So I have had the ID7 GTX for some months now. As a family car, two kids, in Norway with absolute need for AWD its almost a perfect car. Brilliant easy driving, extremely comfortable seats and alot of room in the back and trunk. Perfect family car, actually an upgrade compared to E-tron 55 which I drove before.
I like the GTX models of the ID range, especially in these colours, they spice things up a bit, but for some reason VW doesn't appeal to me as they used to back in the 90s. Superb presentation again, my friend.
Thanks for the interesting review. I am now after 3 1/2 years moving away from a Tesla MY LR AWD to a VW ID 7 tourer. For the past weeks I had a hard time deciding between a GTX and the ProS. Prices are quite similar (ProS, with all extras). Finally, I ordered the ProS. In my view 100km more in WLTP range makes a huge difference in terms of day-to-day usability. The big range of the ProS allows you to less frequently fully charge the battery. Even when you go on long distance you should be able to start with 80 or 90% as you normally don’t drive for more than 4 without a break. This should have a positive impact on battery degradation. With my Tesla I am now at almost 10% degradation after 90.000km which becomes a nuisance in winter. If you don’t need all wheel drive all the time I would recommend the ProS.
Hej, thanks for the complete review. I think the ID7 Estate is the best EV of the VW line up. This GTX version is a bit expensive, even tho fitted with a lot of features 🙂 To the contrary of some people, I don't think the interior design is bland or boring. You have to get use to it, because it is not a "in your face" right from the start kind of design. But the more you use it, the more you realize that everything is put together in an ergonomic way, starting with the perfect HUD Ok, except for the haptic touch buttons on the wheel 😮💨
The heptics really need to be replaced both on the steering wheel and underneath the screen. I think the GTX Tourer will be the top selling id7 version in Sweden.
I really enjoyed your review. It matches others where people day it grows on you. In the UK, where I don't need AWD, I don't think it is worth £10,000 over the Pro for me. I can understand why you you in colder climates.
@ItsOnlyElectric Wow! It is £3800 from the Pro to the Pro S here. At least the £690 to gp from hatch to tourer is an easy one. The tourer is much better looking
You need to compare against the Pro S due to bigger Battery and better BMS...more efficient...and configure to the same Level of options and you will recognize that the difference is minimal.
Haven't tried the V90 unfortunately. Didn't record any noise video this time but measured it, and it's on par with the sedan running on 20". But GTX on Nokian Hakka R5 and they tend to be more silent. ua-cam.com/video/mNTtn1W_7Pg/v-deo.htmlsi=m5RUC8i8KmE2d9CK
Great review! Would you pick this over a 2025 refreshed Model Y if it has the same price as this one? I am torn about waiting for the Y refresh or buying this one.
I had the same thoughts as I am driving a MY LR AWD since 3 years that is running out in a couple of months. Initially, I wanted to see what the MY Juniper has to offer. However, following the US elections I decided that I would not go for a Tesla anymore as I find Elon Musk’s behavior unacceptable and don’t want to support this with my money. When seeking for alternatives I came across the ID 7. What I realised that I would want a more mature car. I really fed up with the low level of comfort, the phantom breaks which I have almost on every journey and the screen wipers that are annoying all the time. I expect some improvement from the Juniper model. However, I don’t expect that Tesla manages to reach the maturity of the traditional manufacturers as VW. The only thing I will miss is this insane acceleration and the punch you feel.
Would you believe the Ioniq 5 has a longer wheel base than this? 3meters.. BTW, ever since the Qashqai was released in 2007 ppl in Europe buy crossovers/SUVs, not estates. So I don't see how this would sell better than the ID4.
The ID 7 is a more up scaled model compared to ID 4 in term of the interior. Also i think it has more torque and has way more range. More room, drives better. Estate is very popular in Europe.
As always, a very informative video. Unfortunately, VW still has the problem that vehicles are certainly extremely attractive and chic on the outside but still rather drab and plastic on the inside 😅
No black wheel arch! Plus to me! Also car that looks like a car otherwise! Two plus so far. WW maybe going banckrupsy… do you get spare parts in the future… unknown…
@@ItsOnlyElectric For me their biggest problem is playing it safe with their designs while lacking the quality they were known for - they are now bottom of the VW group for me, below Skoda and SEAT, yet still charge a lot for their product. I've got an ID Buzz (on lease - to buy is astronomical price) and while I quite like it, the quality is bad, there have been buzzes and rattles from new, low spec compared to rivals for that high cost.
@@ItsOnlyElectric It's too late already. €190 Billion in debt, huge profits losses, uncompetitive EV's, New EV platform not due until 2031, plants running at 60% capacity, 50% of profits lost from China not buying there ICE cars. There is no way out for them at all.
I think the prices are way way too high. How many familys can afford to pay 7000 SEK a month for a car? and my electrical bill here in Sweden are already way too high (I pay 2.8 SEK / kWh and it will only go up as it gets colder now). Average income after tax is 28000 SEK in Sweden, and I mean rent for an apartment these days is around 10000 SEK / Month.. then we have this car 7000SEK / Month, and insurance, tax etc. Then we have many 8000 SEK left to live on for the rest of the month.
No way this will sell. What an abosolute junk from bad tesla copy design which the interioe looks horrible with tablet in the middle nobody wants that looks hideous. Nobody wants a battey car with a 1ton lithium block carrying it around. This is a flop.
What's your view on the #id7gtx ? Is this what VW needs?
If only the ID3 and 4 had this standard of interior quality and infotainment at launch, VW might be doing better.
Totally agree. And the software 🤝
Too late and to short compared to the Chinese market place standards. 😢 VW IS doomed.
@Alberto-xw8vx and outside China?

