- This is the 120th video on the 1961 VW Beetle with 65 pan. In this video I install the door rubber kits and the window roller mechanisms on both doors. I also get the wing windows working and prepare for the jute padding on the inside ceiling.

Great video, great content! I'm on my first restoration of a 64 VW Sedan and went all out w/body off works. Beings it was my first I keep thinking I want to do it all over again, after learning a bit more about the mechanics of restoring a VW bug! Working under a carport is my garage, and the weather is a factor here in the midwest. Both challenging and rewarding is a project of this type, and yes, I would do it all over again!
Yeah - I totally agree - the thing is when you do something the first time you are learning (as I am here on this bug) and then you know what you are doing the second time, but to get a second try, you have to do a second bug! Or just redo the first I suppose…
I hear you, this old Bug they never was a perfect Car you did a great job, the beauty of this cars are the little imperfections I have a Beetle 1964 so this car teaches you lots of patience keep it up
Thanks! I love driving the bug because it is light, has a lot of power and steers like it is on rails. It is simple like a lawnmower. So good…
My window scrapers need replacement too, they are petrified and starting to break off just not on my to do list yet. Baby powder I hear works well and last longer, apply with a small paint brush.
Ok, I will try the baby powder…
I used baby powder on the window and scrapper so it doesn’t fold when you roll the window down.
Oh baby powder! Great idea - I’ll give that a try…. First I gotta buy some baby powder…
@@LarsonSplitBus- get the travel size, a little goes a long way
Great job on doors window seals! I hope you can work out the issues with the scrapers folding. Otherwise looks great!👌😎👍
I was told to use baby powder - so I’ll try that…
I really enjoy your videos!!!! I WAS wondering if you are retired military? You got that look and I just assumed that you got more time than most of us when building these vehicles.
Not retired military - I am a computer geek - and I alternate doing computer stuff and some work in the garage…
I can’t get the interior window scrapers installed to save my life! I hate this part the most!
I made a special tool for those little clips - I took a medium sized screwdriver, bent it so it would fit well in the window slot, and ground down the screwdriver end to be narrower and Y shaped so I could push in each clip with some force. I agree - this is a huge pain….
Yeah I gotta replace my seals. Somebody shot my window out last night.
Oh boy - yeah - sounds like you need a new window too!
Still need to buy my outer scrapers ...they're like £140 over here..stupid money. Thing is me metal trim is OK but rubber seal is shot..but looks like you can't buy 5he rubbers alone...makes no sense to me
The Brazilian ones were reasonable - I bought the whole kit just to make sure I didn’t forget anything - and that worked out really well…
Silicone spray on seals and window.
Ok I ordered silicone spray - I have been getting by with spray lithium grease, WD-40 and spray soap and water…
So when I say my rubbers are shot I mean perished not shot like Corey pints.
Ha - I thought your windows got shot out like old west style :)
@@LarsonSplitBus- ha ha! Yeahaw...looks like I'll have to bite the bullet...no pun intended! And buy new trim....looks great though...
