My pet peeves. They litter. They won’t clean after themselves or others, except at their home. They love leaving cleaning common areas to the lowest class of people. (Not my job) They don’t take turns, respect a line. I use their busses. When a bus reaches its final destination, they bum rush the exit. They take cuts anytime they can, going thru security checks, loading the busses. Especially driving. They expect you to be non confrontational when they are rude and selfish. Walking around, you need to watch for any type of vehicle doing extreme things to pass. Getting off busses, you can not trust that no vehicle is speeding by on the right side,, the exit of the bus. (Passing on the right of a parked bus that is loading/unloading). Motos will ride on sidewalks, cut thru parking lots,, also in the opposite direction of traffic. People doing a security job, are always looking for a way to be important and show their authority. So, they ID check you over and over when they know you are a resident at a condo. Acting like they are doing an important job.
A Canadian blogger (becoming Filipino) was hit by a motorbike last week on a pedestrian crossing. Luckily, he wasn't hurt. The motorbike rider didn't even get off his damn bike and assist him to get up!
9:00 minutes of the video: I don't think us westerners mind helping out our filipina's family when it's needed but what annoys us is giving money when her 2 older brothers with 4 children each are not working and her father barely works and spends the money on booze. Most of us bust our ass in the west to earn what we have and it's difficult to give money away to people who are not motivated to work and have multiple children they know they can't afford.
But. You. Don't. See. What their. Family. Do. To your. Child. Such. As. Taking of. Them. 😂😂 You. Asking. Favor. But you. Don't. Like. To help a little. Wow 😂😂
So you mean you. Also don't. Ask any. Favor from them especially. When you visit their. House. So many time and then you eat for free with electrity that working 😂😂😂 you. Think .all.of.thst .is. Free. Hahah
You. Said. It hardfor .you to choose. Tomgive. Who. People.who.doesnt. Want to .work to what. About if they. Choose. Jot. To. Work to taking. Care of their. Children ?? Anyway. You are. Man. Your the. One who need to work and provide. Their. Needs. What. Do you. Want the girl who need to feed you and their. Family ??😂😂😮😮😅😅
Excellent video. The work/family/show up/ thing is also baffling to me as well. If you get it figured out , please make a vid. Another is.....Several to accomplish the work of one or two. Is it to lessen the stress ? 😁
If you deal the most incompetent drivers, trikes, obnoxious karaoke, too many chickens and dogs, corrupt governments and Horrible infrastructure and trash you will be fine
My issue with the food is the predominance of rice at every meal. As a diabetic, that's a disaster for my sugar control, but that's a me problem, not their problem. I'd eat rice all the time if I could.
Anytime someone claims a "cultural" or "societal" norm, or "expectations," to justify something that BENEFITS them at your expense... it's a con-job. Learn to smile and say "no"... with NO drama or carrying on... it's not hard at all. 😎☯️🖖🏻 ...and NEVER be afraid to just walk. Or you're asking to get played...
I understand the fact my girlfriend is the bread winner for her family. I dont understand her family being demanding. Youre out of your mind if you think you can demand how it gets spent. She decides who needs it most. The issue i have is the disrespect / attitude when she says no and they want to argue. You don't work you have no leg to stand on
Helping family members can be a good thing. The problem comes when the family members think they don't need to contribute. This is an epidemic thing here. I was married to a filipina for 28 years and now have another filipina wife. Looking at families here, more often than not, there will be only one or two working to support the whole family. This dependence is not a healthy thing for anyone involved.
That is so true! UA-cam is full of OFW stories who've supported their families for many years, sometimes for decades. But try and go home sick and penniless, you'd be lucky to have your own mother help you. The close family ties only works if you have money!
Many foreigners , dosent have English jo as native language . Not even road signs , menu , documents etc on English . Been to 17 countries and most of them, dosent have English as native language but when Filipinos dont want to understand , its about being lazy and all those taxi drivers here in Cebu who dont want to speak English .They have customers from all over the world . I could nearly not write or speak English at school but i started practice and there where no internet and gadget as now. Can learn most things online .
Your totally right but everyone digging in with their hands is a little unsanitary and I find many times it's the pinoy who gets impatient but despite those things try to blend and get along knowing I'm there house
I noticed when I talk to my girlfriend in Dumaguete that I cannot bring up too many questions even when I text they will only answer usually one question and you might have two or three questions in the text. It’s like you have to do it separately if you notice that John?
I have noticed that as I slowly grow older, my medical needs also grow with me. Lucky for me I have Medicare thru my Social Security here in the states. I have 12 different prescription drugs that I need daily. That could be very expensive if I were to live in the Philippines. My grave site is paid for. Do I concern myself? HELL NO. I am in the USA not the Philippines.
Hello, I am living part time in Mactan Newtown, Cebu and in Los Angeles, CA areas. I heard on one of your videos that you do nursing homes in Cebu for foreigners. Please let me know if you need a salesperson here in the States, or someone to accompany elderly to Cebu? I just lost my mom two years ago, and nursing homes here are just too expensive! I think it is a great business to make in the Phillipines. God Bless!
i’m doing something different here in the healthcare field, but this is one of the few other areas that I’m interested in when it comes to healthcare here. I’d be interested to catch up and talk more about this with you if you ever have some time. Sorry to hear about you losing your mom. I lost my dad around the same time.
Except for accessing services eg. Diving and drinking-i have little to do with flippino's. Flippina's-even less.A short time with an out-of-hours bargirl for 1500php. Then it's down a bar frequented by like-minded expats.
Funny. How. They. Looking. For. Peaceful. Without. Noise when. I search their. Country. It mucj more. Noise. Such as. Party. And. Those destruction tornado. And wildfire and. Cold you cant. Acctually move. With thick. Ice even their. Car window and. House. Window no fresh air. Hahaa if you really nirmal. Cold tuen. Why you wear. Jacket. Wear. Sando. Hahaan and. Baby sando. 😂😂😂
You just had to mention balut didn't you??? Hahahaha My Filipina wife and her family love razzing me about balut. Of course I don't think it's funny at all but they sure do!! 🤷🤷🤦🤦😂😂😂
If. Your. Not. Peekyeater. You can. Survive. Anyway theres a cheap carienderia across the. Country. Which. Is. Delicious. And. Cheap. But uf you. Practice. Dramatic taste. You cant. Go home. And. Make. Drama. Daily. 😂😂😂
English is useless if people do not know how act with dignity while talking to foreigners, especially if they are white. People need to speak to foreigners like they are equal and like they are still living in the colonial era.
Some foreigners want to leave but can't due to them having children in the Philippines. Don't expect them to follow the cultural rules if their reason for wanting to leave is the intercultural problems.
Eating with the hand is a habit worldwide and has been for thousands of years. There are many wisdoms in this. In Islam we also eat with our hands and to be precise with the right hand only. The left hand we use for dirty things. There are also other etiquettes like eating what's in front of you, not blowing on the food and other useful smart rules. Ofcourse it's okay to eat with utensils but Westerners should not feel disgusted when others eat with their hands. However, I heard stories that some Filipinas don't wash their hands before eating. That's not good. You have to wash prior eating.
I was in the ladies room in a Philippines mall last year. I was shocked to see the women exiting without washing their hands! I just hoped they weren't food staff! One thing I observed in a ladies' room in the Philippines, the mirrors (where the taps are located) were ALWAYS occupied by women preening themselves!! They endlessly brushed their hair right in front of the sink, dropping hairs all over!

