you don't understand how much I love these long long compilations, I'm obsessed. this will be the secondary entertainment for my weekend knitting in bed while dealing with cramps. I discovered your channel through the latest 6h compilation and I'm very happy about that! love hearing you talk so passionately about your specific knitting interests. wishing you all the best ❤
When I found your channel about 2 years ago I bulk watched all your videos, but you bet I'm also watching these compilations! It's so wonderful to see a fellow disabled person passionate about similar things as me ❤
Yes, these long compilation videos are fascinating and have brought me great comfort in the last 24 hrs as I am sick and very sad about it. Thank you xxx
Watching the first video in this compilation (the 2020 knitting recap) is making me feel nostalgic, as it's the very first video I saw from your channel. I had barely started knitting at the time and just today I bought my first skeins of pricey hand-dyed 100& wool yarn. How time flies.
While I (a hard of hearing person) really value the custom captions, the auto captions aren't too terrible. So don't feel too guilty about glitches. I'm sure it'll all get sorted out soon. UA-cam isn't the most friendly place (I don't understand why auto closed captions are disabled for so many videos!)
the compilations bring me peace. I watch/listen while I play my videogame or while I'm knitting a baby blanket for a friend. Thank you for going ahead and giving us hours of videos together! Love to see everything all together
Absolutely LOVE having you as a knitting buddy! It's especially nice because I don't like talking much and the nature of the videos is you chatting away at me, it's so comforting, thank you so much for compiling the videos together, it's great!
Oooh this is fantastic! Your stash busting compilation inspired me to take stock myself and uh... I think I'll be busy for the next 20 years (50kg of yarn identified, oops).
I love these super long videos! I can put one on and get on with my sewing, and I dont have to break my concentration, and I can get so much done. Thank you for putting these out. They are perfect to sew along to. ❤❤❤❤
I am an excellent crocheter and cross stitcher. I can crochet and cross stitch anything, but for the life of me I dont get knitting, I just can't do it though I've tried many times! Seeing your videos made me want to try again and again till I manage! I know it will take years of practice to just do a fraction of what you are doing, but maybe one day I manage. I love your videos!!! Also if you like to be challenged in crochet try to make a CAL blanket, like Sophie's universe in ravelry (free). You will really learn a lot.
Been watching the stash busting one for a few days. Finished the last bit today. Thought I'd have to wait forever for another one. (First time viewer) So excited there's a new post.
Okay, so I'm back from a week-long trip to Florida to visit my mom and sitting at my desk at work needing a push to get things underway. And this pops up on my feed. You know how I love to listen to your videos while I'm working, so thank you very much for my motivation today (and my boss will thank you as well)!
In the background for household chores and vintage embroidery breaks. 🌈🌈🦋🦋 My Nana is the one who taught me to knit (and crochet)…the “the thumb” method is also my preferred method. She was born in 1912.
Yay! Loving these compilations and now I can do a whole 10.5 hours of Claude-knits! 🥳 I was working on my Spock Socks on a rainy Saturday afternoon while watching. 💜
I turn off adblock just for you and listen while I'm working. :) I'm glad you're making these long compilations, it's fun to look back at what you've worked on before and be like oh I remember that! hehe
Another great compilation to watch while knitting! To be honest I also watched part of it before bed because I couldn't fall asleep, but now I'm knitting socks for my husband, the first project in my life on such small needles, the smallest I got before was 3.5 mm and they're on 2.5 mm, I know it's not exactly the smallest for socks, but my eyesight isn't that good even with glasses, I think it's time to change them 😂
Perfect! I was hoping for another compilation video to watch while I finish up my pair of socks that I've been working on in my free time. Your timing is impeccable :)
Thank you for posting your videos. I only found your channel a few weeks ago, but it already is one of my favorites. Apart from the inspiration I get from all the projects you do, it is also really relaxing listening to you talking about your work.
I already love your stash busting compilation, so I’m excited for this! Yay! I rewatch all your videos again and again so this is great. I hope these formats help you to grow your channel. Also, the stockings are incredible, I couldn’t dream of making anything with 2ply at the moment, let alone that complicated! I love seeing all your vintage knits so much.
I'm not a vintage knitter but in Australia we have 3ply yarn at bendigo woolen mills (although it is on the other side of the world and probably expensive to ship), I always wonder if that would be a good fit for vintage patterns. If I ever tackle one of the vintage projects in my favourites list I'll probably try it out 😅
