guessing there's nothing that can be done to remedy the swaying visuals?
BestFavorite thanks for the comment. There probably is something you can do in Adobe Premiere but I’d imagine it would be quite time consuming. If you reframe it to a different shot I found that the bounce was more prominent in some shots than others so play around with different angle variations of the same shot.
Maybe try to keep the strap higher around your chest and selfie stick not fully extended?
Thanks for posting. Great video. I was contemplating this accessory since I have been simply sticking my monopod in a backpack while bike riding, or for rock climbing. I have been doing that for several years and it is not a perfect solution either.
Thanks for your comment - funnily enough I’ll be making a video on using your backpack as a cheap alternative- it’s not perfect as you say but you can still get some great shots
@ghine5194 hi ! I am searching for the best option for rock climbing to get a 3rd person view , what do you think of this mount ?
Great video, I want to use this for ocean racing surf ski, do you think it would work under a life jacket?
It would probably work with a life jacket but it’s quite cumbersome and would bounce around a lot out in the ocean. Definitely try it out before using it on a proper race but I think you’ll find it too annoying and distracting.
Thank you. Great review.
Ned Buchman thank you for comment, much appreciated
Can you strap this around your chest instead? So you don't have to lengthen the stick so much to achieve the same height, which will reduce the swaying.
Te Yang that’s a good idea but you’d have to have a small chest and I think it would slip down and be uncomfortable. I think the alternative would be a back pack mount which gives a similar look. Thanks for commenting.
Awesome Review!
Remnant Outreach Ministries TV thanks for your comment 👍🏼
very detailed review
Valentin Negron thanks for your comment
Do you think it would work better if you used the Waist Strap on your bag rather than your back if you prefer riding with a bag? Just out of curiousity. Also, how adjustable is the waist mount in terms of angles?
I think it would move around too much on a bag as you’d have the movement of the bag as well. There’s a lot of movement with the angle of the mount. Thanks for the comment
@@EatSleep360 Thank you for your reply
Thanks champ
So, have you tried it with the 10 foot selfie stick? You'd need taller trees though.
Geek in the Garden ha ha yes I think if I did that I would definitely fall off my bike and hit into a tree. Thanks for commenting
Brilliant
Uhh kereen.bgt kak tpt nya
Thank you! 👍👏
Luftpanorama you’re welcome, thanks for the comment 🙏👍🏼
Would this be any good with a jet ski , ive had so much trouble with finding something to use my Insta360 ONE X2 with
No it would bounce and move around way too much - you could consider a chest mount or the backpack mount. The wrist mount is also brilliant - I have a video on the wrist mount skiing and the backpack mount was put up a couple of weeks ago. The only thing is knocking the camera if you fall off. The new motor bike handle bar mount is solid if you wanted to keep it off of your body. Hope this helps.
@@EatSleep360 thanks man , I will take a look at the wrist mount video 👍
Had this same dilemma which is what brought me to these awesome channel. The bike handle bar mount works just great, as well as the chest mount. Both of these are part of the bike/jet ski bundle. You could also steer your jetski with one hand while you film with your other hand.
Nice video again
TTBok TV thanks, much appreciated
Good morning, i just ordered the insta 360 x3 with this belt seeing your video I wonder if I don't regret... Honestly, are you happy with the images you made?
They really don't look good to me. It wiggles everywhere, the image is distorted.
What did I just do😮
As I said in the video it does bounce around unfortunately- this was made 4 years ago now with the one x which was a lighter camera which helped. I stopped using mine as it was just so big and drew so much attention. I prefer a simple handlebar mount. Send it back if you’re not happy.
Nice & Thanks :)
krishnan srinivasan thanks for the comment much appreciated
You think we could attach this to a backpack and it’ll work for skiing?