You should make a tribute video for "Every Man Has A Story". He featured you nicely there & that is how I learned of you.
I liked how you handled Filipino food so delicately
Yes, he's intelligent.
Well thought! Thank you for educating people who wants to visit/live in the Philippines.
Thank you very much!

Hey happy holidays John. I think it’s a great time of the year to be greatful and I’m greatful.
I’m grateful for you
I find the lack of using enough words to describe thoughts troublesome. It often leads to misunderstanding even among Filipinos.
Many of them are too lazy to handle abstract thinking, even in their own local languages.

Absolutely. Me too !

I don't.think. That big. Deal simply. Reduce. Rice. Problem. Solve 😅😅 anyway rice protein. We. Cook rice. Without. Sugar. Only. Water why you. Cook your rice. With sugar. 😮😮😮??
@ rice is loaded with carbs. It turns to sugar, which sends blood sugar for a diabetic soaring.
8:14 flexible working conditions
What a great video and great advice.
just to let you know. supporting family of the spouse is expected from filipinos as well.
Hi John….I know you were friends with Mark and you must feel sad….I will really miss him😢….Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you Marc. I do feel very sad about losing him as a friend and I especially feel heartbroken for Jen and Rogan. Merry Christmas

I struggle to understand the lack of shame grown adults seem to have when depending on a relative.
@teda9906
I never even thought of that to be honest. My brain can't fathom me letting myself be a burden to others when I can find a way to be useful

A little? It's disgusting. I mean are they animals? You can be poor but still have some basic manners.
I noticed when I talk to my girlfriend in Dumaguete that I cannot bring up too many questions even when I text they will only answer usually one question and you might have two or three questions in the text. It’s like you have to do it separately if you notice that John?
I think Pea mentioned this in one of her videos. She said yes, they will only answer one question if you ask multiple questions in one message. 😂

What I also noticed is that most (if not all) Filipinos eat/chew with their mouth open. Very annoying to see. While we chew with our mouths closed.
They even talk with a mouthful of chewed up food!
@craigschuler7368 yeah absolutely disgusting! I think it could be a provincial culture??
I have been with mt Filipina asawa for nearly 10 years, and living here since the pandemic ended... I will never enjoy Philippine food much 🤣
Learn bisaya ...simple.
