Nice video! Lately, I've started using Insta360 cameras on my rides around town with my dog.🚴🐕I managed to mount Insta360 Extended edition selfie stick (300 cm) with the Insta360 X4 over the front wheel of the bicycle using the quick release system. So, I can stop riding the bicycle anywhere, put it on the stand, and continue filming my dog without pausing. Also, I placed the second Insta360 Ace Pro camera on the bicycle seat tube to film what is happening behind me. With this, I covered the area that cannot be recorded by the front camera because of me, because I interfere in the shot. In this way, I can cover literally everything that happens around me while riding a bike, and thus watch all the runs of my dog around me, this way I get great shots suitable for slowing down. I am really excited about both insta360 cameras.
I’d never heard of the insta360 until Friday. Ordered one Saturday. There’s no comparison with GoPro footage. Every problem with my GoPro 7 seems to be resolved with the x3.
Thanks for posting this. Insta360 sent me one of these to test out for cycling and I too think it’s great. Love the camera angle to the side: I will have to start using that one myself.
@@MitchBoyer Thanks Mitch. I also forgot to say thanks also for the tip about editing the 360 footage on the desktop app rather than the mobile one. You’ve got a great channel too.

Great video, question for you! I’ve noticed that when I’m using mine, the whole selfie stick and camera seem to drop (get closer to the ground) every time I hit a small bump no matter how tight I tighten the clamp. Do you have any suggestions? Does this happen to yours?
thanks for the great tips!! one quick question tho.. if you install the mount on your rigjt handle bar, is it stable? just worries cuz i dont want it to fall and get destroyed 😅
The “sharpness” setting is basically extreme micro contrast added to the pixels after capture. Bumping up “sharpness in the camera will not result in any extra detail, but it does create the illusion of detail. You can always add sharpness in later, but once it’s there, it’s difficult to remove and is considered “destructive” to the image. Because of that, you always want to add sharpness at the very end of your image processing. Hope that helps!

Nice helpful vid! We're going to start playing around with something similar for our bike rides. Do you leave the mic running for the whole trip to are you constantly turning the mic off and on along with both cameras off and on?
As long as the ride is less than 5 hrs, I turn on the mic and leave it running the entire time. Above that and I’ve found that the battery tends to run out (DJI Mic)
Wow, excellent review. In my opinion, the motorcycle mount offers a better view than third-Person bike handlebar mount. I'll purchase the motorcycle mount. Thx 😀

Hi Mitch, love your vids, keep it up! I’ve been using the one x2 for quite a while and it’s been great mostly. Just one issue though, when you record in 360mode for a long time (30+ minutes) it splits the files into separate chunks, and you lose about a minute of footage between the files. Does the x3 still have the same problem? Thanks!
Thanks dude! Yeah, it still splits them into chunks. I had the camera on for an 1:20 minute ride and it was split into 3 videos with a bit of a gap between them. Hopefully they do a firmware update in the future that fixes it.
thanks a million for sharing. can you spend some time, or a separate video about how to set it up. e.g. which selfie stick you bought, from where, & how to mount onto your handlebar/seat post. cannot tell from your links of accessories which long stick, or the bike mount you bought. you are more into showing the result of your filming rather than " what specific mounting hardware to buy & how to install on your handlebar or seat post."
Hi! Thanks for watching. I have a video for the Insta360 X2 on my channel that answers a lot of those questions. As for the specific mount, there’s a link in the description. Hope that helps ✌️
@@MitchBoyer I have just tested it, it holds quite well even if you don't tighten it massively. Did you also attach this mount to the seat tube, it also seems to work well. Cheers from Germany
What mount combo are you using at 1:20? Looks like it's fixed to your seatpost rails and then a gopro 2 prong adapter to 1/4" adapter, but how crazy ratcheted down must your tension be to keep it from dipping?
Good eye! It's the GoPro seat clamp, and the Insta360 1/4" adaptor that came in the "Insta360 Bike Kit." The adapter is plastic and soft, so it allows me to clamp down super hard and keep the selfie stick in place. I didn't have any issues with the stick dropping, but the effort was pretty short. It might droop if it was on there for an extended period of time.
I had a generic action cam seat mount I bought off Amazon, but it didn't hold very well (the selfie stick pulled down over time). There's a dedicated seat post mount that I picked up later and it does a much better job. I think its literally called "Insta360 Seat Post Mount"
Curious why you recommend turning the sharpness down to LOW. Thanks for your review and suggestions. I'm learning how to use my new X3 and found your helpful video. 😁
Most likely because the camera will sharpen the footage by itself, which gives you a worse result than sharpening in post on your computer. Most camera’s don’t handle sharpening very well.
Thanks for watching! I'm definitely still a beginner with color grading for video. I edit in DaVinci Resolve and watch a lot Casey Faris and Color Grading Central.

@@MitchBoyer I have just tested it, it holds quite well even if you don't tighten it massively. Did you also attach this mount to the seat tube, it also seems to work well. Cheers from Germany
@@AM-fu9be yep! I used the same mount in my “Steepest Race in the USA” video on the seatpost. Worked well
What mount combo are you using at 1:20? Looks like it's fixed to your seatpost rails and then a gopro 2 prong adapter to 1/4" adapter, but how crazy ratcheted down must your tension be to keep it from dipping?
Good eye! It's the GoPro seat clamp, and the Insta360 1/4" adaptor that came in the "Insta360 Bike Kit." The adapter is plastic and soft, so it allows me to clamp down super hard and keep the selfie stick in place. I didn't have any issues with the stick dropping, but the effort was pretty short. It might droop if it was on there for an extended period of time.
What is the mount used that appears at 1:20, under the seat? Thanks
Same question here
hi so is this camera better than a go pro would you say ?
Each one have their pros and cons. Gopro 10 and 11 are great also. Try buying them and enjoy.
Hey Mitch! What attachment is that mounted to the back of your saddle to the insta360 stick?
I had a generic action cam seat mount I bought off Amazon, but it didn't hold very well (the selfie stick pulled down over time). There's a dedicated seat post mount that I picked up later and it does a much better job. I think its literally called "Insta360 Seat Post Mount"
Is there build in gps in this cameras or must used insta remote control thanks 🙏
No GPS as far as I'm aware
Hi Mitch, thanks for the great inputs. I see that you are using aero handlebars on your bike. How are you mounting the camera for secure gripping?
I use the Insta360 Third-Person Bike Tail Mount on my bars. They also have a handlebar specific mount
Excellent video! I am thinking of starting a UA-cam channel and this video really helped me out a lot. Thanks for the upload.
Glad to hear it helped!
Any suggestions for a starting point to learning color grading? And great overview of the new X3. Looking forward to more vids!!!
Thanks for watching! I'm definitely still a beginner with color grading for video. I edit in DaVinci Resolve and watch a lot Casey Faris and Color Grading Central.
thank you for posting this review, I was looking for it