Their Luxury line (the softer option) only comes in white and off-white as 3 ply, but I made a tshirt with it and dyed it purple, and it was great! I'm going to do it a few more times. I really like their yarn for having a little bit of bite while still somehow being machine washable. I'm disabled and chronically ill too, and I can't really hand wash anything. Superwash has its charms for me, but it's nice to have BWM as an option that provides a bit of grip. Also they're way cheaper than the alternatives. I'm sadly allergic to their Classic line though (it made me cough), which is weird because I don't react to any other wools, only mohair.
I watched your last video over the course of the week while studying, was just looking for something else to study to and saw you posted a new one, I'm so excited!
Your Elizabeth Woodville cardigan started my love of all Alice Starmore patterns. I'm hoping to knit the Catherine Howard cardigan this year. If I succeed I will tag you 😊. I've found that Debbie Bliss fine Donegal from love crafts seems to match the gauge without a super high itch factor. I got on sale so it was a really good price. I'll let you know if it works 😊
Into the chronological playlist it goes! ua-cam.com/play/PLfEU046kSCXbS0pOD-m3ApThqvyQpkSxi.html for everyone's use, it now has 44 hours 59 minutes and 26 seconds of Claude :D
There's one 3ply yarn that I know of, Rosita by a german brand called Fischer Wolle. It has 275m per 50 gr but they only sell it on 250gr spools. It comes in 4 solids and 1 rainbow color and is reasonably priced. It isn't the softest wool, but if you can wear non superwash, you probably won't have any problems wearing it.
The "Jawoll" lang yarn is a German pun. It is a shout of excitement and approval, short for "ja, wohl" meaning something like "yes, good". But... "woll-" as in Wollpullover means "made out of wool".
Your stashbusting compilation brought me to your channel and inspired me to wrangle with my own stash! Can’t wait to sit down with this video and knit 💖
I'm so happy for you, the last very long video of your stash busting challenge is doing so well! 🎉 hopefully it helps you being able to keep making these videos and follow your inspiration 😊❤
What I coincidence! The algorithm suggested this video which I'm watching while finishing up my capulet blouse and starting a tudor rose (Margaret tudor, I'm equal parts excited and nervous to take on a sweater knit in 10 panels!)
Hi Claude, Thanks for your videos. The long ones are great to sit back and watch while I complete other projects, sewing, crochet, embroidery but for the life of my I can't knit. :O I keep trying though, in the hopes that one day it will just click.
Another thing too (sorry about this) at around 52:00 the audio is desynced with the video, I do lip read a lot so I find it a touch disorientating. It might be because this is such a long video, which does make it harder to edit
For the steeking you are doing a U.S. slip stitch rather than a single crochet. Maybe that is why it was not stable enough? Love the sweater with the blue flowers.
Inadvertently watched the whole thing in one go because the weather is being evil to me, but at least I got some nice company for a while and managed to put several inches on the socks I'm making (they're nalbinding not knitting, but it's close enough).
I found my yarn theirs a wip blanket but I got 3 skains of red heart supper saver speckles one in pink and 2 in light blue. I want to get a pair of circle knitting needles to try and teach myself how to knit. I'm wanting Circle needles because regular knitting needles I try and knit stitches come off and I have to unravel everything and try and knitting all over again
When you say "three-ply" you are referring to the yarn weight, correct? Not how many strands make up the yarn? Super enjoyable, as always. It is a treat to put this on and hang out and get inspired. Thank you!! eta: I went back and rewatched your "So many swatches!" video and see the vintage yarn you mention you wanted was both 3-ply in terms of weight, and three stranded.. The equivalent weight yarns are not necessarily three-stranded, might be two or four, and were less tightly spun than vintage 3-ply. So interesting!
Question for the more experienced knitters (if anyone's even going to read this message haha) wouldn't it be possible to quick-fix a too-big sewn-up sweater by undoing the side seams and moving them inwards a little? (Re: the patchwork jumper at the very end) I understand that ripping back and fixing is the best option, but I feel like redoing the sewing can help a lot more and a lot quicker...
Yes that could work as a quick fix. I intentionally chain stich seams so they're quick and easy to undo and adjust as needed as our bodies change and that's OK. The old seams could even be left in place and new ones placed where needed to the inside. The seams might have a bit of bulk to them.
Ive been thinking "who!?" You must be the expert to ask about fitting knitting top/sweater etc. Most patterns are straight, and that makes me look like a little block (154cm). Anything from darts or on side is fine. My waistline is not tiny, but waist technique to apply to designs without. 🎉 I Hope you can help Thanks
I’ve knit 3 patterns from Fabelknitwear and all of them fit horribly and I’ve had to get the sewing machine out and one I unfortunately threw out. So devastating. I love her patterns but I can’t handle the heartbreak anymore.
This is so relaxing and soothing, thank you! I recently made an English-speaking episode on my knitting podcast and I have troubles finding the international audience. Please help me out 🙏♥️

