    I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer earlier this year. I had no symptoms. No pain, no weight loss or anything. I ended up in the ER because of blood in Urine. I was sent to a Urologist. I have a lost of appetite, hating food that I loved and hating the smell of some foods cooking. I still don't understand how or why I got Kidney Cancer. Three members of my family have died from various forms of Cancer but no one has ever been diagnosed with Kidney Cancer.

      I had the same thing happen to me. Four months ago I had a UTI. I went to the doctor, I was put on antibiotics and I thought all was fine. Four weeks later I noticed blood in my urine, and again I had an infection, except this time I was in a lot of pain. I went to the ER, where they did a cat Scan and found I had kidney cancer in my left Kidney. They sent me to a Urologist, and after I take some Chemo in a few weeks, he will remove my left kidney. In the meantime I too have a loss of appetite, have lost some weight, am sick to my stomach just smelling some food, etc.,. The only difference between you and I is, that my brother who is 2 years younger had that same cancer about 20 something years ago. He is till alive and doing great. Here's hoping we both get just as lucky.

    I didn’t get any symptoms. Mine was found incidentally. Had a pain in my abdomen. Doctor sent me to hospital assuming it was appendicitis. Had a nephrectomy 7 weeks ago. I’m fit and healthy. Non-smoker, non-drinker and very fit.

    My husband had a routine scan for stomach problems and the kidney tumour was discovered. He had no symptoms. This was in 2013 and he had surgery to remove the left kidney and tumour. He has stayed well and active since the surgery. Urine samples recently have shown protein in the urine but the GP has said that it is unnecessary to refer him to a urologist. I am worried that his remaining kidney may be compromised.

      I’ve had protein in my urine for 20+ years, it’s from glomerulonephritis. About 5 years ago I also had 2 tumors discovered by chance for a stomach issue scan. Had a kidney removed. Still have protein from the other kidney in my urine. It’s probably not cancer related in your husbands case.

    Im very scared because my mom had kidney stones removal in jun6,2022
    and now she had an ultrasound done yesterday and they saw a 9cm round thing or nodule as they said in her kidney and a 4cm in her lung . Which makes us see that this thing grew in 2months in a rapid speed . Iam very sacred to think it can be malignant..🥺

      9cm seems fairly large. I wish you and your mom the best news regarding both of these instances. I hope they order a more detailed scan or biopsy.

    Sounds familiar, Declan and I am on the front end of it... discovered dark red blood in my urine on 1/4, diagnosed with renal cancer on 1/5, CT scan showing a mass on my left kidney that is a little bigger than a grapefruit. At 63 I am very active and healthy and there was never a clue it was there until nine days ago. A "quiet" cancer, apparently. But then two trips to the ER, including for bladder blocked by clotting - ow - and a 2-night stay at the hospital, all in 5 days! A radical nephrectomy comes on 1/27 at Dartmouth and then a post-op plan based on everything they have learned. Fortunately, there is no evidence that it has spread anywhere else, so I'm holding on to that, but this is scary stuff. Your videos of your process have been very helpful this evening, Declan, so thank you. My only suggestion is that you try to wear the Red Sox cap a little more often.

      Sounds eerily like my situation, Greg - right down to the radical nephrectomy of left kidney (and adrenal gland) 3 weeks ago. As the surgeon said, "This will be with you for the rest of your life.", meaning periodic checkups. Am 67, so "rest of my life" is a relative term. Imho, anyone who hasn't realized their own mortality by 60 is not playing with a full deck - but Cancer definitely confirms the rumor. Godspeed, bro.

    Best luck and recovery to you. I am one of the ‘found the cancer by accident’ people. No symptoms at all and excellent kidney function. I was going to donate a kidney to a relative and one of the final tests was a CT-scan, and whoops, you have two tumors. Five months earlier only one was seen as a harmless cyst using ultrasound, and now it was four times the volume and divided - so tumors can pick up speed growing and aggressiveness if they get the notion. Several doctors said I was so lucky to have had the CT-scan when I did.

      Hi Austin. Mine was discovered by accident as well. Did you have yours removed?

    • @austinburns4213
      @austinburns4213 2 роки тому +1

      @@bigron4021 Yes. We did a robotic partial nephrectomy to remove the tumors. Unfortunately, the surgery ~30 hours later started bleeding too much, so we had to go back in again in a hurry and take the entire kidney. Too bad that had to happen, but I am doing fine with one kidney. I hope you are doing well without recurrence.

      @@austinburns4213 Hi Austin. Thanks for responding. Sorry to hear that they had to go back in and remove the kidney due to bleeding, but happy to hear that you're doing well. I'm scheduled for a robotic procedure as well and fortunately, the surgeon said he can preserve the kidney due to the location of the mass. How long were you in the hospital and what size was your mass?

    • @austinburns4213
      @austinburns4213 2 роки тому +1

      @@bigron4021 I hope that you are doing better ! Great news in preserving part of your kidney. I had two tumors in one kidney and the larger one was around 4cm and growing. The first (mis)diagnosis 7mos earlier was just a 1.2cm common benign cyst. I spent 8 days in the hospital - mostly due to secondary issues from two surgeries so close together. But recovered quickly after that. Here in the states, the hospital/doctor/pathologists bills totaled a bit over 100K USD, but my private insurance covered a major portion of that, thank goodness.

      @@austinburns4213 Hi Austin. I'm doing good. Scheduled for a robotic partial nephrectomy. Tumor is 5.9cm in right kidney. Due to location, Dr is optimistic he can remove it with relative ease and preserve my kidney. Going for another opinion in a few weeks ... just want to ensure this is the best route to go vs doing a biopsy first. How are you doing?

      I had the exact same surgery not so long ago but my symptoms were blood red urine for about 2 days intermittently and then it stopped completely. I could have easily missed these occasions. I go to toilet without light on. Went to toilet in morning and that is when I first noticed it because I didn’t flush fortunately.

    Just been diagnosed with Kidney Cancer. for 2/3 months I had sore testes, had a scan done eventually after visiting A&E.. Sent for CT scan and now waiting to go into hospital in July after my holiday. No other symptoms at all apart from a sore left side under ribs which I thought was just sore back.