FX51 thanks for the comment - it would get in the way on chair lifts and in gondolas and may be a pain to take on and off. My favourite mounts for skiing are the head mount and wrist mount which you can see here ua-cam.com/video/knztGWoEXx0/v-deo.html
Thanks for your reply! Yea im wanting to use farther out shots by attaching the stick to the chest strap and chest strap to a backpack because it seems the back bar strap has less points to grab on to.
FX51 ah I see - yeah a chest strap with selfie stick may work on a back pack - let me know how you get on
Will doooo thanks so much
I wanted this for hiking to get a 3rd person angle but I was greatly saddened that the belt was way too short.
I’m not sure if this has a longer strap ua-cam.com/video/3d20uRiBXCM/v-deo.html - the walking shots do look a bit like a computer game though
@@EatSleep360 that product was plan B, I just didn’t want to need a backpack all the time. I’ll give your video a watch. Maybe if I get out for more hiking videos, the strap on the Back Bar might start to fit me. 🤣
What about with One Wheel use? Have you seen any footage and is it decent? I'm building an order right now, gotta se up my $50 Young Guns voucher award!
I haven’t seen any footage but I’m sure it would work fine - well done for the young guns award
Thanks, I'm trying... So many hobbies and things to do haha. Well I ordered it so we shall see in a week or two.
What length is the stick extended and unextended?
1.2 metres extended and 30cm closed
Just got mine XD make sure you check the weather report before you start your ride ;D
you don’t want to be riding with that in a lightning storm 😂
Eat Sleep 360 indeed, actually I fascinated to film myself on a bike but I don’t think the jerking issue is unavoidable, meantime i saw another video riding on a roller blade is surprisingly smooth. Perhaps it’s similar concept like skiing
@@EatSleep360 Hi mate, after watching your video, want to say thanks. I bought the product and made my version, Im glad to share this with you

there some way cheaper fishing rod belt which might replace this one (like 10 usd)
smitthone yes that sounds like a great option and sooo much cheaper and you will still get that great angle. It would probably still move around a lot though don’t you think? Thanks for commenting 👍🏼
@@EatSleep360 Probably, if you look at the "original" 3pvx2 straight bar from www.sailvideosystem.com they had a couple of straps to reduce oscillation a bit (they will be visible tough, might be worth repolacing them with a transparent fishline wire)
Great
Thanks for your comment

simply dont pull the selfie stick out this high!
i rode it with the stick on my helmet and when you haven‘t a fullface helmet , you have no chance.
This weight on your head affect your riding , thats why i ordered this mount.
I will make some footage the next days👌🏻
I don't think it's suited for off roads, but speed is not an issue. Using it with motorbikes, and totally happy with the results:
ua-cam.com/video/I9mTkCZXJgA/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/9Ozz_LHLsD4/v-deo.html
It's totally cool to shift the waist strap around a bit to get even more changes in the viewing angle (like on the ride with my bigger bike). Also you can see, that the body acts as a damper, camera is rock steady when the bike is hitting potholes and the like.
Is it safe for motorcycle?
RR310 ON STEROIDS thanks for the comment. I wouldn’t risk it on a motorbike, I think they’d be too much drag and bounce. You can get a backpack mount which may be safer as you wouldn’t have to extend it so far. Let me know how you get on.
@@EatSleep360 where can I get a back pack mount sir?
@@muscle__rr sorry I had trouble finding it - it's called a selfie back pack, I haven't used it myself but it looks quite good but not cheap. At least with Amazon you can send it back easily if it's no good. amzn.to/2OMUpOK
@@muscle__rr this one is cheaper and may be better although the reviews are bad amzn.to/2VN7IjG For either of them you'd need a gopro mount adaptor to convert the one x to gopro mount. You may have one already but if not it's here amzn.to/2oFBJFR
@@muscle__rr the other thing to consider is just a super clamp on your handle bars with the selfie stick (short) pointing forward (but be extra careful) - you will get a shot looking back at yourself like the camera is in front of the bike. I did a similar shot on my bike mount video and the selfie stick was only at the shortest length.
Just wish the belt was a little longer to allow for a bit of middle age😂
😂
