Years since this released... I cannot tell you how relevant all of this still feels. What an absolute genius songwriter. Sure, some may not like this music, but, please look at the lyrics. I LOVE this album and the lyrics are spot on...as usual.
Lyrics don't matter much to me, I just want music to sound good. That's why I like maynard so much - his voice just sounds good. I love this album though, probably my favorite from APC. I know people don't like it but people also criticised 10,000 days which is my favorite album of all time.
Per other comments... if you feel this album is a bit " different " or "softer" than you had wished.. keep listening, with every play it will grow on you gracefully... so beautiful
This album is a bit strange. I feel like I’m experiencing some sort of delayed gratification. The more I sat and listened and experienced the music on a visceral level, the more I noticed I understood and loved it. It wasn’t love at first listen, it took time, time to process and chew on it and sleep on it. A wonderful album
Real art requires time to understand it well enough, when i was shown with tool and APC i was really confused about kind of the music it was, after all i'm also big fan of this wierd creations of these minds
All truly masterful albums are like that, it takes time to understand it, to feel it, to get used to the different new sound and experimentations. Then with every listen you discover more and more and it gets better and better. Many different feeling goes through you, many interpretations many meanings you can even find very little sounds added that you hear for the first time... Amazing...
I feel like an angry tool fan when Maynard’s style changed, I can’t appreciate this as much as older a perfect circle, delicious is an incredible song though from this album.
APC new album reflects the mental and spiritual maturity after the turmoil, rebellion and anger. I liked the old albums and I like the new one that is totally different in its essence. It’s not angry, it consoles, it reminds us to look around and understand we’re not alone.
"This music is only enjoyable if you have no expectations". Wow. Second time I have heard that. Eating shit follows the same principle. It tastes great if you have no expectations!
C F This isn't what i said, at all, lol. Maybe it phrased it poorly, excuse me then. What i meant is, we shouldn't cross it off, just because it's not their usual sound, just because it's got something from the R&B genre, doesn't mean it blows.
i like the new sound, a good artist can change and adapt sound to keep fans interested. nobody wants a repeat of stuff like breaking Benjamin again. bands like korn changed sound basically every album and still is staying relevant.
Agreed. I really wasn’t sure about it at first, but now am eager to buy the album. I feel it’s a masterpiece actually, but it took a while to get to this point.
This song feels so good after the emotional rollercoaster of the rest of this album. I've definitely listened to the whole thing more than 50 times. Different from their older stuff, same beautiful gravitas.
Joey R Sure. But it's also fact. The song's structure has little to no movement and the parts don't change... Ever. It's as much of an opinion as it is to state "if I jump, I'll fall back down towards the Earth"
I'm just now getting into A Perfect Circle and have now completed their four studio albums. I suppose for long-time fans who weight the old albums greater, the evolution is disappointing. But to judge this band as four albums at once, it's quite a cool progression they've made and I'm glad I didn't listen to four albums of the same stuff over and over. I want bands to build a sound and then see how far that sound can go, and it's been a pleasure listening to APC's work.
Those of you saying he sounds bored or just not into it...He tells you right there in the song. He ain't got time for that...and he doesn't wanna chit chat... just wants to get the lead on ya know? Leave the bored man alone to make his bucks off of simplicity.
I love this song so much that it feels like they pulled me through the screen to help them write the music part because its so my style. Love you dad for introducing me to this song😙
If you don't know the meaning of the lyrics you probly just ain't been there yet, but enjoy the track anyway cause you both deserve it. I'm late a year, but I'm here for it.
This is by FAR, the most important album Maynard has ever been a part of. Mature, conscious, and full of light for the world at crucial time in our evolution, or lack thereof. It may not be what most "fans" are used to, but innovators are always ridiculed. People will be forced to open their eyes wide for this. The album transcends music and art, with some of the most important spiritual messages that so desperately need to be heard. I highly encourage people to share the album with loved ones, and "walk them through it" if necessary. Much love
This one reminds me of alt-J. Anyone else getting that vibe? Also... i love this album, not a let down at all, it's very different, but that's a great thing! Congrats on what you have made MJK and APC, looking forward to seeing you in June!
I’ve woken up to having “Disillusioned” & “By and Down the River” in my head. I love waking up to Maynard’s voice. He is literally my fave 🎉❤❤❤❤ 🎤 🎶 🎵 Wow! Billy on that guitar 🎸 ❤❤❤ I used to have an alarm clock that would wake me up by gently turning up the music CD or station I wanted it to. I LOOOOOVED waking to MJK’s singing. Smile on my face every time I opened my eyes. Edit: after waking today I enjoyed parts of what turned out to be from “The Doomed”.
This track parallels really with some of the slower emotive tracks. “When the levee breaks” could be play right before this and mesh fine. Subtle track which is a usual trope with APC.
I remember driving around with big sister as we listened to Tool.. I feel as tho this album can touch the Tool day's. I'll always appreciate my sister for showing me proper music.
After spending several weeks listening to this album... this is my favorite song. The atmosphere is incredible, and that break in the middle I end up dancing to every time. Come back to the east coast! I wanna hear this live.
I sat here, hesitant to listen to this new song, because im afraid of change, but, i was weak and powerless to refuse, so i gave it a try, and i was blown away to see one of my favorite bands, to have compiled new music that is modern in nature, but yet still so closely related to their core. Beautiful ! ()infinity()
Shoot me...but I have always liked APC's experimental sound more than tool's heavier stuff and this album doesn't disappoint at all. They are the Pink Floyd of our time.
It seems like everyone hates it. I don't know if it's that it's a bit much Puscifer in some places though...why does it matter? People baffle me, what did anyone expect given the amount of years from 50+ year old Maynard/a band that only ever did two original studio albums?
Seems like a lot of people always cloud their own personal opinions about a band's new album by letting nostalgia get in the way. There's way too many people criticizing stuff through comparison instead of looking at something as its own thing. Personally, when a band I like that I consider to have a lot of talent comes out with a new album, I'm hoping its going to sound different from their previous stuff. I don't want talent to be wasted on the same sound over and over, I wanna know what else they can do.
Yeah but you gotta stay true to the bands orogional style a little bit. Tool evolved but with the original style intact. This is... a dissapointimg and seemingly soulless endeavor
Maybe. I still feel their music will never be as good as their first two albums. I understand they're trying different styles....I just wish they could make the same level of amazing music that they used to.
the first time i heard it. when i started listening to it , yo, thats a wrap. & the more i played it, i connected lyrics w music & aperfectcircle plays so symphonic & in sync.
this is nuts, so I'm digging through old sketchbooks right now from like 8 years ago and one of the drawings I did had a side note that said "A Perfect Circle" albums to remind myself to look them up.... WTF that's nuts.
This would be the coolest Bond song
"Get the Lead out. Suck it up, buttter cup.....You got places to be." - Maynards vocals always amaze. Especially this part.
I dunno why, but I like it the more I listen to it.
daBak93
I agree. 👌
I think thats a sign of good music ;)
daBak93 exact same here
👍💯
Same It's got the gorrilaz effect in that sense

