      I have been disabled for years now , I know I would not still be here without my craft . I thank my grandmother every day for sharing her love of crafts with me . We spend long hours spinning , weaving, and crocheting, and Knitting. . When I am in pain, Knitting takes my mind off it. Moths are my nightmare , I found an Australian native bushfood soap that hangs in your stash, killing moth

      My fingers literally ache when I crochet because I have fine motor skill issues with my grip and fatigue easily, and stopped crocheting as a result. I couldn't motivate myself to do it anymore. So I decided to teach myself how to knit! Does it hurt? Yes. But it gives my heart so much joy.

    Thank you for sharing your journey with us. As a young person in my early 30's who is disabled and chronically ill, seeing someone talk so openly about their own struggles is so nice to see. I wasn't always so ill, so I've had the difficult process of mourning my health and mourning the fact that things are going downhill fast, and that has been something that has led to some really dark moments for me the past 2 years. I watched this entire video start to finish because I was invested in you and your story and your abundance of passion, warmth, and let's face it - yarn! I'm excited to continue watching your videos and learn a lot more about knitting, which is something I have zero experience in. Maybe one of these days I'll even pick up some knitting needles and give it a go!

      crochet and knitting is (okay, *can be*) very relaxing and mentally stimulating craft. bonus is that you get pretty things in the end
      try it out if it feels fascinating! You can get thicker, acrilic yarn and needles/ crochet hook from local charity shop because people get rid of these regularly
      there are endless tutorials and blogs for everything you can imagine
      I think everyone should try it. It just feels amazing (when you get over first confusion-frustration)

I've never been much of a sweater maker, but the 1940s patterns are WHAT I LOVE. You are such a skilled artesian, I love your work and your personality. You are a joy to watch and I love your drive to keep pushing forward, I admire that. I also just recently discovered we are the same age!! That was very exciting for me for some reason lol. Thank you for making this! It's exactly what I've been looking for. I like to have my creatives on while I work on my fiber arts. With the individual shorter episodes, YT chooses what I watch next, and it's usually wrong. That interrupts my flow and I spend 5-15 mins trying to find my next thing. This is comforting and much less interruptive.

And then my sister-in-law gave me the entirety of her yarn stash when she decided she was done crafting. So I'm currently working my way through a mountain of fiber. I have over 1300 yarns listed on ravelry….and if i counted the balls….theres a lot . Love your podcast. As a disabled knitter, in constant, pain, knitting has saved me. I dont know what i would do with knitting, knitting community and knitting podcasts.

    That thumbnail gives me anxiety! All that stuff on the bed that you’d have to put away before you can lie down… this is a mistake I’ve made in my own life far too many times. I still do it twice a year when swapping my summer and winter clothes, and I regret it halfway through every time.
    But anyway, how neat that all the videos are truly in one place now! I bet this compilation video took a small eternity for you to export and upload, haha.

    • @RetroClaude
      @RetroClaude  11 місяців тому +6

      I promise it's not as bad as the thumbnail makes out 😅 the plastic boxes I use to store everything are hidden under the knits. Once finished I just had to shove everything back in the boxes and slide them under the bed. And yes the export took 3 attempts and a solid 25 hrs to finally export 🤣

    Your stash busting keeps on inspiring me.
    I found a random black silk/cashmere sock yarn ball in my stash, way too fancy for footwear.
    Your idea to knit things that will fill gaps in my existing wardrobe instead of knitting randomly because it's cool is revolutionary to me😂
    I realised I could do with a simple black shawlet or scarf, so I found a nice suitable pattern on ravelry.
