    “I’m to the point where I’m wondering if the composition’s gonna work, the proportions are right, the lighting is right, if I remember how to paint…” Lol. Like you said, a little late now! You keep that humility, man, you will continue to impress everyone who has the fortune to see your work. I can hear that big boy bugling now. Fantastic work, Joel. I always look forward to more. Troy

    I really love your work! I have to disagree however, I say the more details you can give the better. I learn best by seeing every detail I can. Then I figure out how to incorporate it; which pieces I’ll keep! My two cents. Thank you for sharing your work!

    You didn't need to tell me you were sick at the beginning of this video. I could see the flush tones of your face and I suffered right along with you. The mother in me wanted to turn the camera off and tell you to get to bed but the finished painting is exquisite and I'm glad you charged through.

    i unfortunately cannot listen to the commentary of this video (as i'm watching during class haha) but i just wanted to say WOW! This is absolutely incredible, words can't truly come close to describing it to its fullest. I love the use of color, and value you added into this! i don't work with paint very much, i use colored pencils and pens majority of the time, but painting is definitely something i would like to work on. love everything about this incredible painting, just wanted to say! have a great day

    Once again, stunning! I’m so thankful to have come across your videos. May I ask what you did to the background? It looked just like maybe black paint, but when you were applying the breath it appeared that the background had almost a slight texture or variation in the black?
    Again thanks for sharing your gift.

      Not pure black. Just a variety of darker colors applied with a knife/wood block. Thanks!

    Love all your videos! Can you tell me what you use to prep your canvas for charcoal paintings? Thanks!!

    • @JoelPilcherArt
      @JoelPilcherArt  2 роки тому

      I buy the canvas stretched and pre primed, but I don't do any additional prep. Thanks!

    What workable fixative do you use, I’ve watched a bunch of your videos the past two days and I don’t think I’ve seen you mention the exact fixative you use! Also can you show us how exactly you apply, even if it’s simple it’s still not common sense to someone who’s never used it, thank you! Love your channel and all the work you do, it’s absolutely amazing, interesting and extremely inspiring!!!

    • @JoelPilcherArt
      @JoelPilcherArt  2 роки тому +1

      I use Krylon workable fixative. I just spray it on in long even strokes. Think Karate Kid "paint the fence", but with a spray can. I'll try to include it in a future video. Thanks!

    • @JoelPilcherArt
      @JoelPilcherArt  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! The wash is just a mix of acrylic paint and water.
