    My younger daughter has both a tongue and lip tie. The lactation consultant at our hospital was the one who figure it out after we stuggled with feeding. She ended up getting the procedure at the hospital before we were even discharged. The second I held her again she was sticking her tongue in and out of her mouth like she had never been able to do before and breastfeed went well. This is great info and I'm just glad our lactation consultant found it as early as she did.

      I'm so glad she found it!! That's amazing you were able to get it done in the hospital, I wish that were an option where I delivered, but sadly, it's not. It's seriously amazing the difference post revision. Thank you for sharing your experience!!

    I knew something was up with my daughter. She was making the clicking sound, she was feeding constantly, spitting up sooo much, unhappy in comparison to how her older sister had been as a newborn, taking in so much air and having trouble breathing while feeding. I did some online research and discovered lip ties, I’ve heard of tongue ties but not lip. And I immediately lifted my daughters top lip and felt relief, she has a lip tie! There is something not 100%, there is a reason for my baby not being a happy baby, I now know what is going on with my daughter and there are things I can do to help her! This was my discovery a few hours ago. Now I’ve been doing some more research and made an appointment for her first thing in the morning. And till then giving my husband all the snidbits of information I gain, thank you for adding to it!

      It’s been a week since having a posterior tongue tie clipped, and we just had the lip tie corrected with a laser this morning. It’s interesting that when we met with her pediatrician, who isn’t too well versed with them, all he saw was that our daughter had been gaining weight decently despite what the toll it was taking on us. And I was made to feel like I shouldn’t push to have things corrected. Meeting with the doctor who does laser procedures for cases like ours provided me with comfort for making the right decision. The lip tie was pulling on her top jaw line in such a way it was causing it to come to a point, thus would have caused more physically permanent and developmental issues down the road for her if I just listened to her pediatrician instead of momma intuition.

    • @MeghanMeade

      YES! I had the same experience. I love our ped so much, but I’m so thankful I listened to my gut when it came to getting her revised. Mommas intuition is ALWAYS right!! I hope your sweet babe heals quickly & is doing well after getting her procedure done! I think it was harder on me than it was for Olivia.

    Thank you for making this video. I'm also a member of The Cleavage Club. My son had a tongue tie. I went to get it revised. Still experiencing pain. I didn't know he was lip tied until i showed Cass a pic today. She said, "crazy restricted." Now, i need to go get his lip revised too. It's unfortunate it wasn't done at once. I wish more providers were educated about this.

    You mentioned the baby’s symptoms, wondering if you had any symptoms. Our biggest struggle is the pain I am in! Nipple bleeding, cracking, injury. This is my second and looking back I really should have gone after this for my first. He and I struggled way more than my 2nd. He’s only 7 days old and thankfully is gaining weight fine and is able to hold the latch but we do have difficulties with a deep latch and the lactation consultant said he is lip and tongue tied to a degree.

    • @MeghanMeade
      @MeghanMeade  4 роки тому +1

      My daughter wasn’t getting a deep latch either! I had the lipstick shaped nipples after she got finished eating, and I occasionally dealt with soreness after she ate! I hope it gets better for y’all, getting my daughter revised saved our BF relationship!

Like how many times of upper lip & tongue stretch for each round of stretching? My dentist advised me to do 30stretches of upper lip and 30 for tongue and five times per day. and it s heartbreaking to hear my baby screaming every time….

    I’m soooo glad you made this video. We have every single symptom you mentioned. I went back and forth on getting it revised because her latch is great and she’s gaining weight, but she is so so colicky. We have an appointment tomorrow to get my babes revised with a laser. Super nervous but excited to see results. How soon did you start seeing a difference in your babe? Any tips on the healing process?

    • @MeghanMeade

      We were the same way, Olivia was gaining great and eating enough, but she had so many other symptoms!! It's worth the revision for sure even though it's soo hard hearing them cry and in pain but we are over a month out now & it's amazing the difference!! I literally saw a difference the day of the revision. Her latch was stronger immediately & she ate longer & stayed full for longer! The healing process was a breeze, the stretches do suck but she only cried while we were doing them, right after she was fine! Thanks for watching and good luck tomorrow!!

    Hi thank you for making this video. My son has the same situation as ur daughter. I decided to become exclusive pumping mom since I couldnt able to feeding him 20 times a day and I need to spare my time for my daughter also. It has been two months since I struggled with the feeding, my baby keep asked for milk every hour but its only 40-70 ml per feeding. Spit out a lot, gassy, and I suspect it reflux in the first time. I also consulted with his PD, but the doctor did not take seriously since my son's weight gain was good.
    Then I kept searching whats wrong with my son and suspect tongue tie. We just clipped his tongue yesterday. But based on my observation, his milk intake per day not increase, and still has click sound while feeding with his bottle. I assume he still learn to use his new tongue. How long did it take with ur daughter to find out the change after frenotomy? Thanks in advance :)

I asked my doctor and 2 different nurses at the breastfeeding clinic to check for it. They did not think it was a problem. I had a lactation consultant come to my house and she told me she wanted me to get him checked by a dentist who does a lot of those revision. Come to find out he had a class 3-4 upper lip tie and a class 3 tongue tie. My husband and I are so happy we did this for him.

I did give her Tylenol if she acted like she needed it! The doctor numbed the area. In our experience, she was not in a lot of pain after! It went much better than I ever expected it to go. Right after she acted totally fine, that evening we gave her Tylenol because she acted fussy, and the next day she acted fine again! The stretches weren’t fun, but she just fussed during them and after she was fine! If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask! 💙💙💙
