- The title sorta says it all...
SPOILER ALERT! Keep reading if you want to know what the engine is!!!
I ended up buying a complete Rotax 245 RV motor off a complete stranger from another country ONLINE... It's the engine from a 1976 Skidoo Tnt RV 250. I was quite excited to get my hand on a complete 250 engine because they are relatively hard to find. Upon first inspection the vintage Rotax appeared to be complete with dual Mikuni carbs, Polar fire (Bosch) CDI ignition, wiring harness, belt, clutch and recoil.
The rare 245cc twin cylinder free air engine appears to be in quite good condition, except for the fact that the rotary valve was jamming at half revolution. Removing the cover solved the issue and further repair will be require. The pistons looked new, so a complete overhaul will not be likely, but a teardown, cleaning and gasket replacement will be next for this Rotax. The crank seals will also be replaced.
If you enjoy old vintage race sleds, dIY projects, mechanics, repairs and working on old junk, you have come to the right place. I hope you enjoy this video! - Авто та транспорт
Happy New Year Matt. Great video.
Happy New Year to you too!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Awesome video Matt.Looking forward to your build.Ive got a 340 that I hope to get running .
Glad you enjoyed! I’m looking forward to getting this one running. Take care!
great to see you posting again Matt. A friend of mine was always showing up in the neighborhood with the newest hottest Ski Doo's one was a 340 R/V CC I think that meant 340 rotary valve Cross Country. Man, that thing was fast then his dad bought the 9500 Blizard now that was unreal.. JeffinMaine
I think all the RV CC's were liquid cooled sleds. The 77 was the most powerful, then in 1978 (or 79) they added a HP limit in the CC class and the 340 in those sleds was a tuned down version of the trail sleds... At least that is what I remember someone telling me a while ago. Thanks for watching!!!!
Peter Parker is also Spiderman. You bought an engine from Spiderman !!!! That's so cool !!
I sure did!!!
Peter Parker from Kansas thank you soo much for the shout out I did not have spark plugs for it I'm sorry and the carbs were cleaned by me
Thanks again!
No problem glad I could help someone in need for a good price that's what's its all about
I like it.Hope you can get it running.
Thanks! Me too!!!
That is a very unique engine!
Sure is!!!! Thanks for watching!!!

You too! Thanks for watching!
Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed!!!
Great video my friend, looking forward to seeing you getting it running. What sled are you going to put it on?
I am probably going to put it in a spare 1975 245 RV chassis I have lying around.... Shhhh, it's a secret for now! LOL!
rotax can tell by the clutch
Sure is! Thanks for watching!!!
I thought it would be a damaged crankpin. Fortunately, I was wrong !
Very fortunately for me!!!! Thanks for watching!!
Un 250 rotary valve avec CDI en 76 ...Wow !
Oui!
I love my arctic cats I like older ski doo but then older ski doo engines always had an issue the Moto ski I had with was part of bombardiar it was like the racing style engine daul carbs an pipes but never could get her to run an evrything was good . Ended up scraping that sled . Also had a 377 that thing was fast but never ran good for few rides it was always haas issues so I got into arctic cats them older Kawasaki 340 440 which were in older arctic cats now those ran great an easy to keep running then they switched to Suzuki engines an those were very reliable had few jag 340s and 440. Cheetah s and zr modles. I really loved my vintage jag 340 that had the air cooled hood style an had a Suzuki air cooled 500cc engine in her . Not fan cooled but air cooled were the top end of the engine stuck out the hood so air can flow threw the fins . An that thing would do 100mph easy an that’s fast for a vintage sled it would keep up with the newer zr modles till about 70mph then the zr would pull becouse they had bigger size engines but for a lil jag 340 with the 500 engine made a great drag sled or oval track
Yeah those air cooled jags are nice sleds. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Too ;bad you don't have the 1975 black chassis. Those were wicked light and fast as hell.
Have a couple 1975 245 rv chassis, but they arent black… What sleds are you referring to??
@@mattsws The 1975 was the oval racer with a 2 gallon gas tank.. orange nose cone and an asymmetrical head light.
Doesn't sound like you have the '75s
I'm referring to the hoods not the chassis.
@@jeffreyhagelin3672 Yeah I have two of those. One is complete in pretty good shape with original small tank, engine and cleated track, the other is missing the motor, so this motor will be going into that one. They are one of my favourite sleds!
I would have to say you got a damn good deal.
1975! ...76 was a 250
The engine tags on both the 75 and 76 245/250 rvs said 245. This one is a 76 because of the bevel on the head fins. Thanks for watching!!!
Hey !! Je te connais toi
# Loutec 😂
Hey! Ca va!!! Ben oui, je fais des videos UA-cam sur les projets que je fais dans mes temps libre. Ah Loutec... des bons souvenirs de notre jeunesse!!!!!
So whats binding? Rotary valve shaft bent?
There was a scuff in the rotary housing and the valve was snagging on it... Took the housing off, sanded the scuff and turns over real nice. I was very relieved!!
Very nice ! Good you caught that! Wonder how that happened? Something get in there?
@@stevenbaker9327 I just got the engine from a guy who bought it on Marketplace. I guess I'll never know!
Do you know how much bad karma would come to an American person who robbed an average Cannuck?!
Yeah buddy!!!
Junk. Waste of 699 bucks
Lol!!!! I was waiting for a comment like this! To each his own I guess… Thanks for watching!
Don't listen to him, you've got an epic find, It's going to be a honker .😊
