I’ve installed dual-dash cams in my car, parents’ car, sisters’ cars where you don’t see any wires dangling. I’ve also included the option to have it record when someone hits the car while the engine is off! I’m thinking of posting my dash cam install service and installing them for others.

@@johngranato2673 If you’re willing to spend the money, Black Vue cameras. If you’re looking for best-bang-for-your-buck, Viofo a129 dual front & rear dash cam. Don’t get the Pro or 4K versions. They still need to work out the kinks with those.

I've had my dash camera save me from 2 tickets. One was me passing a car in a no passing zone. Once I showed footage of all the aggressive brake checks for no reason, officer agreed it was in my best interest to be ahead of them since showing down did no good as they would just slow down and continue to brake check.
As an added bonus the officer got their plate number and issued then a ticket for wreckless endangerment.
Video cameras make the best eyewitnesses. They tell the same story every time no matter how many times they have to tell it.
Define brake check. I brake to keep a safe braking distance. It's a term people keep forgetting about until they have to take a driver safety course.
@wadderfock if you're in front of me and no one or thing is in front of you and you slam on the brakes for no reason, that is a brake check.
I had mine for two years and ive seen nothing worth recording and haven't been pulled over. But when i didn't have it i've seen crazy car accidents, cars on fire and one fender bender.

Everyone should have a dash camera! Just get caught up in one swoop and swat scam and get stuck at fault and have your insurance premiums double. That dash cam would have more than paid for itself! Ask me how I know.
Heck just two weeks ago my dash cam saved me from a ticket. Cop was either mistaken who she clocked, or just straight up dishonest. My dash cam has GPS location and speed, and it proved I wasn't going 82 in a 70 like the cop accused me of!
I drive like a maniac and my dashcam only functions when the incident is not my fault.😎
Just remember if it's 1/4 inch below the rear view mirror line then it's a reason they can ticket you for.

The best one to buy is the one that clips over you mirror so you don't even think about it, I have 4 of the stick on the window kind like in this video but the one that clips over the mirror is by far the best one I have and it never falls of, I got lucky with mine because it was on sale from $100 to $30 on door crasher sale, has a built in cameras and a wired camera to put on the back window so it records both windows at the same time.

Yeah, cops sometimes mess up. Cop put on the report that I was texting while driving. My phone was in my purse.

I bought a dashcam that has one you have to install one of them in the rear so I’m gonna save up money (been months since I got it) and have a professional do it lol
It is not that difficult. "Professionals" break the plastic tabs off mouldings also, and wont tell you.
I drive Uber and use a Cobra SC 201. Love it.
Have been using for years and saved me in few accidents. It's cheap insurance on top of insurance. 👍😁

Vehicle data recorders the smaller cheaper equivalent of bright orange flight data recorders known as black boxes could also help or hinder drivers with insurance claims depending on the situation.

Also, sticking things on the windshield can get you a ticket because it obstructs the windshield.
Yes! Check your states laws about placement. Mine has to be behind the rear view mirror.

I just got one with 4 cameras. Front, back, left & right. Unfortunately it's 107 degrees now where I live & maybe 130+ in the car. Wondering if that will kill my dash cam. Will be 97 in a month.

Will a dash cam (in cigarette lighter) drain your battery? Just installed one in my Sierra and was worried about it considering there is a parking mode that takes pictures periodically and turns on for motion.
It shouldn’t drain the battery.

Would something like that work in an older vehicle? The old school cigarette lighters weren’t actually 12 volts. I’ve been told that they’re closer to 9-10. So my phone or anything else charges crazy slow. Would it be enough to power the average dash cam? And if it would power it, how hard am I stressing my electrical system if I do decide to use one?

How do I fix the cigarette lighter? I recently used it to plug an air tire compressor and it stopped working. Ichanged the fuse and it still not working.
Nothing stopping someone from pulling their own SD card from their own camera... Just make sure no one is watching.
I wish they made cameras with near and far lenses independent for both front and back.

Either the Nexar Beam or VIOFO A129 Plus Duo are good options.
Yes I have the viofo a129 plus duo which gets the back as well. The pro has 4k but not worth the extra cost but it is better than the standard because it allows 1440p

Keep in mind that the police can seize the SD cards or camera and there goes your evidence. I strongly suggest using a streaming app on your phone or camera to ensure the footage is either sent to a hidden hard drive or stored on a cloud service.

It is illegal in almost every state to mount a dashcam on the windshield. The law usually requires they be mounted on the dashboard
