If you never saw Doug Kershaw in concert, you have absolutely NO IDEA what you've missed!!! BEST fiddle player ever & a great guy, too!!! Met him at the Minnesota State Fair & saw him 3 other times. NEVER disappointed!!! 😁
I was a big fan of his in early 70s. In about 1979 or 80 he came to Kansas City to perform at the summer Music in the Parks program.my husband & I took our two kids & lawn chairs. He was performing in the small deck of a little travel trailer (of course being Doug Kershaw I'm sure he Cajun danced on & off of it the whole program). Can't tell you how many fiddle strings that wild Cajun broke but music was super from the first link of the bow to the last Cajun yell! I'm now 83 & still watch his videos on my phone. What an entertainer!!! Thank you Doug for all the years of happiness you brought!
Saw him in Lake Elsinore California, on the 4th of July in the early 80's. It was over 100 degrees out. I sweated all my makeup off, my shirt was wet, but I went up and told him I wouldn't have put up with the heat for anybody but him. I didn't know he was going to perform or I would have brought my three albums for him to sign. He was very gracious.

I grew up in Gueydan, Louisiana in the 50s-60s. Rusty and Doug Kershaw were on the radio allthe time. They were from a really small place called teal ridge La. My grand ma said we were cousins, never proven, but I'll never doubt my grand ma. Louisiana Man is my fave.
Grew up in Natchez, Ms. On the Mississippi river bluff overlooking the lower Louisiana side. The whole area steeped in history, cajun cuisine, music and the blues. Honestly I don't remember all the legendary performers I've seen especially after I moved to Texas. "This song" makes me get up and dance! Doug Kershaw burns it down ❤ What could be any better?
To this day, Doug Kershaw remains largely underappreciated as a songwriter, fiddler (among many other instruments), and in overall coolness. Amazing performer.

I think back in 1968? On the Johnny Cash show, when Doug Kershaw, appeared as a guest, Johnny Cash, (whom I was also VERY FORTUITOUS), to meet, said that Doug Kershaw, was a virtuoso, of twenty eight, other instruments. To include the guitar, concertina, mandolin, the autoharp the dobro, and others, but the fiddle was his favorite instrument.

This is just amazing. What a performer! Doug is amazing! In my books he's one of the best fiddlers who ever lived
Wow ... We need a Doug Kershaw in Canada, liven up this place! Ontario Canada
Lived in New Orleans in the early '70's. (Attended Tulane Law School) That's when and where I first heard Doug Keyshawn sing and play. Man lights up a room like nobody else can!
Love the way he sings and plays the fiddle! What a showman!
My dad bought my mom a Doug Kershaw album in the early 1970’s. My sister and I were young teens but we loved it too

Used to see Doug a lot when I lived in Nashville. He's quite the showman.
Bless you Doug for all the joy you have brought through your music hope you never stop
It is so good - it brings me to tears ... wished I could see him live in US
Great fun music ! If this isn't the Louisiana state song, it ought to be !!
He breaks every violin rule out there and yet I love every second of it! 🤣
Hey Buddies!!! It's amazing!!! Found your self with this sort of heroes!!!
It’s been a lot ago but I’m 80 years old and it still hurts to hear this and make makes me cry
I love this man he is fantastic so talented and so gifted and I am from Stockton California. A place where most people know nothing about this type of music. I would love it if Doug would perform here
Love Mr. Kershaw! Such energy.
I saw Doug Kershaw at California's Magic Mountain back in 1972. I think he went through 2 or 3 bows.....horse hair was a flying everywhere. I LOVED his high energy performance......Russell D.
The good lord sure blessed you with the gift of music Thanks for sharing I am learning the fiddle as we speak and one day hope to be able to play this song :-)
You go, Dude. And lots of success in your accomplishment.

Good song to end my day with! Years ago we got to actually meet Doug at a Golf Tournament in town. When I was little we used to see him on a TV show so I was so thrilled.to get to talk to him and get my picture taken with him! That meeting was very special to me. He was so nice.
2023 he's still playing!
I hope so
I remember him. Always liked him. thanks
I first saw Doug Kershaw on the Johhny Cash tv show back in the late 60's and decided he was about the best performer I had ever seen. I love this guy and he seems to be ageless. What energy and what a treasure!
Omg Canada certainly lost out on you guys. 💚
I know a lot of you will think I am crazy, but if I could go back in time to see one performer in their prime again, it would be Doug Kershaw
theres nothing crazy about that
its totally sane
that guy is the alltime champ of expressing the joy of life through music
he was and is fucking awesome
you are right on the money
Trust me - you would. I was able to. I'm a massive Schenker fan - but I really appreciate how he is *now*. Have loved Doug all the years...
As far as I am concerned, Doug Kershaw never left his prime. Doug’s music is just as relevant today as it was way back then.
agreed
The best in a league of his own loved this xo
I met him when he was playing in New York and he invited us back to his trailer! Best fiddle player ever!
Susan McClelland I don't know about the best ever, but he's totally infectious (his personality as well as his music)!
Love this music! It came from Ireland.
Also france
Thank you for posting this wonderful video the song was always a fav of mine when by u.k country acts in the mid 1980's as much as I loved it live I still loved the Jimmy C Newman version but this beats it all. Doug has so much life and energy which is the epitomy of all cajun music stands for. I wish so much I'd ever had the chance to see him live but this is the next best thing.
I remember when I was a little boy (am almost 50 now) my grandfather would just go crazy singing and dancing to Doug Kershaw. Was the happiest I ever seen him before his death while I was in Desert Storm. Thanks for the great memories
Saw him a lifetime ago in Atlanta ....... totally awesome!!!
Saw him at sportatorium, in Dallas. Set place on fire.
Love his fiddle playing and showmanship on Diggy Diggy Lo!
I saw Doug Kershaw at winterland SF opening for the airplane? 20 ft away never forget it he blew the house down
I saw him once. Amazing energy and talent!
I remember decades ago watching Doug on the Mike Douglas Show. He was so unique. How could you not be happy with this music?
