First off, Thank You for being so brave and sharing your story. It is one of the best personal shares I’ve stopped to listen to during my quest to find some peace with my over abundant craft room. You kept it very raw and real. So many people live locked in this cycle. Of course we may giggle or smile at friends and play it off...... but too much stuff is not good for anyone. The point you made about feeling shame because you just found the supplies that you were “going” to make for someone or something special. And you failed, you are holding it and looking at it. So when you said “hundreds of items” it just really hit home in me. One other thing you said , that I am currently experiencing,, the “feeling” of hating your stuff, and I can take it down on myself from there. But, I’m trying to be really patient with myself, regardless of what any family or friends say, and it is SO very very true, Surprisingly... It does get easier to pass on after the first few times. !! On that one fact I can promise.!!! Start small,,,we all want the whole thing by tomorrow, but changes in yourself don’t just happen that way. Grrrrrrr.😂 Chin up fellow “collectors” hoarders......... Best energy and prayers to all
Thank you for sharing. I'm disabled after a cancer battle and I have 2 bedrooms and a basement full with craft stuff. Fire marshal came and said you have to clear it out. Blessings Shirlene
I had similar issues, but what helped me was deciding to let Michael's "store" things for me and I'd go get it when I really needed it unless it was an unbelievable deal on the order of, say a gallon of mod podge or gesso for $5.00/10.00, it would take me over a year to use that up so I might buy it just to save on all the time for those trips if that makes sense
Thank you for sharing this. I have the Same issue and my man is getting upset with the piles creeping all over the house. I got offered a job, by the mgr, at Michael's I was in there so much! :/ I like these ideas. Thank you for your honesty!
Justine White I have to know ... did you take the job ? I always think I would love to work a day or two there, but I know for a fact......my check would be spent at the store.😕
Lucylovewalk lol!!! Ya know I had to say no as I'm a full time pet sitter and their smallest shifts were 5 hr shifts. I can't leave pets locked in for longer then 5 hrs so it wouldn't work out. Drive time wasn't included. I live about 50 min from the closest Michael's. So time wise it didn't make sense. As much FUN as I would have had it wasn't realistic with my other job. I know I wouldn't have made a penny after I bought all of the saved items I would have found each shift. ;)
Justine White I too am guilty of that! So I am putting a stop on even thinking of buying more because my bf thinks I’m getting a little bit too carried away now 😞
I am glad she got it together >I am making mystery boxes right now ironically I donate to places - I have had giveaways and swap meets... we are sort of on same page. RIght now I am putting together a workflow system for craft bizz... I have a 24 hour DEAD LINE on thrift shopping I have a materials space and that is LIMITED I have dedicated project Bins so when I have a work in progress its all organized AND working on a work station - that is set up so tools are accessible THIS IS IMPORTANT I could not comment on the emotions prevent Declutter video - wanted to say YES and I wonder how you only have 176 subs >We are kind of in same VEIN perhaps later on we can connect ! I'll get my story together and I followed you here* I am actually thinking of my NAME for this and its TUFF REALLY its about Focus and I am lik e sooo many things going on* THATS what holds many back > too many ideas too many feels
Great story and great advice. I have fabric and yarn. Lots of it. And scrapbook paper. And stamps. And pencils, paints, markers, coloring books. Kids crafts. ok, I need to destash. The reality came when I moved.
After losing my Son, Jay suddenly 4 years ago, I took to crafting as my escape.I started making necklaces/bracelets/hair bows from brown grocery bags hardened with Mod Podge. I added beads, glitter etc. I now have over 500 pieces, and have no idea where to market them since I am not physically able to do craft fairs.Any help, any suggestions? Thanks.
so sorry for your loss maybe you could try an Etsy store, then you'd just have to deal with packaging and mailing if those are possible for you o do, I don't know how much volume it takes, but USPS will pick up from customers I know how frustrating disability is I had a stroke and lost the use of my left side and gained mild epilepsy (enough to lose my license but still be controlled by medicine)
@@24get24give How horrible.I too have severe hip and knee problems, can't walk even a foot without my walker.I hope you get better. I may just donate all my crafts to a School or Thrift shop.

A lot comes from all the Dollar tree haules, Hobby Lobby haules and so on and so forth. Very enticing and toxic at the same time.
that's funny, they have no appeal for me at all
OMG this was so long ago! LOL
