Honda D16 Turbo Parts List!

  • A video showing parts I would use today to build a turbo single cam civic both in a budget build and in an all out high horsepower build. A lot of these parts can be found used on Facebook marketplace or on other websites for cheaper than I show them for here. Don't be afraid to grab some used parts and make an awesome budget build, its half the fun of building a car! I forgot to include a wideband 02 sensor here, I personally would use the AEM X series which can be found for around $130, it is crucial to tuning your car. If you have any questions, leave them below and I will answer them as quickly as possible!

      VSR has been good to me, I run their 7875 on my LS car, that thing should light off quick! You can get oil pressure from the sensor area on the back of the block using a T, but the threads are BSPT. Alot of guys end up forcing an NPT fitting in there not knowing any better and having leaking issues either immediately or down the road.

    Great breakdown man! Just subbed keep up the good work I can see your channel blowing up with this kind of information.Btw any suggestions on d16 transmission as far as clutch and max power capabilities?

    • @acceleratekendel
      @acceleratekendel  Рік тому

      Clutch wise initially I had a cheaper XTD "stage 2" that I didn't break in properly and slipped the first time driving it, which still did well enough to put down a 13.8 1/4 at the drag strip. After I built the motor, I did a synchrotech rebuild kit with carbon synchros, an Mfactory LSD, insane shafts axles and a comp stage 4 clutch. As long as you preload the axles when you launch it there's no reason a set of factory axles and some good transmission fluid wouldn't hold up with a good name brand clutch. If you're shooting for a super high hp build, there are adapter plates out there to adapt the D series to a B series transmission which are more commonly built, but unless you're putting down somewhere over 450hp I dont think its necessary.

    • @acceleratekendel
      @acceleratekendel  Рік тому +1

      The sandwich plate is used for the oil feed, it goes between the block and oil filter and pushes oil into the turbo. You still would need to drill a hole in the oil pan for the oil return from the turbo. My local fab guy charges $20 to drill a hole in the pan and weld in your bung so long as you bring it to him cleaned out and not full of oil residue.

    Use a microsquirt instead of hondata. They cost $300 and can run coil on plug for no extra cost.

    • @acceleratekendel
      @acceleratekendel  3 місяці тому +1

      This videos becoming a bit dated, especially with the newer ECUs out, but the info is still sound.
      The problem with doing microsquurt is that nobody (at least in my area) tunes it . I understand that you can learn to do it yourself but this video was targeted more twords the beginner trying to save money and not blow up an engine or two figuring it out.
      I do agree microsquirt is a decent option, but I have no experiance with it so i cant speak much on it. The new haltech ecu is becoming popular and some people in my area only tune link ecu, and I've seen enough copy and paste remote tunes blow these things up more than anything else.

      They do sell a $900 kit, but all you're getting is the turbo and intercooler really. No injectors, BOV, wastegate etc. And the manifold is going to crack fairly easily because of the thin walls and cheap material.
