My God, Wales. Literally the most beautiful country in the world and full of lovely, lovely people. Bless you all, you gorgeous, spectacular place. Much love from USA, can't wait to visit you again.
Proud Texan of proud Welsh heritage and family ties. My grandmother was from Wrecsam, and Wales will always, always be a part of me. I am so proud to be part Welsh/Cymry.
Dylan Houghton Cymry means welsh people, Cymro is a Welshman, Cymraes a welsh woman, Cymraeg the welsh language and cymreig is adjectival, to mean ‘something welsh’ ...
A more literal translation: The old land of my fathers is dear to me, Land of bards and singers, famous men of renown; Her brave warriors, very splendid patriots, For freedom shed their blood. Country, Country, I am faithful to my Country. While the sea [is] a wall to the pure, most loved land, O may the old language [sc. Welsh] endure. Old mountainous Wales, paradise of the bard, Every valley, every cliff, to my look is beautiful. Through patriotic feeling, so charming is the murmur Of her brooks, rivers, to me. If the enemy oppresses my land under his foot, The old language of the Welsh is as alive as ever. The muse is not hindered by the hideous hand of treason, Nor [is] the melodious harp of my country. From Wikipedia, I chose the most literal one.

@@spark_6710 dim cymry :) I'm not welsh. Tradition, male choir tradition that has roots in sacral choirs. Now if you know, the sacral hymns originally weren't rythmical but liturgical, take for instance chorals and byzantine/church slavonic chants, and liturgy is reserved to males, while singers were also those who were literate monks or seminaries, hence participation in it for centuries was male only. While folk music which is rythmical, was often unwritten, it was either among women or bards (in celtic countries). Nowdays everyone participate in church music, even on traditional latin mass, women sing but more people are musically literate. Britons were stronghold of christianity. As for welsh case, here is another reason, celtic languages are poetic, and their abstraction of the world was more cultural, that is why their men often sung during hard work.
@@Lobo1888 Thank you so much for replying & explaining a lot to me! I really appreciate that ! But,what did you mean by Celtic songs are more poetic that is why male choirs!? @@spark_6710 celtic languages are more poetic, pronounciation of some words depend on the word before and some vowels change, there are also b/v mutations to m/mh, and c to g, depending on the word before and context. Ofc. there are female choirs and mix choirs in Wales, it's a nation of excellent singers. It was common among celtic people to have female singers who would sing for the entire clan/village, and they have awesome tradition. You can check goidelic songs "Mo Ghile Mear" or "Ailein Duinn".
