I saw the update yesterday and couldn’t help but laugh. Bonkers how they drop their “game saving” update a couple weeks after chiv goes live on steam after not updating the game for about half a year. Mordhau could have been something

And it didn't save shit because they only sprinkled some new fancy shit for a brief spike of dopamine without changing anything at the core
Yeah. I loved Mordhau once but I started barely playing it for 2 years because I got bored, coming back to it was quite heartbreaking to say the least...
Really glad they waited so long. Really saving the best for last with the dlc voice pack. The devs really are spoiling us.
I laughed my ass off at this patch. 6 months of silence, thinking this game is dead and abandoned. Then they give us one uninspired map, some more skins, and expect us to PAY for voicelines? If they really cared about the remaining player base or attracting new players, they should have released this for free.

As far as the voice lines go, they REALLY couldn't find more voice actors? Like REALLY? It's the same guy who did the Eastern Voice in four new HORRIBLY DONE accents. They have all these cosmetics for your character but only 3 voice actors tops between all of the voice options.

tbf it is a rlly beautiful map and plays well in invasion, so I don't think that part is worth shitting on. The rest however...

He is my neighbor, Chiv 2. He is pain in my assholes. I get a eastern invasion, he must get -tenosian- eastern invasion. I get a brawl mode, he must get a "midsommar" brawl mode. I barely update the game and add "folders" after 3 years of complaints. he has big overbearing publisher to keep happy. Great success!

This patch is the last straw for me, new armory is such a downgrade, they merged frontline and invasion which was unnecessary. Mordhau was such a journey but it feels like it's time to move on.
Really does, game is a pure meme now.
That's why I got myself perma muted on purpose (no racism) in order to stop playing the game. It's like watching your favorite dog dying and not being able to take it down to the vet to put it down.
It really is depressing how Mordhau fell. Six months for this BTW.
It's even more depressing how shit chiv 2 is for vets of the genre
@@StrengthScholar0 depends what you’re looking for tho, if it’s duelling then avoid chiv 2 but if it’s for fun and team play then I think chiv 2 crushes it

If a one-on-one fight doesn't play well in a slasher the game has failed. Also mordhau gives the player way more power in 1vx encounters. Good luck winning a 1v3 fights(obviously not by running up from behind and hitting them in the back) in chiv 2 if you're playing against people who have even a tenuous grasp on the combat system.(which luckily doesn't happen much because you don't have to be good to get kills and chiv 2 so the general skill level is very low)
Chiv 2 is good for people who don't want to go through the process of becoming skilled to get kills and mindlessly slash while paying some modicum of attention to positioning. That will likely keep it's player base fed with new players.
For a skilled player chivalry 2 is inferior in every way and it breaks my heart. (Coming from someone with 1,000 hours in mordhau who desperately wanted chivalry two to evolve the genre)

I mean 1k is pretty solid for a indie game that costs 30 bucks at most.
I came back to try it and I gotta say its pretty uninspired the map is fine but theres not enough players to populate it
for its size and as you said earlier the objectives are pretty lame. you can really tell they're nearing the end when new voices cost 4£.

no matter what the combat of mordhau just looks a lot more polished, snappy and less floaty feeling than any competitor. Real shame about the devs...
Some of the devs are pretty chill, problem is they don't interact with the community nearly enough.

Some aspects of mordhau combat is great but there is quite a few flaws imo
Agree the lighting on this map makes it hard to distinguish enemies from allies. I have the same problem in the cave on Taiga.
You also can’t see friends names ingame now
playing with team colors off is more fun so you can see all the hard work everyone put into their characters. put on team markers anyway its super useful

I like the new map, they went crazy with some of the details but I never expected more than a brief player spike. New armory sucks, voice lines are obviously all from one guy... probably the last patchie
Anyone else absolutely hates new armory? It feels like it was designed for fucking tablets. Like holy fuck, all we needed were folders but they really needed to ruin everything else.
Paying for new voices makes oblivion horse armour worth it

Since chiv 2 came to steam I haven't touched mordhau. I don't think one new map and some paid voices will change that.
I was actually pretty excited for this update (mostly because I have 100 loadouts and folders would be a godsend) but chiv 2 came out on steam before this update and I dont really see a point in going back to mordhau lol

You know you're doing a reallly bad job at developing a game when Top Level players that have been grinding for years stop playing it to go to a different game.
I was actually in a match with you Stouty and to be truthful it was just amazing to see you in the game again

Disclaimer: my opinion is an unpopular one.
You see, I paid for the grotesque/lion DLC and I’m gonna pay for this one too because I love Mordhau for its uncompetitive vibe in the first place. This is the only game I’ve ever played where I was able to fuck around as a naked midget with an enormously big hat, high-pitched voice, wielding a golden maul and in the meantime playing “Through the Fire and Flames” on a lute. Lute, man.
Why would I ever pay for the content I don’t use very much cuz mostly I’m just chilling? Well...the answer is a pretty straightforward one. I just wanna support the devs and keep playin’, keep vibin’ as long as humanly possible.
That is the only reason. From the very start Mordhau was for me a crowd of weird UGLY dudes screaming and cutting each other limb by limb. I can’t remember how many times I just had to stop playing for like 10 minutes just to catch my breath again because I was laughing my fucking ass off.
So yeah, I will surely pay for this just to keep the game breathing. Until then, “get yourself a kilt and call yourself a badass!”

Developers who redesign UI 3 years after release should be put to death, I’ll never understand this. People have been getting on just fine
This update might make me finally leave. Overall terrible with changes that will anger ALOT of players.