Yeah 3 years since release.
come on dude, this is kinda new lol.
"suck it up, buttercup" lol. that's all I can do is laugh at that he put that in there. Love this group and all his others.
I was sweating it, not knowing if I was digging this song, then I heard what you typed in and, now, I’m as calm as cookies in cream :)
I think it's a dig at the "gun up buttercup" folks. "Get the lead out"
Per other comments... if you feel this album is a bit " different " or "softer" than you had wished.. keep listening, with every play it will grow on you gracefully... so beautiful
This song 5 years down the line is like screaming.
This entire album is amazing and Pucisfers last album was a masterpiece. it seems that anything Maynard touches turns into fine wine.
I see what you did there...
Agreed!! Voice of my generation!! Yeah!! 👨🏭👨🏭😎😎
Listen to eMOTIVe
Nice reference dude
Damnit! Quickly clicked to get my “I see what you did there” only for my hopes to be dashed thusly... *shakes fist* this isn’t over Stella!! 😋

@@dimitarkanev8910 I couldn't have said it better myself!

This album is a masterpiece what a blessing to be alive with these guys ✌
APC new album reflects the mental and spiritual maturity after the turmoil, rebellion and anger. I liked the old albums and I like the new one that is totally different in its essence. It’s not angry, it consoles, it reminds us to look around and understand we’re not alone.
The song bangs, you have to drop your expectations, just because this isn't their usual sound, doesn't mean it blows.
"This music is only enjoyable if you have no expectations". Wow. Second time I have heard that. Eating shit follows the same principle. It tastes great if you have no expectations!

Amir Frost variety is the spice of life, life is too long to do one sound
Desmond Darst korn is still relevant? in what country?
For some reason this is the song i listen to most of the album. Not sure why but it just seems like the strongest song for me.
The new album is riveting! It continues to grow on me with every listen. It's great to be able to listen to new music from APC after so many years. :)
Jayansh Singh same with me. Took me a few listens for it to grow on me.
Mutual Assured Destruction
You're just mad because APC didn't remake an old record. We can see how far it got Breaking Benjamin. Same sounding shit.
I love this song. It's so dynamic and unpredictable, yet peaceful.
Joey R it literally doesn't change the rhythm or beat throughout the entirety of the song. Sure... Totally unpredictable.
that's your opinion. :)
Joey R Sure. But it's also fact. The song's structure has little to no movement and the parts don't change... Ever. It's as much of an opinion as it is to state "if I jump, I'll fall back down towards the Earth"
Is it crazy to listen to the same song over and over and over?
The absolute meaning behind every song makes it more than music! People need to hear this!!!!
This song embodies the maddening pressure of time as regards our lack of love towards each other. They all kinda do (songs), but this one is direct...
Just genius, the whole album is beautiful, original , fresh, I like guys taking risks
You like what I tell you to like.
Just did 2x speed and it was just as good of a song. Like damn!
THIS SONG IS DOPE!!! SO HAPPY TO SEE APC OWNING THE MAINSTREAM SOUND AND MAKING IT SIGNIFICANT
A Perfect Circle did exactly what they said they were gonna do. Just take the step take the swing take the bite and go all in 👏🏻👏🏻
Took till 2020 to truly appreciate this album and these songs. Huge growers

It was amazing in concert
I want to see them live so bad!!!
this album is amazing
This had all my goosebumps going
Those of you saying he sounds bored or just not into it...He tells you right there in the song.
He ain't got time for that...and he doesn't wanna chit chat... just wants to get the lead on ya know?

