Colleges as an institution are kinda dumb tbh. But all the high income jobs are stuck behind degrees (don’t trust those people who say that you just need to hustle or smth, people who actually get rich with that strategy are one in 1000000) so if u want to live comfortably you need one.
i understand the struggle. i dropped out of college after the first year. now i run my own small business with an old hs friend. ur not alone, every sane person in that class is thinking the same thing
I'm entering college later this year, and you got me stressin' now 😭 Especially since what you described about some of your professors sounds exactly like what two of my teachers are currently like, one of which's class I withdrew from because of how terrible it was and I was failing 😭
I wouldn't stress too hard because the good thing about college is you can always drop out without a penalty as long as it's before a certain date. And every college is different so i hope your experience is better than mine 😂. Also I would use this website called "rate my professor" and it's rating students gave the professor based off how easy or hard the class was and it can really help you dodge the bad ones.
If college is draining you. Maybe find a course that actually correlates to your path in life. You arent doing what god has chose you to do. Now go find that thing and pick it. Hobby, career whatever.
For my literature class in college the teacher was overly insistent on us getting the textbook in class, and we had to do a textbook check on day 1. Then we didn't use it a single time the entire class. The class said that her husband was the author, but idk if that was just a rumor . Tbf, I do remember they both had the same last name, lol. Does seem like kind of a racket most of the time.
At least here in Sweden, it's not really that hard to buy second hand textbooks. I still feel like it's a scam. Such a bullsh!1 thing that certain books costs a few hundred bucks. Pretty sure they massively overinflate the prices just cause they can, they know students need the books so why not bust their wallets while they are at it.
brothers… college isn’t stupid its here to give us a general understanding of how things work no matter what field you will definitely not invest the time to understand chemistry or physics when chilling on youtube don’t lie to yourself they are here to enable humanity to evolve and create new things the prices are still insane in america but don’t blame education as it is but rather your politicians there is a bunch of evidence that shows how republicans work against students
yeah i think it's important to point out this is from a perspective of America and our college is outrageous compared to other places and many countries the only way to make it "out of the hole" so to speak is to get a good education so i'm definitely grateful to be in the position i am.
The problem isn't college, the problem is that it's become an expectation that college is the bare minimum. Most people dont need a college degree to do the job they're doing, but every job expects you to have a degree, so people go to college even though they really shouldn't have to for their career
My experience with college was that the information was good but there was nothing you couldn't find online. I also saw a lot of people get their degree who really didn't deserve it. Like they will be completely incompetent at whatever job they get. So in that sense, college is a massive scam. Ultimately, you get out what you put in. If you put in effort you will learn more. The fact that you can coast through and still get the degree doesn't mean you should. Also, the fact that there are so many morons with degrees means that it is important that you go above and beyond to prove to future employers that you are legit. Do sports, join clubs that are associated with your field of study (like an engineering org or a research club). Get an internship or co-op or some kind of professional experience before you graduate. It used to be that graduating high school meant that you were legit. Then the bar got raised to a college degree. Now too many morons are getting degrees so the new minimum is a degree+internship experience. If you don't have that by the time that you graduate it will be harder to land a job straight after college. Good luck!
I am doing Highschool and College at the same time, yes thats possible. And ill say that its worth it for me because all textbooks are provided. But if you already pay to go to college there is no reason you should have to pay even more. I will say that even my college teachers are way too serious even though they are teaching a bunch of highschool kids, one even refuses to give A's to anyone in the class, its so unfair.
I quite college a couple years ago. I have way less pressure put on me. And I felt like my career choice was unreachable anyway. I only have a little bit of regret.
If you're thinking about doing video editing, see if you can get in touch with an advisor from your video production major department and take some kind of placement exam; maybe they could work something out and let you skip some of the basics.
Yo thank you bro! i've been playing on this world for about 6 years at this point on and off. And I'm from South Carolina, thanks for watching the video means a lot!
Yeah college does suck. It's stupid how they force you to do electives to graduate. I don't care about all these extra classes, I'm paying to be here let me just do my required classes for my degree and leave within 2 years instead of stretching it out. Of course they do it on purpose to get more money out of people with the excuse of making well rounded students. For example though I've maybe taken 2 classes for my degree this whole year. It's crazy how some of these elective teachers expect us to do all this extra shit when 99 percent of the class aren't majoring in the subject. For the textbooks yeah they're stupid I bought 2 this semester and they're both still in their shrink wrap but apparently they were required. One last thing that bothers me is no one wants to talk or socialize, I went into college thinking it was going to be fun and I was going to meet lots of people but nope not really. It's not that I'm antisocial or anything I had plenty of friends in highschool but it's been kinda tough in college. Maybe it's because I'm a commuter student but still. Anyways in summary college is just highschool but more expensive more difficult and less social at least for me.
yeah i agree a lot with this. I have a friend who's going to be a welder and he has to take a Spanish and public speaking class which kinda insane. But my advice for meeting people would to go to the events that most colleges have like a fall festival or stuff like that it's a great way to meet people in my opinion.
@@thomas_talks yeah I would go to events but a lot of them are kinda lame and I live over an hour away from campus so I just can't be bothered most of the time.
