This man is amazing! His voice sounds the same as 30 yrs ago. Goes to show if you love what you do, take care of your health and in this case his voice. He is a music blessing. My entire family just loves this man!
My man, Doug Kershaw tearing up that stage, I just love him!! He is fantastic here, and he’s definitely a Ragin Cajun!❤❤ He rips that File Gumbo up, loved Kershaw since I was 15, saw him 1st on American Bandstand in 1970, huge fan ever since. I love his fiddling, he’s probably my favorite fiddle player of all time, I played violin, as a child and later took fiddle lessons, because of Doug Kershaw.
I remember my mother, Floraine Antoinette Leaman Alba, would rock me to bed with the encouraging Cajun words "Fe do do, Lawrence..mon chere." Those were the best times of my life in Monroe, Louisiana c. 1949. Now, at 70 and a lifetime if education, world traveling and much expunged Cajun heritage, I take comfort in this vibrant, rich original American music and it's magical linguistic resilience. Etois!
Saw this guy--- and even got to learn from him!--- this summer at a fiddle camp. At age 70, he's still just as crazy as he ever was, and so inspiring to watch. Couldn't help but burst out laughing from joy and move my feet. My dad's been a professional fiddle player for 30+ years and still had to work to keep up in Kershaw's classes. So much talent!
On a CMA show years ago Doug performed as he walked down the aisle to the stage. By the time he reached the stage nearly every person in the audience (including the stars) were on their feet either dancing or at least NOT standing still.
WOW, First time I seen him Was on TV (circa 1960's). Ulgier than a mud fence in a bright green velvet suit) but DAMN COULD HE PLAY THAT FIDDLE! Got his albums
I love it. Notice about the 1:42 mark when Doug looks back at his son on drums. Doug knows he's wearing those drums out. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing it.
Oh Man, Uglier than a train wreck but man he tears that stage up! Are you sure he,s in his 80s? My whole family loves him. I first learned of Mr Kershaw I think 1970? He and Jo El Sonnier are Cajun Music incarnate!

I like where a radio announcer said, "I understand you play 28 musical instruments". To which Doug replied no, I now play 29 for I just learned how to play the jazzoo". What a sense of humor. I have seen him play 6 different ones on stage, so am impressed by his ability.

Doug wore out bows on nearly every song he played. He always had a barrel of bows on stage by him too so he could grab a new 1 when needed. I was able to see him 2 different times.

I've had a mad crush on this man since I was 13yrs old! He was also responsible for me falling in love with Cajun and zydeco music.

He's 85 and still at it! 💗
This man is amazing! His voice sounds the same as 30 yrs ago. Goes to show if you love what you do, take care of your health and in this case his voice. He is a music blessing. My entire family just loves this man!
He went through a long period of definitely not taking care of his health but then he righted the ship so to speak and he's been good ever since.

back in 1959 and 1960 the first country song I ever heard was Louisiana Man by Doug and Rusty, and I was hocked on country for ever.
It's probably been 40 years since I saw him play in Santa Cruz, CA....and he still sounds the same and lookin good!
One of the best of Cajun performers
I remember my mother, Floraine Antoinette Leaman Alba, would rock me to bed with the encouraging Cajun words "Fe do do, Lawrence..mon chere." I still ain't never figured out how he could bow that fiddle the way he does, jumping around all crazy. Geez!