This album is underrated asf. Great stuff.
Beautiful, listen 5 times and u will love it
This song is one of the things that keeps my motivation flowing these days.

My favorite from this album.
APC tracks are aces for the soul when your coming down.
does anyone else wake up with this song in there head
I’ve woken up to having “Disillusioned” & “By and Down the River” in my head. I love waking up to Maynard’s voice. He is literally my fave 🎉❤❤❤❤ 🎤 🎶 🎵

Tool are at the height of their day
The new album is awesome! I love it
After spending several weeks listening to this album... this is my favorite song. The atmosphere is incredible, and that break in the middle I end up dancing to every time. Come back to the east coast! I wanna hear this live.
If you cannot accept change, nor progress, it is you who has been standing still.
On a different not thanks Maynard, we all needed this Xp
Why so hate? Its a nice song. Doesn't matter who they are. This song is alive.
Love this album.
LOVE the beat, adore the lyrics. I really enjoy this album more and more every day
This is currently one of my favorite songs on the album, but I’m sure at some point each of the songs will be my favorite. :)
Sounds like surreal electronic music
I sat here, hesitant to listen to this new song, because im afraid of change, but, i was weak and powerless to refuse, so i gave it a try, and i was blown away to see one of my favorite bands, to have compiled new music that is modern in nature, but yet still so closely related to their core. Absolutely love this song! Missed it in Stockholm on the 5th... Best album I've heard in years!
Absolute masterpiece, Billy you are rock guitar god!!
It's nice to acknowledge genius, even as a normal human being... genius
I think I could put this on loop, and sleep like a baby
This is my favorite song lately
I must buy this album \m/
TheSkullPL I did and I love it
You ll not regret;)
Another really good song 🎧
Get the lead out, my friends, and embrace change and growth. APC till death do we part
Best track. Can hear the Puscifer influence.
That's what I said while waiting for this album to come out! GET THE LEAD OUT! Hells YES! Love me some Perfect Circle! xoxoJJ
The more I listen to this album, the more I like it
OMG I LOVE THIS.

Uncle Fester? Is that you?
Lol amazing song in all seriousness.
This is super different than your old music and not at all the kind of music I have, but I absolutely love it. Thanks!
This song is amazing! 🙌🏻
Best track on the album!!!!
Everything about this album is amazing.
DharmaMidget I wouldn't go that far. Though it does have some great parts!
Except the album cover
Also, don't credit them. Whatever the people that absolutely love this album like, is what the producer did for them.
It seems like everyone hates it.
I don't know if it's that it's a bit much Puscifer in some places though...why does it matter? People baffle me, what did anyone expect given the amount of years from 50+ year old Maynard/a band that only ever did two original studio albums?
Amazing album!!!
Im just happy im getting new music, these days its so hard to find good new music, yall stop complaining.
this song feels like home, big props to whomever made it
Great song by PERFECT CIRCLE 😊

This song is really good, I really like this sound
This is a chill song. I like it.
This sounds like something you'd hear on the radio. I wonder if he wrote this to reach a more mainstream audience?
Thank you!
Thank you APC
That beat......yes...thank you....please....more...…
Amazing!
I love the ambience and skittering electronics in this track. Overall, very experimental, and a cool way to close the album.

@Zylph This is pretty evolved and better than other music out right now. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Super sick with the scratching.
Shit gets me motivated to dive into these spreadsheets.
the first time i heard it. when i started listening to it , yo, thats a wrap. & the more i played it, i connected lyrics w music & aperfectcircle plays so symphonic & in sync.
Oooo shades of Depeche Mode! I love it!
Amazing album
That piano with chorus 😍
APC.... it's been to long... Welcome back, I've missed you.
Riveting, relevant and as usual fucking awesome! 😘
same
But where the fuck is the tool album??? :)
Exactly
"So good to see you.
I've missed you so much.
So glad it's over.
I've missed you so much
Came out to watch you play.
Why are you running?"
Dav'n Niceeeee! Classic goodness!
Getting my mind around the new sound the album provides, and it is pretty decent!
2020 must say I like this band a lot
Yes! Another great song! Never disappointed. Kind of reminds me of Depeche Mode sounding in the beginning, love it!
addict to this beat, this feeling, awesome atmosphere we got here!!
