RATTLING IN A GIANT BUCK | Bowhunting the Gun Season - Saddle Hunting Whitetail

- Late in the Manitoba rifle season, I (Josh) took my bow to hunt a buck I called Kinger. He was an old Manitoba monster. I took my saddle and climbing sticks into a thick bedding area to do a hang and hunt for the day. Early in the morning, with the tail end of the rut in effect, I rattled Kinger into bow range and the rest was history. My biggest archery buck to date.
We hope you enjoy the video and would really appreciate a like and subscribe! Thanks for watching.

We have great bear and fishing opportunities in northern Manitoba.
Great footage! Great hunt and awesome deer. Keep up the great work my man!
Thanks man! I appreciate it
Awesome hunt! My heart was pounding just watching it!
You're right. It was meant to be! That's ok that it wasn't the best shot or that he could've gotten wounded and got away, and you were lucky, we've all been there, just not on a brute like that. It is an extremely exciting thing, and sometimes mistakes are made. Trust me, I've been at it for more than 50 years, ups and downs are a part of it no matter how careful you are. When it works out like it did for you, take advantage of it and be happy because you deserve it just as much as anyone else. A job well done and a tremendous outcome and holy crap what stud. Abuck of a lifetime. Congratulations. Good luck in the future.
@@peterchalk1192 thank you for the kind comment and wise words! I couldn’t agree with you more, I definitely soaked this hunt in the best I could, that was my biggest buck at the time and is a day I’ll never forget. I’ll take being lucky over good any day, however I often find the harder I work and more I prepare the luckier I get.
man im glad i subbed ya ive watched 3 of your videos and all 3 monsters you are the man !
@@robvonky thank you very much Rob, I appreciate it!
@@clearwateroutfitters no thank you ! im still watching you lol.

Damn son you proved persistence pays off! Congratulations man!
@@jimputnam7539 thank you Jim! Persistent is often key for those mature whitetails!
Wow! Nicely done.Congratulations on getting that monster!
Thank you! Thanks for watching
That's a great buck! Congrats!!
Thank you! Means a lot coming from a fellow 204 bow hunter ✊
Awesome video! Congratulations on that stud of a buck
Thanks guys! Congrats on your bucks this season as well👍
Congratulations!!!he's a stud!!
Thanks Jeff! He was a good one!
Blessed for that land! Wish I had some!
Not my own but super fortunate to have permission there!
Great Buck Congratulations Well Done
Thank you Stan!
You got away with a Femeral artery shot I was thinking. what a Stud Brother you hit the ✨🔥jackpot🎉
Thanks, I thought I may have caught it as well but it didn’t look like it when I opened things up. The shot was lower than it looked in the video likely a lot because of my angle. Ended up catching liver and a lung. Hard to say for sure though because I couldn’t actually find the femoral when looking
@@clearwateroutfitters Damn good hunt Brother 👊
Beautiful buck
Thank you Norman
Awesome hunt and a beautiful buck, congratulations 🙌
Thanks mike!
Awesome video and awesome deer, congrats man!
Thank you Cody👍appreciate it
Super well done! Fantastic buck. Nothing like taking your target deer. Looked a little chilly there. That makes it a harder hunt for sure. Congratulations young fella!!!!
Thank you Tim! It was a surreal feeling that’s for sure. And chilly it was, I ended up getting frostbite on my fingers from holding my release at full draw. It was worth it though!
good job man congrats thx for sharing
Thanks Jason, and thanks for watching!
Good job! Great video!
Thank you Brett! Glad you liked it
Texas heart shot👍
Beautiful buck. Risky shot. Lucky you recovered him.
Thanks Paul! Definitely a risky shot but at 32 yards I was comfortable with it. Aimed a touch forward and low but as he moved and dropped at the shot I ended up hitting further back and higher than anticipated. I ended up catching liver and a lung, making it a very lethal shot. Didn’t have much more room for error though.
I personally don’t like taking moving shots for this reason but sometimes that’s all you got. Looking back I probably could have leaned out more in my tree and shot just behind the tree that was in front of him as he was standing still. There’s always something to be learned, good luck this season!
Thanks . Good luck to you as well.
Probably one of your biggest? Man, I wanna hunt where you do! Great deer Bud and the video was a pleasure to watch. Congrats!,
Thanks Matthew! Turns out it was my biggest gross. They’re certainly not around every corner but they are around👍
It’s an outfitter buck. A hunting preserve. For $10,000 you can shoot that size buck every season
@@jimlahey3919what are you basing your assumption off of? Jealousy?
Awesome, self filmed hunt dude. Congrats
Thanks Scott! Appreciate it
Unreal!
Thanks Reido!
Awesome
Thank you Brent! I appreciate the comment👍
Wicked 🤟🏽
Thanks Justin🤙
That was some of the most frantic rattling i ever seen, cant believe that mature buck fell for it. Lucky shot lol..Congrats!
😂 When the buck of your dreams is walking out of your life, it gets frantic lol. You still gotta sell a big buck fight going down though! Was very lucky on the shot, I aimed for heart but by the time it got there it hit back. It ended up being much better than i thought, caught liver and being about 30 ft up in the tree it wasn’t too bad for height. Thanks for the watch and comment 👍
I was thinking how great of a job he did rattling in the other video he has of the buck he killed for his grandpa after he passed and yep this time he got pretty crazy with the horns but it looks like it was just meant to be. Good for him
This kid is wise beyond his years.👍
Perfect day to hunt. Very cool rack. Big son of a gun.
Thanks he was a beaut!
Beauty buck! What kind of saddle you using?
Thanks guys! I’m using the tethrd mantis, I’ve tried the phantom as well. They’re both good, the only thing I like about the phantom more is the adjustable bridge.
Mid west whitetail?
Southern Manitoba (north of North Dakota)
Bomber
What grunt is that ?
I believe it is the Knight and Hale - Death Chamber deer call. Not sure if they still make it. Really good call for snort wheezes and doe and buck grunts but freezes up in the cold.
try this on public land!!
@@stephenpardysr2390 check out my video from the year before👍
Ide rather be lucky then good 👍
Ain’t that the truth👌
💯🫡💪
It’s awful, when your shot doesn’t go where you’re aiming!
Yup! Should have taken into account his movement a little bit more but you live and you learn! Very grateful it still ended up being a decent shot
Pay to kill?
This a diy free range wild deer hunt. No outfitter, guide, or leased land. Knock on door property and years of homework went into getting this guy.
@@clearwateroutfitters Great to hear there are still people not paying to shoot deer! Good job.
@@KS-ud8pg thanks!
BS
Awesome paid fenced in deer haven’t seen nothing but fawns here in the real world lol
What did he score, beautiful animal.
To far of a shot, way back and aorta. Walking…..LUCKY….not good.
Shot looks farther than it is, it was 35 yards which is personally my max when hunting deer late season. I feel very confident in where I'll put my arrow at that distance and even further but I find deer can start do things that you can't control beyond that. That was evident in this case with how he dropped.
The one thing I shouldn't have done was shot while he was walking. It's something I never do because it's incredibly difficult with a bow. However I knew that was my only chance so I decided to tuck it into his shoulder. If you watch the video when I released the arrow (the red dot) was perfect but by the time the arrow got to him it was back and he ducked at the last second. In hindsight I should have aimed even further forward and a touch lower. However because I had made a decent shot it was still okay.
I thought it hit the aorta as well but after gutting I realized the shot was lower than I thought and because he was quartering away it exited quite low and further forward. It ended up smoking the liver and catching the far lung.
Great job! Awesome video
Thanks man!!
