I garden and also enjoy watching content about gardening, I find it very relaxing and comfortable. Just seeing the green color of trees makes me feel peace in my heart. Wishing you all happiness and joy
Bethany, you should consider adding ajuga or wild strawberry plants to your “parkway” garden bed. Both are tough, shade tolerant, and fairly salt tolerant.
This was such an exciting and charming video! So glad you guys were able to link up with the lovely Bethany! I am now going to brave harvesting flower seeds.....after all the soggy rain passes.
Looks like you guys had so much fun! And you and Bethany each came away with cool seeds for next year! Thanks for showing the winnowing technique. Love the collab!
Oh my goodness, I was also at the Grand Garden show a couple of years ago and got a tiny hydrangea! I couldn't remember what kind it was, so I was excited when you said you were there and that the hydrangea was a tiny quick fire. It truly is a small world 😊
So fun to see this crossover. Looks like you all had a great time. I’m a bit jealous of Bethany not having to contend with rabbits, deer, and squirrels!
Wow this was very interesting. Goes to show despite not having a huge garden landscape, how just having plants in containers or growbags can be just as successful. ❤
I love both of your channels. I grew up in the Chicago area and now live out East in NH. It's so fun to see the three of you together and enjoying Bethany's garden spaces. I hope you enjoyed all of the beauty of Chicago!
For the deck, a lovely weeping norway spruce or other weeping evergreen would be fantastic and take some room to be a great background set for other plants.
That was fun! Enjoyed your trip to Chicago to visit Bethany. She seemed like so much fun I subscribed to her channel too. I would not have found her without you guys.
Good morning🌞it is wonderful what Bethany has done with the space she has, so much variety, I love it, it reminds me so much of British garden spaces, they accomplish marvelous small gardens when that is what they have to work with. Thanks so much for sharing her space, have a wonderful week🌞
Wow - amazing use of space! She should definitely have hosta in pots on the new shade deck, maybe she can make some sort of pot lids to keep them from getting water logged during the winter.
The tag from my Grand Garden Tour is LITTLE Quickfire, which is perfect for my space. It didn’t occur to me that they gifted several varieties. Luckily someone on the return ferry ride didn’t want to travel with theirs so I came home with two!
This tour was going down memory lane for me. I used to work at Children's Memorial in Lincoln Park prior to the new hospital being built on the Gold Coast. I would take walks at lunchtime in Lincoln Park that looked similar to this one, and loved seeing the container gardens and parkway gardens. I have not yet found any other city that matches the uniqueness of these older Chicago neighborhoods. It was fun to see what this creative gardener has done with her space in back. I always wished that I could see those "secret" gardens which were not visible from the sidewalk.
@@growformegardening I was the hardest move I’ve ever had to do. Everything I wanted to keep had to come with me all at once. And now I am trying to build my dream garden. Your videos are such an inspiration.
For tomatoes in a container, try Better Boy. They are my favorite because the taste good, are smaller than beefsteak but bigger than romas, can be pruned short or tall, withstand all kinds of weather and abuse.
Love the garden and a suggestion for one of the roof top gardens is behind the sitting I would put a rectangle container with grasses in them. It would give more privacy for the neighbour behind.
Yes, put those pots on drip. I did that the second year I had them. It makes it so much easier. During the hot summer days, I felt I had to water every few hours. Thanks for showing us a "Not Your Garden" tour. I have seen some of her videos before. She helped me with over wintering things.
I’m in a very hot zone and mostly landscape plant but I absolutely love her channel and subscribe because she’s a genius at container planting. I hear you say Anenome a lot. It’s Anemone.
Wow!!! Thank you for this joyful video. This is my favorite garden tour for 2024. I have been in the plant business for my whole life and after I recover from watching this beautiful garden show I will share some of my suggestions with you for the new space, But for now,, about the new arbor, or for anywhere, Cobaea( Cup and Saucer Vine) is the most beautiful vine , very wild and crazy and show stopping.
it's so amazing and interesting to watch gardening in different zones. lm in South Texas zone 9b to 10 and it is done so different here. l love all the varieties of hydrangeas and cold weather plants you grow. Most of your annual are perennials here. We garden year round. love the vid!😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Excellent work guys, you ALWAYS deliver inspiring videos!!! I have a bunch of hydrangea blooms, lavender and salvia to harvest, so guess what I'll be doing this weekend 😉
I’m going to irrigate some pots at the edge of my driveway that I’m tired of hand watering. I use the black 1/4” supply tube with brown 1/4” drip tube with emitters spaced every 6”. Each pot has 2-4 emitters, depending on pot size. I haven’t needed to hand water my deck pots all summer. I don’t know why I didn’t think of using this system on my driveway pots, as it’s close to a supply line. It’s on the project list for next spring.
I have those green emitters and use that system for irrigation! Love the video and your energy! All of you! 189 hydrangeas! Wow! Love the tips. I have prob 75 now and 50 plus roses. (Just added all this year!) Following you closely! THANK YOU!
Omg, loved loved this! I love her garden, what she can grow in containers just amazes me! ❤
Right?!

Thank you so much for visiting! Miss you both already. I can't wait to visit and see your garden in person!
We miss you too!!!! Thank you for a fantastic weekend!

Enjoyed this so much. I can’t believe Bethany doesn’t have any yard really to plant in. Her container’s are so pretty.

Simply amazing! I hope you guys will update us on her new space once she has filled it with plants.
We definitely will!

Me too!

Bethany is so creative and built a fantastic space
so happy you came and saw her beautiful garden. Also, I know it rained a lot here but I hope you enjoyed visiting the city.
The rain didn't stop us!

What a wonderful visit, just goes to show, gardeners can garden anywhere! Zone 3 Manitoba 🇨🇦👏🍁

We were blown away by the care that people take to make the parkways looks so good,
Love your spaces! Would suggest repetitions of grasses for the new modern space - like low growing hakonechloa, sedges, and liriope. Happy planting!
Great idea!
Beautiful garden! Great to see you guys in my hometown. Wonderful video!!
Thanks!
Wish I could have all of your containers 😮 ! When I moved from NJ to NC I had to leave so many behind.
That's a big move!

Loved this!💚 I’m a big fan of both your channels!! I’m only an 1-1/2 hrs away from Bethany. Did you try Chicago style deep dish pizza? 🍕
First thing we did! I love it!
Since I started adding calcium when I plant tomatoes, I never get bottom blossom rot.
good tip!
