It's always a good idea to take it all down. When you have that little voice always listen. I had Hirth 300 that felt great but I said I might as well and I'm glad I did it looked like your engine inside . Great vid. Thanks Matt.
If I just wanted to run around the yard a few time, it wouldn't really matter, but I like taking them apart if I want to have any chance at reliability in a vintage run... This video is proof that its worth it!!! Thanks for the comment. Take care!
I actually filmed most of this last year when I made the other ones. I will be putting a few more out this season on that sled. My hope is to get it running this season.... We'll see!
i just felt in the vintage snomobile world since i got a 1972 247cc elan for free this winter was looking to learn about them ... and i found that channel the vintage show and the mechanic video are sick ! and made in quebec so that a + keep the video coming !!
As is the theme here, I didn’t take one engine down, and now have paid the price. Thanks for taking us along and for showing how to do it right.. As always great film work and behind the scenes work.
I’m glad that you posted this because I also have a 370 that has never run right, and I have gone through every carb trick and timing setup imaginable. I’m wondering now if I don’t have a bad bearing taking out the seals. Both seals have been replaced but it still acts like it has a bad one. Hunts up and down and is difficult to tune.
Yeah, can be all kinds of stuff… bad coil, bad plug, a wire thats is grounding inside the engine, point/condensor, carb problem, bad base gasket and yes, bad seals! Good luck! Thanks for watching!
Once again very happy to find a new video to watch love your stuff. That ole girl will benefit from new bearings. Now,. will you go to a local bearing shop to see about a replacement set or do you already have some new old stock ones on hand?
I have everything in stock at my shop. I have some NOS and some new bearings, seals gaskets to choose from! I have been stocking up for the past 3 years!!!
Ohhh man ! You are so lucky the crankpin bearings are not rusted. Just replacing the main bearings is an easy job. But replacing the crankpin bearing would cost several hundred bucks. Don't ask me how I know. 😮💨

Not yet… Its been about 80% done for the past 3 weeks, but I have not had any time to finish editing… I currently have 3 videos worth of content filmed, but editing is what takes the most time. I hope to have it up in a week or two. Take care!!!
that's what I thought,.. sometimes I look but cannot find various part 2 or 3 or 4 of someone's series that's why I asked. Take care my friend. JeffinMaine@@mattsws

Yep!
I'm not surprised that Ski-Doo only stuck with this engine design for 3 years.
Yeah, it wasn’t a very good engine… Thanks for watching!

Your crank bearings look exactly as bad as I expected! You could hear the growl when cranking it it the first video!
I had the same feeling! Thats why I wanted to tear it apart before trying to use it….