I agree, I want the old appeal back. The heart of the brand, missing it

Good choice. The ProS is a range monster. Ask you say, if you don't need AWD go for it
Thanks

Here in Sweden the price difference between entry level pro and the GTX is 4500 Euro.

Hi! Thanks for the review, I’m looking for the noise table, do you have any data?
How does the seat compare to the v90?

The complete review I was looking for. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it
I would buy any of the vw products, but the design is just not there. Waiting for Andreas mindt to undo the prior designers work.
That's the thing stopping me from switching from my MY to a id7 gtx
714000 SEK :O :O Insane
Insane as expensive or cheap? 🥳
all the information there is, beautifully presented
🙏
Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching
Great review! Would you pick this over a 2025 refreshed Model Y if it has the same price as this one? I am torn about waiting for the Y refresh or buying this one.
Good question..don't know how good the Y will be yet. So would probably wait.
@ yeah thanks most likely will wait. If we assume Model Y refresh is as good as Model 3 refresh. Are you picking ID7 Tourer GTX or Model Y?
@marcwinner567 if it looks better than the refreshed M3 I will consider it.

@KlausSchmidt-mz5eb agree. Driving the SQ6 now, offers the same acceleration punch as my MYP. But a bit more expensive 🫰
Really nice car

It's alot better than the Id4. bigger, better comfort and more practical. But yes, SUVs are hard to beat
The ID 7 is a more up scaled model compared to ID 4 in term of the interior. Also i think it has more torque and has way more range. More room, drives better. Estate is very popular in Europe.
Awesome car!

Brilliant
want a bet ? I think the ID 7 will outsell the estate class.

Really don't think VW will go bankrupt. Too big to fail.
VW is partly owned by Government...it will never fail...like Renault, which was saved several Times by french Government.
still this horrible TOUCH Areas on the steeringwheel? whyyyyyy?????
It looks identical to the standard iD7 Tourer.... Shame!
Not identical but close to
Erm , No VW are still fucked!
What do they need to save it?

@AndrewTSq you are right. Company cars (tjänstebilar) are probably 90% of the sales.
Inte helt tokig som familjebil då.
Men jäklar vad dåligt det går för alla tyska tillverkare. 🙄
Nej, ganske perfekt som familjebil!
Verkligen, hoppas att Europa for ordning på din bilindustri.

In world of bland car interiors , it’s an Oscar winner ..

Yeah it's not very sexy.
Design is meh
And function?
The solution to this car IS buy a BYD SEALION 7.
Looking forward to test the sealion
No, the first Tests show 30kwh/100km at 130km/h...a nightmare of an inefficient car.
@josefv-y8m wow.. that's horrible
FACT: A 2021 Nissan Leaf has far more comfortable seats than the ID3.
Yes git sure. At least the standard seats. But the id7 has better seats than the id3.