This update was the reason I bought Chivalry 2
the new loadout menu is soo shite. it takes me 5 years to make one simple change to any loadout. god the devs just prove how useless they are with each update. Mordhau would be a superior product if it received 0 updates since beta.
The layout of the map looks like a copy of the two tenosian maps that came out on chivalry but fused together. You have the first phases with attacking the walls, destroying/ capturing stuff on them, push through the marked and then a library. Looks like they are despirately trying to keep up with chiv2
Mordhau is just real sad to think about, I remember being in college waiting for the game, shitposting on the forums for years and then it just gets worse and worse, and they barely ever updated it

They should make it FTP with season pass. Mordhau is the best medieval battle simulador, but they need to make a change if they don't want the game to die, servers are empty most of the time

@@nicolaslujan1975 If I want "medieval battle simulator" I'll just play Chivalry 2 now, it has a much better team objective mode and the different teams are actually outfitted different, helps with that sort of immersion.
Mordhau may have better mechanics, but that doesn't really make it fun or its maps that good
this dropped, i played it, then decided that i was in a real big mood to play chiv 2. RIP mordhau

Great to see you playing chivalry man. Got coached by you in mordhau briefly as a complete scrub but the game, maps, community and dev responsiveness didn't really make me feel like staying around, I prefer this game, even though it is much more lax, and less competitive, it just feels more... FUN. . Do you think you will be sticking around?

not only that they have not fixed server connection issues they implemented a new bug where your screen gets totally locked out every now and then when you die I love it, I barley got to play even when the update was released because of it and its still not fixed. They implemented little to no weapon changes, and to top it off the player base barley increased.

What a great update...Not even bothered to release the promised women from 2 years ago...I applaud their courage asking for more money after 6 months of nothing not even gimmicky event or talking about future or something in game I guess Chiv 2 made them come out of their hidey hole where they have been abusing coke... I really wanted for Chiv 2 to have competition so both game can improve and battle for top but looking on devs work ethic and how they treat community this game is gonna be on a life support

Edit : I havent found that women come with this update they were vauge and told us that meshes are done just they need VO however I think they put them on backburner because in this update they focus on more male voices anyway..
@@exodus1759 No we didnt they announced women on their stream telling that with big eastern invasion update which would be 2 invasion maps and bunch of cosmetics and needed combat changes we will see woman but later they decided split it which is fine but one map per 6 months is close to Dirty Bomb development which I think is the reason why Mordhau is bleeding players...Triternion works on something else and use funds from Mordhau

New map is cool but Chiv feels like a real battles in mord feel nothing like they do in Chiv because Chiv knows how the map and environment cemetery plays into how big the battles feels, the buildings feel the correct height and object scaling feels good. A 64 player battle feels like a 32 in mord but in Chiv it feels like a a big battle
I dunno. I still like the game more than chiv 2. It has broader customization, tons of weapons, tons of loadout options and percs, and the maps weren't that terrible atleast in my eyes. Hell even the castle in the middle of the field, on a full server that map is chaos and amazing.
There's something about you and 4 guys in a jail cell, dancing around as someone is playing we are the champions on lute as an enemy throws a firebomb in the cell you all are in as you burn alive like auschwiz just says something is pretty special about that game lol.
Also the combat feels rewarding to me. One shot kills are always pog.

I once joked about how mid Chivalry was compared to Mordhau, I even joked about Mordhau being better than Chiv 2. Those days are now over sadly with these recent updates ☹

7 months wait for 1 map, a camel and DLC voice lines...I used to love this game with a passion. I'd spend most of my time in community servers like Duke of York. Hard to enjoy playing a game when the dev's really don't care about their player base or want to improve the game. It'll be a sad day when Mordhau finally dies.

6 months for a map which I'll never play anyways since I dont play Frontline/Invasion, I was honestly expecting riposte changes and female character models to come with this update because of how long they took with part 2, the new voices are terrible, they don't match the quality of the original voices, I'm disappointed with Triternian ngl... (despite saying all of this, I do think the new bardiche skin is amazing)

Im no game dev, or map designer, or game designer, but is it reasonable for them to be so slow with their size?

As a game dev, development really depends on the effort placed by the people working on the project. The field is huge and overall many tools have been made/refined over the years to ease development process. There are pros and cons to both large and small development studios, but it really is mostly just on how much effort is put into the project.
They're using ue4. This is an abysmal amount of work to get done in 6 months. They should just start working on a second game at this point. Either that or go f2p and monetize the armor. $4 for voice lines won't bring enough money to justify continued work on the game.
So the millions they made around when this game launched went all to subpar updates that release once in a blue moon.
They've already shown they can't invest in their studio or listen to player feedback. Yet they're releasing poorly done voices as a dlc as if anyone is convinced it will "help" the development process.
I wonder how much of that money was invested in tabletop nose drag racing events, booger sugar, or snout candy.

Everyone hates it lol. I like it. I don't understand why people have such high expectations for this small dev team and such. They are literally being put up against a huge game franchise and they are a small team that uses unreal engine. Settle down. And voice lines. They got to make money somehow I bought it for the screaming Spanish lol
If it weren't for the lack of customization options and embarrassingly bad animations in Chiv2, I'd probably have abandoned Mordhau a long time ago.

This uldate was laughably bad,the only good thing was the ui which i found pretty cool,the rest was lame tho,that one armor set was basically a reskin.I am so glad i switched to chiv 2

I immediately thought the voice lines were absolutely trash from the first one where he said the f word, Chivalry doesn’t need to do that at all to be funny. Secondly they all sound like they were done by one guy. The map looks ok, the objective mode looks boring as hell.
I mean its £1 per voice line, its worth it.