excellent! I watched your stash busting video in one sitting last week and this is going to be the perfect post-midterm break!
Oh yay! Perfect timing!
Same. I've always binged watched the stashbusting videos previously, so having the compilation is a joy
"omg this is long" at 30 mins into a 4.5 hour compilation, past retroclaude had no idea 😂
Hahahaha 😂 I know!!

UPS😊 stash busting 😂😅

Hooray. I love complication videos for body doubling my boring cleaning chores. lol
Right?! Me, too!
Good idea!
Been watching the stash busting one for a few days. Finished the last bit today. Thought I'd have to wait forever for another one. (First time viewer) So excited there's a new post.
Also, it was interesting to "watch your hair grow". 😂❤

Einfach adorable wie du ab 3 Stunden und 56 Minuten einfach auf deutsch zählst 🥰
I turn off adblock just for you and listen while I'm working. :) I'm glad you're making these long compilations, it's fun to look back at what you've worked on before and be like oh I remember that! hehe
I love these long videos about your knitting. I also love hearing you talk about the historical patterns too.

What a beautiful beautiful colour work jumper 😍

Love this video, thank you!
I love these compilation videos.
Ahh! This is such a perfect video for me to clean my flat! like listening to a friend sending ungodly long audios (I enjoy them I promise hahaha)
Congratulations on winning the yarn chicken with that green wool! (the one at the 2 hour14 minute mark)

oh I love that rizzo top, I definitely want to make one of those soon!
thank you for always sharing the pattern names~
Thanks for this compliation Claud, they are getting quite adictive! Hope it is making you dosh too! I look forward to starting my next marathon now.
Lol. Washing machine disclaimer killed me😂😂😂😂😂😂
Excited to watch this later
I think I’m gonna try knitting a sock. Have I ever knit before? No. Is it sock season? Also no.
Beautiful work. Congratulations.
Loving the long videos. Good to fall asleep to!

Hello Claude & algorithm
Did anyone ever tell you, you look very "Kristin Scott Thomas" in that short haircut? It's a lovely look. :-D
Great work, thanks

Super enjoyable, as always. It is a treat to put this on and hang out and get inspired. Thank you!!

Do you still have the cardi 🤔🙈
I cant remember if i asked already. Advice for making more shaping to sweaters?
