    Hi team! Just to let you know that if you're wondering why the music gets weird at 6:00 and 8:18 it's because I got copyright claimed for a recording published in 1930 that's been public domain for 22 years. I put silly UA-cam Library music in because I'm petty and really bitter about it. You have to laugh or else you cry I guess.

      why are you giving out wrong information? 3mm and 3.5mm circulars and DPNs are available in the UK. I am currently using 3mm circulars for 2x2 rib of the in the round fair isle cowl i'm knitting. I have a DK weight sock on my 3.5mm DPNs. I am in Scotland.

      tbh, at this point I'd say the status of my yarn stash is STABLE as in "stash acquired beyond life expectence" but I'm trying to not be too hard on myself as much of the stash has been inherited from other knitters who have already passed on and yarn doesn't really expire, so if it outlasts me I'm sure someone will find uses for it : )

      I'm pretty sure the math is not quite right. Because 5.5*12 Months is 66 balls a year. And 180: 66 is less than 3 (years)

    I love my interchangeable needle set. I always have the right size and length of needle. It's a bit of an investment all at once but has been totally worth it for me. I'm really enjoying seeing your stashbusting adventure. There's something very satisfying about pairing up yarn and patterns from stash and coming up with ideas you may not have ever discovered otherwise.

    • @Skunk0nFire
      @Skunk0nFire Рік тому +7

      Yes I found that once you consider how much it would cost to buy every single circular needle length & size, you'd be spending 3-4x what the interchangeable circular needle set costs! Plus it's a real space saver, the entire set just lives in this neat little book-sized zippered case that can be neatly tucked away on a shelf rather than taking up all the space that a load of fixed circular needles do

    • @starsun6363
      @starsun6363 Рік тому

      That's what I'm planning on doing once I grit myself to buy a circular set of needles. The price surprised me, I must admit, but it would absolutely be cheaper and a much much better investment of my money.

      My husband bought me a set for my birthday. I was a bit choked when I found out how much it cost, but it has given me so much flexibility with yarn weights, gauge, and project size. I’ve used them so much already I think it was worth it.

    As a canadian, I've seen some pretty wacky toque silhouettes, yet somehow, someone always manages to "pull it off". I think it usually comes down to a. Comfort (does it stay on your head and is it cozy--this supersedes any practicality or impracticality) and b. Confidence ("this is how it's suppose to look, you're the odd one out for thinking it looks like a nipple on my head!") XD

But in a lot of colder places in the world (my wife is in Finland, I'm moving there soon) you just have to go with whatever's going to work to save you from frostbite! And so it makes sense that that's a Finnish beanie pattern :D

      Same. For my new years resolution last year I wanted to reduce my stash by 80%. My stash GREW by 30% D:
      Starting this year I decided to reduce my goal to a reduction of 70% but the main difference I made was that I created some monthly goals for myself to reach my overall goal to make it more aachieable :)
      I started with a total of 137 balls (I'm counting per ball regardless of size, cus they all kinda average out to 100g each anyhow). So that's 96 to consume. So far I've eaten 2 balls this year, I've worked out I need to munch 2/week. Wish me luck :)

    FYI We do have 3mm in the UK. You can get them from Addi Sharps (they're my favourite circular needles cus 1) the cable is really flexible so it's not as annoying as some circulars and 2) they have sharp tips which makes them easier to squeeze into tiny stitches if you need to). Another option is KnitPro as well. I tend to like them for straight needles because they're all various bright colours which I find quite pleasing. In saying all of that I exclusively knit with metal because I'm less of a fan of wood or plastic.
    TLDR: We do have 3mm in the UK, you just gotta know where to look :)

      Yes, I was going to mention this too. The last cardboard cone I weighed was 27.6g. I tend to cake up the yarn off the cone because I find it's easier to store and carry about and you can just wind off the amount you need for a project.

      Also was about to comment this. :-) The conical cardboard ones in most of the cone yarn I got from work were all around 45 g, and yes, the comparable plastic ones were heavier.

    Loved seeing all your makes. The hat - I often have to make hats less tall than the pattern suggests they should be or I get the same effect as you did.
    The socks are lovely. Maybe you could keep them as slipper socks?

    How wonderfully productive you are! And I love that your stash-busting items don't look like they're made out of odds & ends (although I love a rag-bag cardi as well, but you don't need a whole wardrobe like that); your quality is so fine. Regarding extraneous noise, I live next to a hospital, & two helicopters landed during your video, so I felt at one with your battle there! I hope you've had good health in August, & look forward to the next installment. Best wishes from Czechia!

    Claude- I enjoy all of your videos. They are as charming as you are! Thank you for sharing.
    You have inspired me and I’ve begun knitting from my too large stash. I’ve made two hats so far and plan to make the Ghost Whisperer
    Sweater. Sadly, I won’t look nearly as good in it as you do but I believe it will at least look okay on me.
    Thank you again for letting us get to know you and your fun projects.

    You did great in terms of production knitting. I too used to have issues never having the size needle required so I broke down and purchased a circular interchangeable set. Very pleased. Jumpers and cardigans would take up plenty of yarn. As would weaving. A small rigid heddle loom would use that 2 ply cone yarn which is really for weaving. But that is for another time once you go down that weaving route. Sigh. But uses up yarn incredibly fast. Hang in there. You are doing great. An inspiration.

    Oh that shawl!!! 😍 All of the makes are gorgeous. Try rolling the rim of the beanie up twice. That will give you the more Scandinavian wide brim and help to stop your head 'looking like an egg', as you say. Personally, I think it looks great on you, especially with the jumper.

    I love how your version of Tarra came out with those lovely Autumnal colours! I made mine in silver grey, blues and a heathery purple and I made exactly the same mistake on that decrease row as you did and had to rip out! I just finished mine a few days ago. I have the same issues with hats as you do, I tend to mostly make beanies, as I don't like the garden gnome look that seems to be very fashionable right now, maybe I just need to make a few different styles and see what works.
